I dont even know if Ive seen 10 movies that came out this year well at least liked 10 films from this year. I'll list them and see what Ive got

1. The Dark Knight
2. Benjamin Button
3. The Incredible Hulk
4. Iron Man

The rest are in no order

5. Cloverfield
6. Harold & Kumar 2
7. Pineapple Express
8. Punisher: War Zone ( I didnt like it but it was better then I expected and since this list will end short I'll add it.

I try to not go to the movies unless Im REALLY interested in a movie and the only film I went to the movies and didnt add to this list is Indy 4. I HATED that movie

Okay from number 10 to number 1 (the best of the year) here is my 2008 list:

10) Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
9) The Strangers
8) The Incredible Hulk
7) Be Kind Rewind
6) Hellboy II: The Golden Army
5) Pineapple Express
4) Wall-E
3) Iron Man
2) Tropic Thunder
1) The Dark Knight

Keep in mind I still haven't seen Curious Case of Benjamin Button as well as several other movies that I really want to see so this list could very well change.

Hmmm, let's see;

No particular order;

The Dark Knight - Takes priority, of course.
Iron Man
The Incredible Hulk
Religulous
The Strangers
Get Smart
Hellboy II: The Golden Army
Quantum of Solace
The Day the Earth Stood Still
Tropic Thunder

Wow, it was a damn tasty year for movies in Holland this year. We got atleast three classics (two of which the rest of the world got last year, you'll notice a couple of movies that seem old already..) and just....alot of really enjoyable stuff.

1. The Dark Knight
I'm not sure what I can still say about this. Absolutely the most stunning theatre experience I've (ever) had and I didn't even see it in IMAX! It's the whole Batman feeling wrapped into 2 and a half hours of finely crafted film. The action scenes are tense and we also got some bonafide suspense scenes. I'm a fool for crime dramas, and mixing Batman with that genre is pushing my happy buttons. A good time to be a Batman fan. Unforgettable.
2. There Will be Blood
I needed atleast three viewings to fully appreciate this as the masterpiece it is. It's not an easy watch, you need to concentrate watching it. You need to read the faces and reactions because there's not a whole lot spoken about motivations and feelings etc. It needs one's attention. That pays off because it's fascinating, and thoroughly original. The score is superb and gives it an edge of madness that culminates in what is perhaps one of the most insane ending scenes ever.
3. No Country For Old Men
I came out of the theatre with mixed feelings, but now I've learned to live with it's anticlimactic ending. In the theatre it was butt-clenchingly exciting, it will never get that intense again but there's plenty left to enjoy. It's beautiful on DVD; the directing and cinematography is just impeccable and flawless. The acting is top-notch. i especially enjoyed the performance by Woody Harrelson.
4. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
I saw it in a packed theatre with noisy people who cheered and ''Eeeew''-ed at all the right parts. It was great fun, and the extremely pulpy new Indy turn did click with me. Indiana in the fridge was just...phenomenal. I must confess I haven't seen it a second time though, I will soon.
5. The Darjeeling Limited
Wes Anderson's new feature has all the man's trademarks and it is great because of it. Great use of Kinks songs.
6. Quantum of Solace
A fast, action packed thrill ride. Craig indeed is the most badass Bond there has ever been.
7. In Bruges
Less comedy and more drama then I'd had expected. Very original. Good music too.
8. Hunger
An example of pure cinema. No words are needed to sharply draw the characters. Very impressive.
9. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Burton gets tiring. But this was refreshing. A musical with lots of blood.
10. RocknRolla
Ritchie pays hommage to the Long Good Friday. A chase with invincible Russians is the undisputed highpoint of this flick. Looking forward to the DVD.

Eh, I kind of hate my list since it's mostly filled with summer flicks. I have yet to see any of the Oscar Bait films so once I see some I'm sure they'll crawl up on my list.

