Top 10 films of 2009 that you're looking forward too.

You guys may be right. I really do hate most anything Michael Bay. And now that I think back on it, I remember sitting there just waiting for TF to end. Why would I want to pay go through that again?
How can you guys not like Transformers or The Rock. Bay is knwo for fun blow em up style of films. I like too see more bay films but only if they as goood as Transformers was for me.

The Rock is a great movie, and the only great movie I think Bay has ever done. TF was okay, but very lacking on plot. It is overrated.

Of course. I was the only one who mentioned Saw VI. I've enjoyed every single one so far. I will say that the sixth film needs to be the last one and I was one of the many who said they could've stopped at three.

But in my opinion they've managed to avoid entering into the crappy films that make pointless sequels. I will say that if I see a Saw VII advertised I will not watch it.

Agree with everything you just said,

I think Transformers was Bay's ONLY good film (well maybe not good...more like decent). He is a terrible film director in general but I had lots of fun watching Transformers. Its not a cerebral film, its just mindless action and fun...which I enjoy from time to time. Shia LaBeouf was actually very entertaining as the main charecter (and usually find him to be very annoying), the robot fighting was good eye candy, and the action sequences were pretty good for the most part.

Thats why I am excited for Transformers 2, its just suppose to be mindless fun and how hard can it be to make the next one better?

But goodness...Bay really does suck, Bad boys II...like really? come on, that has to be one of the worst films I've ever seen.

To avoid being repetitive, I can't wait to see the new films from my two favorite Asian filmmakers: Hayao Miyazaki's Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea, and The Lady from Shanghai from Wong Kar Wai. Let's hope we get both here in the States in '09.

I've only seen sections of The Rock, the trailer for Bad Boys II (which I couldn't wait for it to end) and a good chunk of Pearl Harbor (which is fairly decent once the actual bombing of Pearl Harbor goes underway, but fails in every other aspect). Transformers was the only Bay film I've seen in its entirety.

I wouldn't be opposed to his films if his action sequences were, you know, exciting. He either needs an editor who knows how to cut the action properly (using rapid-fast cutting or the slo-mo tactic isn't going to work every time) or stop using the most obvious angles when shooting them. Not to mention the trademark 360 camera spin used in his films are tiresome -- Nolan is one director who can get away with that trick since it helps draw the audience in, while Bay just uses it as a gimmick. Cool-looking explosions does not a cool action scene make.

Shia was the lone saving grace of TF (and I'm sure he'll do the same for TF-2). If anything, Spielberg just should've directed TF himself -- that would've been an entertaining film even with the exact same script and cast.

Bad Boys 2 used to be one of my favorite movies. It's still in my top 10 action movies. Call me braindead but slow motion is always cool, and I don't notice the quick-cuts. He's much better than all the shakycam directors

the ones i know of, therefore the ones i'm most anticipating

-watchmen
-terminator
-wolverine
-avatar
-harry potter
-fast & furious

In no particular order either....

-Angels and demons: because I wanna see if this is as disappointing as the DVC though the subject is far more adaptable and thrilling on the big screen

-Star trek: because I'm no trekkie but The trailer got me pumped !

- Public Enemies: because of the story, the cast, the director.....well everything !

-Watchmen: because it doesn't smell that good but that's still watchmen !

-Avatar: because even if I'm not a big fan of that kind of story it feels like an obligation around here to mention it !

-Transformers 2: because Michael Bay :woot::woot:

-2012: because I love natural cataclysms !

- Sherlock Holmes: because I'm curious to see how Ritchie dealt with the Holmes' universe in his own way !

-The Wolf Man : because I freakin' love the design of the beast !

-Terminator salvation: because of the same reason as the star trek's one !

I was pretty curious about Wolverine until I saw the trailer:csad: Anyway I think this will be a calm year for me: nothing that's gonna make me stay up all night like it did with TDK or QOS !

I forgot Inglourious bastard:o:woot:

Yeah, Saw VI would be like #19 or #20 on my top 20 list for 2009. There's so many other heavy hitters, it wouldn't be on my #10, but I'd definitely see it, just not necessarily in theaters since I took the time out of my life to see the first five.. :p
