Tony Hawk Still Confident In Future Support For Board Peripheral

yearly awards that go out to the worst games of the year....they change the categories every year for comedys sake but the games deserve it

For a game with so many bad reviews, the game is not selling all that bad..
From VGChartz

Wii - 0.36m
Xbox 360 - 0.24m
PS3 - 0.19m

That´s 0.79m, which means that, in the next few weeks, it very well make 1 million.
It made more than half of what Skate 2 made (which came in January, and has made 1.24 million so far and Ride came out in last month).
Sure, Ride came out on all consoles, where Skate 2 only went to the 360 and PS3, but still...
I don´t care for skate games, but i always hate to see a bad game selling that much, more even when it´s Activision, and Bobby Kotick needs to fall.

I'm all for crucifying a bad game, but since when did we start caring about people like Bobby Kotick and Reggie Fils-Aime...these aren't the guys pitching said projects, they just run the company

Tony Hawk Ride is the perfect example of Kotick's reign in Activision in an attempt to charge more money from consumers with crappy games.

I doubt we'd be seeing Tony Hawk Ride if someone who wasn't Kotick was running Activision.

But I think they quickly reduced the price to $70 which really isn't good for a high selling game.

I think it's the big craze of motion controls...so Id blame Nintendo for this, everyone wants to hop on the next big cash cow in gaming and they seem to think that motion control is it....with ass ideas like the Wii nunchucks, Natal, and that wand thingie PS3 has, its monkey see monkey doo

Tony Hawk decided it was time to beat a dead horse. Then he tried to fit the corpse with new horsehoes.
Ride was the result.

Tony Hawk came to them with this idea, and was there every step of the way. Yes, someone smarter than him should have told him "Look, it's not working", but he's brought Activision a **** load of money over the years, I doubt they want to piss him off.

Activision should just kill off the series and later relaunch it under a new name. The Tony Hawk liscense is more of a joke at this point and isnt even worth continuing. Tony Hawk is getting old anyway and isnt quite the same draw that he used to be

It's not Nintendo's fault. It's Activision's. The reason why you have Tony Hawk Ride is not because of the craze for motion controls, it's that they can get away with selling peripherals for $100+ with the game. Guitar Hero started this and is the cause of this, not the Wii.

You guys are right, but the point is just one, people are actually buying that piece of crap, and that´s the main problem.

Yeah, but I wouldn't think they are making a huge profit from it, especially with all the price reductions.

I played it a bit at a buddies house. It's not nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be, and it's pretty "innovative" as far as the controller goes. I'd never buy it personally, but it definatly has it's niche that will grow and grow as the game evolves more and more with the series.

It's defiantly a step in the right direction, but the actual game is very lacking and limited.

I think it's time to hang up the Tony Hawk franchise for good. Skate has already replaced it as the go-to skateboarding franchise, and the Tony Hawk series only seems to get worse with each installment. The franchise peaked with Tony Hawk 4. I didn't particularly care for THUG that much, and I though that Tony Hawk 4 was the game in the franchise where everything felt just right. The franchise is broken now, and if a reinvention as drastic as Ride failed, then I see no point in continuing.

I was disapointed with 4. I'd say that game is pretty much much THPS 3.5.. For me, THUG is the best in the series. It brought in the new story mode that I had a lot of fun playing through. Then THUG 2 came out and where they cashed in on the Bam Margera/Jackass craze and I haven't played the newer games in the series since.

Tony Hawk will be your friend if you play his game.

…As long as you’re playing on the Xbox 360. In a move only one step above going door to door to everyone who bought the game and kissing their feet (which judging by sales wouldn’t actually take that long) the legendary Tony Hawk is offering to add anyone as a friend on Xbox Live as long as they play Tony Hawk Ride online.

As revealed via Mr Hawk’s twitter page, you can challenge Tony at his own game by sending ‘tonyinegypt’ and invite, though he will respond only to Tony Hawk Ride invitations. He also said he will be performing “spring cleaning” on his Xbox Live friends list and “if you play [Tony Hawk Ride] online, you’re in”, thereby confirming there are less than 100 people playing Tony Hawk Ride on the Xbox 360 online.

To be fair it is rather bold of Tony Hawk to inject himself in the game as much as he has been, defending the product whenever possible and encouraging the birth of a Tony Hawk Ride community. It would be nice for other celebrities such as NFL or NHL players to take the same steps in the EA Sports franchise. Thoughts?

Poor Tony.
