For those who haven't seen the first movie, here's CLU

CLU2.jpg

i like to think that Daft Punk left the club once Clu and his goons were there. remember, there was no more music playing when Castor and Clu were negotiating Kevin's disk

Ah that's right. Yeah the place cleared when CLU got there. Still the hot blonde chick was a waste.

If you remember the news of people chanting during the Tron Legacy comic con 2010 press conference, well this is why if you've seen the movie

and heres Olivia Wilde on Ellen (why am I posting this? you'll see :awesome::hrt: )

didnt they blow up the elevator?????
Yeah but the music stopped early. Hopefully daft punk took off early and didn't get vaporized with Gem and Castor.

Seriously CLU is dumb for not taking Gem with him. Yeah nuke Castor for double crossing, but Gem is mega hawt and who is gonna dress new game contestants?

I was thinking Gem should have confidently marched her way to safety with Clu and his goons. She might have drawn a few stares from them, but I think she'd probably get away with it.

castor dying made me sad :(
for the brief time he had in the movie... he was one of my favourite characters :D

also.....
picked up the 7inch clu and sam flynn figures the other day (xmas presents)
flynn comes with his disc and the light cycle baton
and clu comes with his disc and his energy sword

they light up, they talk aswell...
the lights power up through the suits to the helmet which lights up an holigraphic image of their faces

So that's where that came from!

Watched the movie the second time around, but on 2D instead. It's still a good movie nonetheless. I also paid more attention to the [BLACKOUT]clues that point to Jarvis being the real Zues.[/BLACKOUT]

I'm hoping Daft Punk receives an Oscar nomination. Those beats was dope.

lolwut?

Been listening to the Daft Punk soundtrack since I bought it. Seriously, awesome stuff on it. Love the song "C.L.U." listening to it right now. :D

We shall see. The Academy seems to have gone disqualification crazy film scores, today.

yeah, this is good news for Daft Punk

Black Swan, Fighter, Kids & True Grit Scores Disqualified for Oscar
http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=72563

Variety reports that the scores for Black Swan, True Grit, The Kids Are All Right and The Fighter will be disqualified for the 83rd Academy Awards.

The trade says that Black Swan and True Grit scores won't be competing because they are "diluted by the use of tracked themes or other pre-existing music." Clint Mansell's score for Black Swan is adapted from Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake," while Carter Burwell's True Grit score, based on 19th century hymns, is not sufficiently "original."

The scores for The Kids Are All Right and The Fighter won't be competing because they are "diminished in impact by the predominant use of songs."

How much has the film grossed as of today? Anyone know?

lolwut?
Scratch that, but it's just that
  1. Jarvis wanted CLU to let him help in the initiative of building the army, although CLU doesn't trust him. Not important but anyway.
  2. When Quorra gave Sam the "thing" (not sure what it was but it was located in a book) so Sam could locate the sector Zuse was in, well Sam never found the sector since he got interrupted by Gem, who lead him to End of Line club.
  3. When CLU and his gang was in Kevin's "home" Jarvis went to a specific book and look into it, which was the same book Quorra gave the thing so Sam could locate Zuse.
  4. When Sam went back to get Kevin's identity disc Jarvis didn't put up a fight and just let Sam takes it, and he also said "Long live the users".
  5. Before Jarvis got killed he said something revolution to CLU (didn't quite hear it).
  6. Last it's that in the game Tron Evolution the character Zuse was voiced by James Frain, who played Jarvis in Legacy.

But contradiction: Zuse in the game looks like Castor so never mind, but it's quite odd with Jarivs nontheless.

I enjoyed the movie very much and thought it was wonderful in many ways. A lot of subtext that may be missed the same can be said for its predecessors for similar yet slightly different reasons.

Anyway the film was incredibly entertaining and the parts that some people found dull or as pure exposition completely worked for me as this happened several times in the first film.

The great thing about Tron is the ideas set around this ficitional stylistic digital realm. Thats what makes it great along with the simple yet effective vehicle designs.

Wonderful film I thoroughly enjoyed myself. As a big admirer of the original film I can't say I was disappointed.

Also to those who say that they thought Tron was handled poorly I say that the poor guy has always played second fiddle just more so in Legacy. Sorry to say that as I like the character but thats just the way its sort of been since the first movie.

Digital Domain and Quantam Creations along with everybody else involved in the VFX/SFX process really outdid themselves.

When Jarvis got killed, he was actually in the process of saying ''Death to the Users'' to try and reaffirm his commitment to Clu so that he wouldnt kill him - it showed how much of a spineless weasel he was as he'd said ''Long Live the Users'' or somesuch to Sam so that he didnt get his ass kicked.

Just got back from the movie, and despite the bad reviews, I have to say that I thouroughly enjoyed it but my fiance was bored almost to tears. I genuinely think that whether you love it or hate it hinges on whether you appreciate the orignal.

I loved seeing
Tron in there (the Clu betrayal scene was great)
and while the Clu facial fx did look iffy in places, it was good in the most part and absolutely amazing in certain places. Yes, the pacing and score editing was a bit hit and miss, but I enjoyed the movie regardless because of my love for the original.

Well when Sam got cut in the disc fight, blood came out. So maybe they still need to eat, too.

Also, the programs drank, so maybe everyone needs sustenance.

I was also thinking the programs were updating but yeah it was really interesting to see Sam bleed in there.

people ate and drank when in The Matrix ;).

That also makes sense , that it could of just been a mental thing but idk.

I saw the movie again, and my opinion is the same. Hedlund was bad as the lead, and Bridges' mo-cap sucked badly. The acting was okay, but nothing special. I like the subtext and themes of the film, but the script is very flawed. Several scenes were totally unneccessary. Also, most characters are criminally underdeveloped. Rinzler had 3 lines! The effects mostly were amazing, though.

Like I said in my earlier post, this is a decent movie, but not great by any means.

I think my favorite scene was the fight scene in the club. Then when Kevin Flynn goes god-mode, it was oh so cool.
