I put some thought to these new casting choices last night. I think either Brody or Long could do a fine job as Flash. In fact, Brody's potential casting would make me laugh a little IF Welling ends up as Supes because he too has a history with WB, he's been on SV previously, he's vaguely similarity to SV's Flash (physique and acting style) and like Welling, Brody is extremely popular with teenage audiences. So if it happens, I will not be surprised in the slightest. That said, I'm having a hard time envisioning Brody becoming the new Flash in solo feature films - which is the whole point of doing JL first, right? They want to launch the individual franchises. So Adam Brody? Flash? Umm... I think I'd rather see Kyle Gallner LOL.Adam Brody is actually a pretty decent actor, but he always seems a bit.. scrawny to me. I just don't see him as Superhero material at all.
Casting Long also makes sense from a younger, teen appeal POV, and I could see him carrying the Flash franchise out of JL. I enjoyed watching him in the last Die Hard film. He's a good actor with an affable look. So if he ends up as Flash, I could get behind that. How funny his casting would be though considering his appearances in the Mac/PC ads and the hysterical Marvel/DC parodies they inspired.
But where does all this leave Ryan Reynolds? Because if the plan was to give fans what they've been asking for, and Warners turns around and casts somebody else, I'll really be confused. If there's ONE actor everybody seems to be in agreement on, it's Ryan Reynolds for Flash.
Regarding the candidates for GL, I only know Tyrese Gibson because of his role in Transformers. I never even heard of the other guys (T.I. Harris and "Common?"), so... whatever on that. I don't have an opinion either way. *shrugs*
They tried that already. But then the rumors started he was back in talks LOL. So either THAT is the false information Sanchez heard was being leaked, or it's true and Welling could very much be it - they just don't want it scooped yet.You know with all the negativity about Tom playing Supes, particularly after Al's latest verbal spewage, I can't help but wonder why the scoopers aren't having an easier time just ruling Tom out from being involved with this film at all. You'd think that at least one of the "sources" out there would just say we won't tell you who's in, but we will tell you that Welling is out.
I'm with ya, but it's not for a lack of trying. There have been very vehement denials made by Gough. Problem is, nobody wants to believe Mr. Sunshine because of all of the other rumors implicated him as being the gunk in the works. I personally don't trust Gough as far as I can throw him.Perhaps I'm just grasping at straws here, but it seems a very easy thing to rule any actor out, as opposed to confirming one. The fact that it's not happening is making me hang on to a very thin thread of hope.
I'd rather hope and be disappointed than give up.
There ARE two things that I still find oddly suspicious. First is Welling's reps saying "no comment." If he's not involved, why not just say he's not involved like they did initially? Second is the complete lack of any other rumored candidates for Superman. Even Batman has had a few names run through the rumor mill. Given their popularity and recognition, Superman and Batman are the big draws, so the other franchises are somewhat dependent on Warners getting two actors that audiences will want to see. Which brings us back to the whole point of why they'd want to cast Welling. But then there's the Ryan Reynolds situation...
I'm sooooo confused. LOL
