they not doing that teddy bear thing lol. The whole point for steve/emi's site it to get wb to reboot superman, and now we are getting a reboot film. Now yes the steve guy wanted to write a script but now since wb's plans are set with a reboot and they are making deal with writers for the project and director they are not looking at any more pitchs.

Can you imagine if Tom is cast. This forum will be going bananas and the the Superman forum will be going bananas....but, not in the same way. :D

:woot: I know I will, it'll be as if my favorite football team won the Superbowl.
I'd just be beside myself for weeks.

Speaking of the old casting wars. What ever happened to Emi?

Emi wasnt around in the old casting wars back in 2004. She only appeared magically during the JLA thing last year.

It is a ****ty label because the Playstation 3 has that label & it is already more known as the PS3. Surely you guys can be more creative then to just copy cat something that already had PS3

umm THATS THE POINT. That's exactly why they're called "PS3" because it's the moniker for the Playstation 3 so it's tongue in cheek since the 4 showrunners just happen to have those initials. Outside of that the acronym "PS3" has no relevance. Easy there fanboy, no one's "copying" anything.....take a deep breath...

Yeah, so what if they're called PS3?

I think it's cute. Besides, it's a helluva lot easier than saying all four of their names....

YEa it is alot easier i hope they do a vid on season 8 dvd about their nick name like i was watching season 6 dvd set awhile ago and they had that vid talking about all the shorthand names for all the relationships in the show.

^ do you realize like 99% of your posts are "yea" followed by an affirmation of the previous post?

^ this has almost gotten boring. Would be something for Welling to even come close in a pro-Routh, pro-SR site like that. I've heard that you get banned over there if you speak ill of SR on their forums.

I'd be much more converned with polls in places that aren't fanboy hang-outs like the ones on MSNBC, USA Today, etc.

What are you talking about, Hulk? Don't you know they're HUGE SV fans - when it gets them some attention that is.

Hypocrites. I wouldn't waste my time to go there again, not even to vote for Tom. Sorry BW29.

The funny thing about Neal Bailey is that he is the biggest hypocrite of all, He is the first that turns Smallville down but when Smallville asked for ppl to send a video to see who was the biggest Smallville fan he was one of the first ppl that send a video. And he now writes for the Smallville magazine writing small story's

they like whoever will give them recognition, grant them access, or help sell merchandise and god help you if you get in their way. I could tell you stories that some other webmasters have relayed to me about the people at that site, that would make your head spin.

I still don't know which mind to be of on this. He has been passed over a few times already, so clearly WB is more than happy to do this without him. But these press clippings + the fact that they cannot afford to fail again (financially) could also mean they pick what they would perceive as the safe choice.

I would be interested to read Jack's take, but WB is only getting one more chance at this before they have to bury the character for a while. Would they really ignore such an easy choice for the role?

I still don't get why they're so stupid about picking him. He's the easiest person to market. Guys would watch it if there was action, and you could plaster Welling on every female mag, and they'd watch it because he tends to be easy on the eyes to them.

Hollywood is the twilight zone of common sense, so I guess I don't know either.

I presume you're speaking of moi? Why thank you, Zing, ol' buddy. Nice to see you here again...

It's the conundrum of the ages...

They have tried the Classic Coke...

Now should they try New Coke...?

But wait -- New Coke was a bit of a failure on the market, wasn't it?

However, did New Coke have the detailed and extensive market testing that the 'Ville has had?

Perhaps...

How about Oreos?

Everyone loves the original, but what about double-stuff?

Those are great, but can you digest double-stuff all the time, or is it just too much satisfaction?

You know, birds like to flock around open bags of leftover food, but do they miss the fresh sandwiches just around the corner?

If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around, did anyone hear it?

Did it happen at all?

How about chicken wings? Nice accessory to a pizza, but how many can you eat before you destroy the anticipation for the main course?

The truth is, your brother's old superhero costume that's lying in the closet, can't be taken seriously this Halloween, so you need to buy a new one...

However, your brother may not want to be Elongated Man this year...what if he wants to be Richard Nixon? Or perhaps Orson Welles?

Ahh, so many conundrums...where does it all end -- or begin?

Then again, we could just retreat to what Anne Thompson at Variety had to say on the matter some months ago: "Who plays Swooperman will depend on who directs Swooperman."

