Torchwood

A crossover between Torchwood and Dr. Who would be lovely. I hate how they always dodge the Doctor's name, too. The Torchwood people should all know about the Doctor. :o

Oh, and when did Toshiko meet the Doctor?

Tosh was the pathologist looking at the alien pig thing in "The Aliens Of London". :o

Oh mr smarty pants

We are not 100% if it was Tosh, however it definitely was the actress, but in the episode they only ever call her Dr. Sato, even so it probably is her since her name is Toshiko Sato.

Well, Martha Jones' identical cousin worked at the Canary Wharf Torchwood, not Martha herself...

And let's not forget Gwen looking eerily like Gwyneth from "The Unquiet Dead."

And the Hosts sound an awful lot like the Ood.

I've also heard rumors that Chipo Chung will be returning as a different character in season 4, so expect a human or different type of alien who looks an awful lot like Chantho.

RTD is famous for reusing actors he likes in different parts, like he got David Tennant from Cassanova, for those of you who haven't seen it it's essentially more sex than Torchwood, but less of a plot, but RTD is also kinda infamous for his shows being oversexed and over graphic, so what you gonna do.

i still think gwen is a reincarnated Gwyneth.

Why did the BBC think it was a good idea to get the creator of Queer As Folk and apparently an oversexed dealie called Casanova to make a family show like Doctor Who?

1. he was the most famous Doctor Who fan at the time
2. he approached them, not the other way round so without him it would never of happened
3. he was temporarily the "IT" writer

and some other crap a cba to mention, but the BBC spokespeople have said how extremely pleased they are with him, it's only really fanboys that don't like him.

Translation: "Ratings are up, so we have no reason to care what fans think."

I'm fairly certain RTD once said that he never reads what viewers are saying on the internet.

It shows.

True, but he's likely in some sort of minority, as far as science fiction TV producers go. Some producers and writers are known to check internet groups and forums to see what fans are responding to. God, I miss the days when I watched Stargate every week...

I know that show gave us 10 years of that!

I love how Martha is just the damsel in distress on Torchwood. she is constantley getting incapasitated. I swear shes was just put there to make the rest of them look good.

Maybe because he's not really a sci fi producer. He's a drama producer who happens to like Dr. Who. Kudos to him for getting it brought back, but beyond that he has no idea how to make good sci fi.

Indeed TNG Trek was more of the Sci Fi type of story with less drama.

I don't think Dr. Who needs to take it to that extreme, but you can see the earmarks of schlocky drama writing all over the current Dr. Who. The quasi-love affair with Rose, Martha's crush on the Doctor, just about everything in Torchwood, etc. It's not really what Dr. Who's supposed to be about, from what I've seen of the earlier series.

From what I have seen of the older series it felt very much like TNG to me. A more static and stiff look at your basic sci fi story with little or no drama.
