Tom Welling as Superman

If you ask me with Emijay heading out of town for two weeks & she will more then likely not come back online until sometime after November 1st & with her being the first original person to break out the Tom Welling news Tom Welling fans should prepare to be disappointed because it does seem like something will be announced before the end of October & with Emijay bolting like I said Tom Welling fans should be prepared to be disappointed.

Do people from Warner (of any possible importance) actually read this or the other boards (IESB, etc)?

yeah I guess but its not like anyone ever doubted that Gough said those things, the whole issue was if what he was saying was true...

I know, and if Gough honestly is bound by that legal agreement people are talking about, it won't matter where he denies that Tom was in contention for Superman ... on TV Guide or on the web. If he has to deny, he's probably legally bound to no matter where he's interviewed.

The thing that feels like deja vu here is that the fans caught wind of these talks and ran with it, just like back in 2004. If nothing else comes of this, at least the WB realizes that Tom is still a huge fan favorite. Sucks to be on this roller coaster again however. It's a fun ride up, but if this turns out to be like 2004, the ride down was a big kick in the pants.

If I was in charge of a studio. I would certainly keep an eye on what the fans were saying. Besides creating buzz. Its a good way to see how the fans think of story ideas and casting. Not that I would base every decision on what fans on a forum think. But, if you can get the core fans behind it. They are the ones who see the movie multiple times. Look at Superman Returns. It split the Supes fan base. And didn't do as well as it could have. I saw it once. If I would have liked it (hating the story plots) I would have seen in 2 or 3 times.

3 interviews from.Gough 3 denials. Just come out with the damn cast list already. The only good thing about Superman today is that smallville comes on tonight. Sorry if I don't get Tom in jla then I will be waiting until I can bootleg it or something. I like routh really I do but honestly what is wb thinking if they don't cast either. I don't want another supes. 2 is more than enough and tom would be plenty (sorry Brandon) if they would just make a good decision

Not for nothin', but that question was more of a "Is JLA going to be based on SV's League" than a "Is Tom going to be Superman?"

I mean, it's still a denial, but it's more denying the movie's League being related to SV's League than anything else.

Or am I just grasping at straws here? :O

Why would they do that? They know what they want.. I presume lol.

There are and have been individuals affliated with studios on these boards along with various screenwriters and directors. Most of the time studios assign interns to check out the boards and see if they can put their finger on the pulse of the fans. I can tell you that somebody from WB was in the Superman Forums when WB liking the script first surfaced on The Hype.

For a guy who claimed discussion of JL hadn't come up once in past conversation, Gough sure seems pretty confident on a few details: "You will see a brand-spanking-new group of actors donning the tights for that film."

That a fact? That right there speaks volumes, because even the trade papers couldn't nail down what was going on with casting. All anybody has said so far is that various "sources" say they doubt Bale or Routh would be involved.

And if by "Hollywood doesn't work like that" Gough means, "Hollywood isn't in the habit of taking it up the ying yang by dipsquat tv show producers," then yes, yes, I agree. They'd rather move on.

Between the JL comments and Gough's other statements about SV, he better get in the habit of watching over his shoulder and avoid dark alleys at night. I... I... just don't know where to begin. :cmad:

I think Al just needs a nice, big glass of ****. I'm tired of every insider's conflicting info...I'm generally just tired of all this lack of concrete information (woo, we have a........start date?), but Al...Al, darling, you're getting most tiresome.

Good point and nice positive spin on his interview.

And agreed...Gough better get his own Pope mobile to tool around Vancouver in...:cmad:

You guys keep saying Gough this and that but do you know for sure that Welling wanted the role? I mean I think you should wait on putting blame on a person until the whole story comes out.

True.
He has become the scape goat for this whole mess. It very well could be a number of things including TW not wanting the part.
But hey this is an internet message board..basically a village ready to lynch Frankenstein's monster just because. We don't need rational thought or reasoning. We need torches--stat!!

It took yours truely to get a new update from Sanchez :woot:

Okay here is what I believe is happening

1. Welling has been cast

2. WB has notifed all the "popular" internet movie sites, ie SHH, SMHP, Moviehole, Chud, IESB, Dark Horizons, Blue Tights that they cannot talk about the casting of Welling...YET

3. Gough is pissed and wants to throw people off the trail.

4. Welling is legally obligated not to say anything as well.

I told him Falcor is watching him lol:woot:

Oh and ARFO!

WB has not contacted me or any other site, we're just idling right now.

Waiting and waiting, FYI, there was some misinformation that the studio was releasing early on. Don't know what exactly but there was.

misinformation released early on???!!???

you mean for 2 months we all thought Welling had a chance and the WB stayed quiet about it and didn't try to correct us or put out a statement to set things straight and just let us work ourselves up into a frenzy?

.....wait a minute...Could it be that our opinion doesn't mean as much to the studio as we thought....naaahh! :cwink: That's just crazy talk.

I doubt the misinformation was about Welling. I can see them releasing misinformation about the script or some other aspect, but to release misinformation that would cause headaches for Gough and Welling? I don't think so.