Now, if only I could see Milk come out in this area.

worst movies I saw this year remain:

1. The Punisher: War Zone
2. Mamma Mia!
3. The Other Boleyn Girl

See my sig for my top ten, I will say Hellboy 2 needs to be seen by more people, its an amazing film that any other year would have been film of the year IMO.

Is this supposd to a joke or a serious lust?

What the hell is your problem? Its not like I pick a part your posts and what not. Think before you post something as offensive like you just did based on the films I've seen and how I rated each of them. They're just films. Nothing more.

1. The Dark Knight-I don't give a **** what all the film snobs and doubters say about, I've yet to see anything as good this year.
2. The Wrestler-Excellent. Even though I still like Requiem and The Fountain I still think this was fantastic.
3. The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button-Despite some problems I had with the film, still one of the best of the year.
4. Wall-E-Not much to say about this movie. Just loved it.
5. Burn After Reading-Another great screwball comedy for the Coens.
6. Iron Man-Fantastic superhero film
7. Incredible Hulk-Same as above.
8. Tropic Thunder-Filled with laughs and RDJ really made a stellar performance.
9. The Strangers-Usually this probably wouldn't be on my overall top list, but with the sorry state of the horror genre it's nice to see something above average rise up.
10. Frost/Nixon-Great flick, really made a awesome movie out of a movie out of basically interviews.

Honorable mentions: Hellboy II and Vicky Cristina Barcelona, both were solid, but just got overshadowed by far better flicks.

Movies I haven't seen yet in '08: Revolutionary Road and Slumdog Millionaire. I doubt either of them are as good as The Dark Knight, to be honest, so I'm pretty sure neither will be in my number 1 spot.

YES!!! Finally someone else who loves Indy in the fridge! That was so damn awesome! I loved the tense build up to it. The whole beginning up to that point was the best part of the film.

My list:

1. Wall-E
2. Iron Man
3. In Bruges
4. Pineapple express
5. TDK
6. Hellboy 2
7. Tropic Thunder
8. Wanted
9. Hulk
10. Bond 22

In that order. I don't think 2008 was particularly a good year for films. I struggled after number 6 to think of others to make the list. They were okay, but not out-of-this-world-amazing that I would want to re-watch them again more than once on DVD.

My top 8, in no particular order (ok, alphabetical)
  • Burn After Reading
  • Dark Knight, The
  • In Bruges
  • Let the Right One In
  • Milk
  • Quantum of Solace
  • wall•e
  • Wrestler, The

I still have 3 movies (Choke, Slumdog Millionaire and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) and 1 documental (Man on Wire) to see but.. I wanted to post in this thread, heh :woot: I'm glad I could get to see a lot of 2008 movies (more than 25)--good for me.

*big huge outlandish LOL at the people naming movies from 2007 :funny: :whatever:

I'm only posting my top 5 because after that I'm not sure how I'd rate them. I still haven't seen a few of the big award contenders yet (I'm hoping to see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button this weekend, and catch Grand Torino and Frost/Nixon when I can, as well as some others)

1. The Dark Knight
2. Wall-E
3. Slumdog Millionaire
4. Milk
5. Iron Man

I can't believe no one picked "Disaster Movie". A underrated, modern classic.

YES!!! Finally someone else who loves Indy in the fridge! That was so damn awesome! I loved the tense build up to it. The whole beginning up to that point was the best part of the film.

I was sitting there witjh my jaw practically on the floor. When Indy emptied the fridge I was like: ''What? No way....'' and then when the fridge flew out of the explosion I was like; ''yes, WAY!'' :D

I knew then what kind of movie I was in for. Didn't everybody? You had plenty of time to get in synch with it, instead of hopelessly wishing it'd turn old school Indy again.

My revised top 10.

1. The Dark Knight

2. Ironman

3. The Strangers.

4. Burn after Reading

5. Hellboy 2

6. Wanted

7. In Bruges

8. Wall-E

9. Indy 4

10. The Incredible Hulk
