It's a nice trailer.

the problem was not the money.
in Benjamin a young Brad was doing motion capture for a fat old Benjamin.
That effect was done using a 2D approach, using photos of a younger Brad.but they also de-aged brad from a 40-something to a 20-something pretty realistically...
Maybe I'm just not up on Tron lore, but why is
Tron renamed "Rinzler" when Clu re-appropriates him? Does the name have some sort of significance besides being a misidentifier?
I don't think so...
By the way, I'm re-editing the original Tron to sound and look more like the new one - the trailer is done in the style of the Tron: Legacy Teaser (the music took 30 cuts from the soundtrack to reproduce!!!!)

The same approached was used on X-Men 3.
You don't know that. That's pretty bad. No Tron 3. Sorry, guys. I know some of you were looking forward to it.![]()

...but with significantly better prospects for the sequel and higher word of mouth that led to an above-average multiplier. Neither of which Tron can rely on at this point.batman begins got a sequel with a $375m WW (box office mojo) take.

That puts Legacy at $153.7M worldwide.Tron: Legacy, Disney's high-budget 3D sequel to 1982's Tron, which captured $26.6 million from 5,475 venues in 34 territories, boosting its box office total so far to $65.5 million after two rounds on the foreign circuit.

Via The-Numbers:'above average multiplier' can you explain that to me please.
I believe BB's multiplier was around 4 -- well above the performance of a summer blockbuster. Of course, this was helped by the fact it had a fairly 'standard' opening weekend. But it had excellent word-of-mouth all the same.Internal Multiplier
A film's weekend box office divided by its Friday number. It's basically a measure of the film's word-of-mouth, with 3.0 being the best most films can get these day while 2.3 is generally the bottom rung. Certain films have an inherent advantage (like those aimed kids), while the Fanboy Effect can shrink the number as the hardcore fans flock to the movie on Friday.
Multiplier
A film's total box office divided by its opening weekend box office. Another measure of the film's word-of-mouth but with a much wider range of possibilities. Films with below 2.0 are not unheard of, while 6.0 or more are a possibility. Just as a side note, not too long ago films with a multiplier of 10 or more were quite common, but the economics have changed and a big opening weekend is too important to the studios and the home market shortens a film's legs.
With $300 million spent on production and advertising Disney will be eating a big loss here. Throw in the loss from Tangled because of its huge budget ($260 million) and Bruckheimers two summer bombs Prince of Persia and Sorcerers Apprentice and its been a tough 6 months for Disney.