Well everyone, I just made a new manip, the problem is its probably too much to post here because a few people would get annoyed, so if anyone wants to see it, drop me a pm.

I believe it.

Steve Younis and I traded some emails once and let me say, I'm not sure I like the guy much.

Don't get me started on Bailey and how he rants about Smallville then turns around and writes for the magazine...

*writes note to self about sending a query letter to the Smallville mag*

You have my support.

Bingo! I don't think this (that) will ever change. It's not going to matter what director they get; every director wants to make their own statement. A studio could insist on a certain actor or actors, but if the director doesn't want "X" or "Y," they can't be forced to cast those individuals. And the studio could veto a director's choice(s) as well.

I see Cavill is back in the fan-casting suggestion box, along with Cavs and Webster. How original.

It's all so 2004, all over again. *Face palm*

At this point, I think folks need to put the Welling dream to bed. Any director charged with rebooting Superman is going to want their own flyboy. They're not going to want one that's pre-established, which includes Routh *or* Welling. And despite the fact that G&M are no longer attached to SV, I think they'd still be a road block for Welling playing Superman in a film. $$$

And if Singer is involved as a producer as rumors seem to indicate, I don't see him advocating Welling. Lets be realistic here.

Then there's SV's new producer's desire to keep the show going as long as they can. I can't imagine making such a statement if they knew Welling was down the road at the end of this season. The man makes 150k/episode and he loves playing Clark. To my knowledge, he's never made any statements about wanting to leave the show, unlike Kreuk and Rosenbaum. He must be leaving his options open with them, otherwise we'd be seeing ads for S8 (ala S5) "Everything you wanted to see..."

TW will always be my Superman, and I believe he is this generation's Superman as well, but Warner Bros. painted themselves into a deep, dark corner with SR. Routh was forgettable at best, no thanks to Singer's poor decision to requil Donner. Now the fanbase will be splintered not just two but three ways going forward. Even Cocacola didn't have that problem. It doesn't surprise me that Warners isn't quite sure about how to proceed...

HA...I thought the same thing when Bailey got the Smallville mag deal.

It is especially funny considering how much he seems to dislike the show, the writing, and the general direction it takes. I don't have much experience with Younis though, so I can't say.

Yeah, well. I *never* go over there for just this reason.

They're rabid.

Oh, thanks.

Yeah, I wasn't sure I have the journalistic chops to actually write articles, but I actually have a little experience outside of writing reviews and also would LOVE to intervew people.

I did a couple of interviews when I worked for that newspaper (a free weekly) a few years back, I enjoyed that so I'd love to do that more, or maybe even do some fiction for the magazine even.

I'd have to find out sort of stories they'd be looking for going down the line.... I betcha I could write Lois pretty well

;)

He's the worst kind of writer. He produces only what he thinks his audience will buy into.

I have never really believed that there is really any such thing as a completely objective review, so his opinions don't bother me, not really.

I don't agree with his opinions, but the problem is that I don't think he agrees with them either.

As for me, I love the show still and people sometimes question whether I'm sincere and whether I really believe what I've written.

I wouldn't have written it if I didn't believe it... sometimes I find out I made the wrong assumption based on what happened in the show, but at least at the time of the review, it was what I believed.

I don't think Neil does really have that level of committment to his own opinions.

I think it's been made clear by his writing for the official magazine for a show he seeminly detests that he's willing to sell his soul if the money is right.

I don't think it was fun, but then again I'm not sure who or what to believe at this point...

I like Cavill. He's grown up nicely.

It's all so 2004, all over again. *Face palm*

I think you make excellent points, but I also think that there's a difference this time around. Most of us who were here for the last casting war have hopefully learned enough from that to have more realistic expectations. In other words, don't get your hopes up kids! :)

I'm still going to root for Tom because he is the perfect man for the job, SV baggage or not, but I'm not going to set my heart on it actually happening. I can be content with the 8 years of TV Superman time he's given us.

And if Singer is involved as a producer as rumors seem to indicate, I don't see him advocating Welling. Lets be realistic here.

I hadn't heard that Singer might still be involved. It seems rather humiliating for him to hang on when they've clearly stated how disappointed they were with his last effort.

Then there's SV's new producer's desire to keep the show going as long as they can. I can't imagine making such a statement if they knew Welling was down the road at the end of this season.

See? I can see them trying like hell to get themselves another season or two as EP's of a long-running show like SV.
