For those who haven't seen the first movie, here's CLU

CLU2.jpg
The only thing that ever bothered me was Clu's girlyman shriek, I always laugh when I hear it.

castor dying made me sad :(
for the brief time he had in the movie... he was one of my favourite characters :D

also.....
picked up the 7inch clu and sam flynn figures the other day (xmas presents)
flynn comes with his disc and the light cycle baton
and clu comes with his disc and his energy sword

they light up, they talk aswell...
the lights power up through the suits to the helmet which lights up an holigraphic image of their faces

I'm looking for the life size Quorra and Gem dolls that are pose-able.

Has anyone picked up the comic book prequel to Tron Legacy? is it good? worth getting it? or maybe just wait for the collected TPB.

I have just ordered it, it's called "Tron: Betrayal" I've heard pretty positive things about it, seems to explain a few things, I'll post somebody's review on it, beware spoilers:

This isn't just a throwaway comic - it feels like a lot of thought went into "Tron: Betrayal".

Kevin Flynn wants to create a perfect world inside the computer, but his real-life duties to Encom and to his son Sam require him to be absent for long periods of time. He creates the program Clu to run things in his absence, but eventually even Clu begins to feel abandoned by his maker and decides to take a more aggressive role in building the perfection he believes his creator wants. The comic explains what happened to Lora and to Sam's mother and where the "Isos" come from. It annotates the story with comparisons to the gradual rise and sudden fall of Rome.

This is an inexpensive story, the artwork is well done, and I'd say it's a must-read for fans of the original movie who want to get more out of the sequel.

My avatar is actually from that graphic novel. It's Kevin Flynn. Kinda hard to tell because the picture is so small, but yeah. :woot:

I loved that scene. :awesome:

I also love it when Flynn is all "BECAUSE, man, SOMWHERE in one of these "memories" is the *evidence*! If I got in far enough, I could reconstruct it."

I love it when he crashes the recognizer in the city and nobody cares.

gets up

"I'm okay! I'm okay!"

no one cares

"Wow. This place is full of live ones."

:awesome:

How awesome would it have been if when Flynn
merged with Clu, Clu had let out that girlie scream?
Oh man, that would've been priceless.

Been listening to the Daft Punk soundtrack since I bought it. Seriously, awesome stuff on it. Love the song "C.L.U." listening to it right now. :D

I just downloaded from itunes , listened to "end of line" a few times , Daft Punk really killed it .

Just got back from seeing it and I gotta say I really enjoyed it. I didn't go in with any expectations or loyality to the 1st film because I was about 3 when it was released, and I still haven't seen it. In that sense, I came in with a fresh perspective and I thought it was cool.

I've never seen the actor who played Flynn's son before , but I thought he was alright. Olivia Wilde of course is cute as hell, and loved the concept of the old Jeff Bridges vs the young Jeff Bridges.

Did anyone else laugh pretty hard when Sam is explaining that he dropped out of college and Quorra randomly starts to laugh at the most inappropriate time while both the Flynns both stare at her awkwardly.

Wilde is a great actress. I really can't wait to see her in Cowboy and Aliens she really seems to lend so much talent to even the smallest roles.

i guess the movie was OK

everything i knew that would be good was good. the soundtrack was great and the effects and action was amazing. the story was good enough for an expensive blockbuster.
i liked Quorra and Rinzler was badass(Darth Maul badass).

a big problem was the pacing. the movie is way to slow for a blockbuster. the editing in some scenes didnt work and i sometimes Daft Punks music didnt fit with the scene.

i also think that Tron legacy is way to dark for a 3D movie. the movie is already dark and has low diffuse lighting. with the glasses you sometimes couldnt see what kind of facial expression the characters had.

the movie is also was to confusing for the general public since they didnt watch the first movie. way to many connections and homages to the fans. like Kevin Flynn. noone from my friends knew that he was talking like that because of the first movie.

This movie = best soundtrack win at the Academy Awards. Make it happen Academy *****es. Best Soundtrack of 2010 :woot:

I also loved

Clu's nuanced look at the 'bit' on Flynn's mantlepiece. Nice nod to the original.

Thanks for the videos and articles Kane and dark_b they show and describe some pretty amazing stuff. Really goes to show the amount of work that went into this movie.

It's like bio digital jazz man.

I know some people didn't like it but it still puzzles me where the "bad" CGI criticism are coming from. Maybe it could have been from the 3D showings which according to you dark_b didn't really work well due to the films dark color palette with the 3D glasses to make it more dark didn't quite help.

I saw it in 2D large screen and the CGI looked quite spectacular.

I must be from another planet or universe because Legacy owns my ass right now. I'm just kind of flabbergasted at the response from critics on this film.

There's big ideas floating in this film that are really, really interesting. This whole notion that this film doesn't have a coherent story or purpose kind of stuns me. Did we watch the same film?

Not saying this film doesn't have it's flaws in certain areas but this film is almost overflowing with story and thematics.

The religious overtones (which, yeah, has a "Matrix" vibe to it)...a new spin on the sci-fi cliche of artificial intelligence that goes right back to the religious aspects of the film...the allegory on the idea of information in the digital age we live in now...life...etc, etc...

Maybe I'm just easily fooled or easy to please but this film owns Avatar's ass on almost every level.

You know J I have the same feeling too. I'm really at a loss at the negative reception.

Even a certain websites podcast that I usually enjoy listening to completely ripped it apart in the dumbest ways possible. Which made me just think that they hated the concepts of the original and say they like the first Tron because it's "hip" to say they like it, because thats what they were mostly criticizing.

Regardless of being a fan of the original or not, I still thought that some of the ideas that we're being weaved had some real weight to them. [BLACKOUT]Flynn starting out as a coordinating God of sorts with programs (Tron & Clu2) to help structure other programs to one day find the Isomorphs a natural entity with a DNA structure.[/BLACKOUT]

I mean how is this being call devoid of thought? Puzzling.

Good to see that someone else think that Legacy is getting seriously lowballed for some real ludicrous reasons. It's funny that the first Tron got an almost identical reception when it came out.

Great interview J. They really tapped into what I most enjoyed about the film, the idea's beyond what is directly stated. Like, what implications do the Iso's have in the real world?

The fact that this sort of stuff is in a 250 million dollar film and people are still insulting it baffles me. Weren't these the same people who were saying "intelligent sci-fi" is back when District 9 came out?

Because the Isomorphs had a DNA structure that was incorruptible unlike programs and users even.

This means that once she was in our world they could somehow study her DNA and somehow be able to introduce it at the in vitro stage or something like that. I'm no biology major so I may be way off with my idea here but I think thats the basic gist.

They could also solve a ton of diseases and other illnesses I'm sure like Flynn mentioned.
