My name is Sentinel Prime and in my chest is the Autobot Matrix of Leadership, a repository of all knowledge of all Primes- the designation given to the leader of each generation of Autobots. As such, I am a Prime descended from Alpha Trion, and original Primus himself.

Primus- the first living robot, born of the Cube, an ancient artificat that breathes life into all things. It was the source of life on Cybertron, our homeworld.

For eons we lived in peace until one autobot, a young startup named Megatron attempted to steal the power of the cube himself. In the ensuing battle, the cube itself was disloged from Cybertron and now sails amongst the stars, its location--unknown.

As Prime, I have commisioned the secret construction of an Ark, a ship which will carry our greatest warriors to find the cube and bring it back. Megatron, hungry for power also searches for the cube.

Should he harness the cube's power for himself, I fear all will be lost. Not just for Cybertron, but for the universe itself.

youre gamemaster i can change it to make it be energon. or i could make it read, during the battle, the cube was destroyed, with only fragments remaining. These fragments are called energon.

Well I thought we were going for TV style plot. THat way it can never really end. With the cube, once you get it or destroy it it is over. With energon, there is always more to get. I thought Megatron would have rebelled because he wanted to rule. Once his energy reserves start to run low, he realizes they must get more energy from somewhere in space. Shockwave is told to look for a suitable planet, and he calls Starscream who is in the milkyway galaxy already. Starscream reports the planet earth has much reserves of energon to fuel their army, so Megatron leaves Cybertron with a group to gather more energy. Once he leaves, Prime finds out, and goes after him.

You can DO both, the cube being something more of a sub plot event deal, being capable of mass producing Transformers, so Megatron getting his hands on it would basically mean he can just mass produce an army, and still do Energon for the primary deal.

Without the cube to sustain us, we have been left to survive on fragments of the damaged cube, called energon. Their supply nearly exhausted, we have taken to search for energon on otherworlds which have been left by the cube as breadcrumbs--clues to its unknown location.

how bout this? that way, we have energon, but we also have the cube out there somewhere too.

I don't know. The cube is a big deal and I would hate to belittle it like that. Life is a big deal. We can't put energy above life.

But what about the rest of Cybertron?

I would vote to keep the cube, but make it more of an...event, sort of thing. Stumble across it, introduce a few new characters, maybe change up a few characters, then have it lost via some intentional thing to keep it out of Decepticon's hands.

that was my thinking--yes.

I mean, we shouldn't get RID of the cube. I'd personally like it more as something reminiscent of the Transmetal Driver, or an attempt to make an artificial Matrix or something. The Cube itself as it stands would be fairly tricky to incorporate.

Still, either everyone votes on whether they like the idea, or we incorporate the cube as a season II plot or something.

Why not have the cube be seperate pieces that once combine create the whole cube, that way you search for along with energon plus not one side will have all the pieces to the cube, making the whole story last longer.

i know its not a season one or even season two thing, but why not acknowledge its existence now, rather than having to retcon its existence in later?

Ok, we'll say we all came from the cube, but it was lost years ago. Once the cube was lost, Cybertron started going to hell, and Megatron started his rebellion. It is still lost in the dark reaches of space, and the transformers hope to find it again one day. This way, we keep the focus for now on energon gathering, but Megatron could later start a search for it.

History does not record how the cube was dislodged from Cybertron. Only that it was and that it now sails amongst the stars, its location--unknown. And so we have been forced to survive on remnants of the cube called energon.

For eons we lived in peace until one autobot, a young startup named Megatron attempted to accumulate more energon for himself than he needed in an attempt to overthrow the pervious Prime. His villiany and quest for power brought other autobot's to his side. Celebrating their betrayal, they have taken the name Decepticons.

Their supply of energon nearly exhausted, both Autobot and Decepticon alike have taken to search for energon on other worlds which have been left by the cube as breadcrumbs--clues to its unknown location.

As Prime, I have commisioned the secret construction of an Ark, a ship which will carry our greatest warriors to find energon and bring it back in the hopes of saving Cybertron. Megatron, hungry for power also searches for energon.

Should he accumulate too much energon he will become nigh unstoppable and I fear all will be lost. Not just for Cybertron, but for the universe itself.

Basically everyone who signed up is going on the arc. How else would you get to earth? There are a few who talked to me about staying on cybertron, or coming later.
