The reason people are not going to see this in droves is because it isn't that good. I agree with ISS, Avatar, while not original in the least, was groundbreaking and Cameron knows how to get people attached to his characters, pace dialogue, and write action. Tron struggled a lot more in these phases of filmmaking than Avatar or many other blockbuster films do, though the concept itself is perhaps more original. Tron's issue to me was in execution, not in the idea itself.

Saw it again today... Thought it was even better the second time. :D

i hope it does better worldwide, i'd really love a sequel :(
Me too, me too. :woot: I'll keep hoping for a sequel. I'd love to see Cillian Murphy return for the next one as Edward Dillinger Jr. He's a great actor.

I think your problem and a lot of ppl who love movies is their expectations are off, so when they see a movie like Tron.L they expect more because of the long wait to see it, and the hype it generated. I thought it was a good movie for what it was.

I didn't expect a great movie, nor did I expect great BO returns. But, many expected both. The movie itself is okay, but nothing special. The Tron brand wasn't worth much prior to this film, so why would a sequel many years later be some giant phenomenon? It's not that I hated the film, I just disagree with it being labeled as a brilliant film. It wasn't. This is more what I am arguing.

I don't think the problem with tron is people not seeing it, I think the problem with tron is people not needing to see it more than once. I think tron will be a hit on blu ray.
personally speaking I don't need to see tron again at the cinema and I didn't really think the movie was that great but I will DEFINATELY get it on blu ray (if that makes sense).

I think we'll see another TRON movie in theaters. I didn't particularly enjoy the first movie, it was entertaining but this one I enjoyed much better.

It wasn't until after the second viewing that I understood why the grid was so different from the first flick.

The whole introduction to new life forms (which immediately get killed off) and the [BLACKOUT]death of Flynn[/BLACKOUT] at the end kind of brought the film down for me. But over all it was still an enjoyable film with good action and set pieces. 7/10.

please without jokes.
Tron was not a big hit and was not good to the general public in the 80's. the pacing was so bad that i lost 20 years of my life.
noone expected much more from the story.Tron Legacy has bad pacing for a blockbuster.
lets take a look at Inception. yes its smarter then 99% of blocbkusters. its more inteligent. but Nolan knew and was smart to know that pacing is very important with expensive blockbusters. look at TDK and Inception. the pacing is fantastic.

i think they had fantastic ideas with Tron Legcy. bu so what? so f.... what. i didnt pay a ticket for a philosophy class. or for ideas. i payed money for a movie.

The pacing was fine. A film with bad pacing would be either Prince of Persia (weird mixes of action and downtown, and then action, then downtown and the weirdest moments... - don't get me wrong, films can have downtown, just not randomly as if the writers were like "k... now what?". A perfect example of a film with perfect downtime use is Gladiator), King Kong (fantastic film, but the core story is very simple and short and it is stretched out too long) or Clash of the Titans (too much going on for one film). Trust me, you over hyped it. I learned back in 2006 not to do that. ****ing 2005/2006... :shakesfist:

What they should have had happen was as C.L.U. - 2 was trying to stop Kevin from escaping then Tron comes in to kick C.L.U. - 2's ass & then Tron saves Kevin by doing a mini Fastball Special with Sam catching Kevin on the other side & then we see Tron as they escape successfully destroy C.L.U. - 2

I still have not gotten to see this yet, but when watching the Top 10 Worst films of 2010 by reviewer TheSpoonyOne, Spoony said something that I think may well have offended half the movie-going crowd. Spoony claimed that this was in his Top worst because it was flashy and nice looking, but had a really stupid story, and claime dif you thought this was really good then your standards are way too low.

Despite being a fan of Spoony, I'm still going to see it and hope I really enjoy it.

Shame that this film isn't performing up to par. Honestly, I don't think it's anything special, but I enjoyed it a lot. I can't even imagine how much Disney's spent on this since the test footage reveal.

the $170 Million counts for the test footage and all the years developing the movie

Legacy wasn't handled that well as I hoped, it's partly because of the screenwriters and that Garrett Hedlund wasn't so good as a lead.
I still like the movie though, the main point being because Daft Punk handled the soundtrack.

te movie looks like its over 200 :cwink:

I doubt it, people said it cost more than Avatar, one report said $300+ million but then Disney contact them and said its not true

http://blog.boxofficespy.com/2010/01/tron-legacy-box-office-budget-tron-2.html

(Update: Disney has stated that Tron Legacy did NOT cost this much to produce, but they still haven't released an official budget number for the film. Insiders report that Tron Legacy's budget is estimated at $170 million, but Walt Disney don't report budgets themselves.)

I really doubt that. Knowing shady studio accounting, the money put into Tron, commercial and production wise, must be insane. This movie will probably follow in the same veign as the 5th Harry Potter, the New Line vs. Peter Jackson fiasco, Avatar's unclear budget, etc.
