Torchwood - Part 1

So I just saw this episode, and I think it's great to have Torchwood back. Have seen all the older seasons and loved them. When is the next episode coming out?

The creepy thing is I bet that amendment stuff he was saying to get out of prison is probably true

Doubtful since the aim of an execution is (as the name implies) to execute a person. Meaning, that a person's failure to die means that the sentence had failed to be carried out as death is the necessary outcome. That the chemicals fail to end life is no different from a hangman's rope snapping. Following the show's logic, executioners would not be allowed to deliver a second/third/etc dose for individuals who do not succumb to the first dose, and instead would be instead required to treat and release them.

It was funny how he just went I'll sue you and they just let him go.
Surely the governor and state will have a better lawyers than a pedo school teacher? Plus don't they take into account if a convicted criminal is a danger to the general public?

I think the Pullman character's got more to do with the government than we can see right now.

Perhaps he won them over delivering an indepdence day speech ;)

His character seems interesting and always like seeing him on screen.
It's too bad he's a bad guy and not a side-kick replacement.

He seems to be just gay these days. He hooks up with guys mostly. I can't remember the last time I saw him hit on a women ...........or some sort of alien

Exactly. He's like the type of gay dude that'll casually flirt with a chick every once in a while.

To be honest, the only time he seemed truly omnisexual was in the first series of New Who.

The show seemed to indicate that Pullman's character--and everyone else on Miracle Day, for that matter--did die, they just immediately revived afterward. Like Jack used to.

They said a few times, people were not dieing. Even if the heart stopped or the head was cut off they just wouldn't die. In Jack's case he would die and then heal and come back to life.

Hmm. Well, in that case, Pullman's character has no argument whatsoever. The fact that he got let out is just dumb because he can't even argue the technicality that his death sentence was carried out.

Also, NEWMAN!!!! :argh:

Wow. That
antidote search and creation
was one of the best non-combat action sequences I have ever seen on TV.

Heh, that was pretty funny. "I'm gonna need you to find that, Danny. QUICKER THAN THAT!!" :funny:

"You are not giving me formaldehyde!"

The whole exchange was great.

I'm liking the show so far, but is anyone else kinda annoyed with Mekhi Pfeifer's character? He really grates my nerves when he tries to flaunt his authority and turn his nose up whenever the Torchwood crew tries to talk about anything otherworldly in a serious manner with him, like he thinks he's above it and doesn't believe in it, when he of all people should at least be open to it.

I think it's on purpose (i.e. his character is supposed to be an arrogant prick) and that he isn't meant to be likable at this point; what with he being somewhat of an antagonist to the Torchwood crew. As for his skepticism, all paranormal/alien/conspiracy shows need a Mulder. Torchwood always had one - at first being Gwen, then her husband Rhys (Seriously, Rhys Williams? How much more stereotypically Welsh can you get without tying a sheep to a lamppost?), and now him.

Yeah, I think he's kind of a mouthpiece for Davies to get all his feelings about the American government out at this point. You know, like how all the government folks on Downing Street in Children of Earth were total asshats? Same thing, different government. But I suspect Rex will turn around over time. We already kind of saw it in the second episode, what with him and the Torchwood people having to rely on each other to escape his (even worse) fellow G-men.

I'm making a prediction, he'll be an asshat untill the last episode at which point he'll do something to save the day and have his moment of glory before the miracle stops and he dies.

Yeah, I suspect he'll wind up dead by the end of the season, too. I don't know about maintaining his asshatness until the very last episode, though. But Rex is totally not long for this world.
