this would be a fantasic if everything is explained when the son is introduced to the tron world.
thats why tron fans or people who saw the first movie can and should not be angry if they will explain things that you already know from the first movie. some of you are from a group of people that saw the first movie. this group is very small.

if the story is only for the fans then i guess the movie will not be very popular with the masses. but we who are fans of that kind of movies win. so even if it bombs we win because we got a big budget movie.

Why so upset, Gilly?
The bottom of the barrel for stupid comments keeps going further and further down.

Apparently people that were fans of Tron... don't count, because 'the group is very small'. So that means they should welcome any attempt to appeal to the masses. Wait... I thought people hated Michael Bay and his movies?

I'm....I'm a fan of the original Tron. Granted I just watched it last night. :o

Are we still friends? :o

i will not report you if i can call you an idiot? :)
joke of course.

but serious now. you think Disney is going to spend 150-200 millions on a movie where people wont understand the main story?

and yes tron fans dont count. like spiderman fans ,superman fans, batman fans,... dont count. big budget movies make money because of the general public and not because of fans .

Wow. You're just full of these wonderful tid-bits. Did you work on the original Blade Runner? "LET'S MAKE HIM NARRATE THE THING! SO PEOPLE WILL GET IT!"

I think Sam going to look for his dad is a wonderful idea, to be honest. Granted it's a completely made up story considering the ending of Tron itself.

Correction here. I enjoyed the movie and have fond feelings but being a "fan" doesn't somehow blur all of our senses.

I personally don't mind if they figure out a way to retell the events of Tron (Disney/Kosinski probably went this route). They probably should, as people will probably call it "confusing" if they decide to tell it throughout the film (I don't mind this either because I've seen the film and the director should never be bound to a certain way of storytelling because this is being continued after 20+ years).

Your making this into a bigger deal than it needs to be. The plot of Tron is fairly simple and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out.

All you'll need is a pair of eyes, ears, and an fairly decent attention span. As long as you got those your good.

can someone make me an avatar from this?

I think it terms of the general public "understanding" the film and its backstory, we should look at last summers Star Trek as a fine example of how to make a great film thats both easily accesible and respects the original continuity. Did you have to have seen all of TOS and its respective films in order to understand the film? Absolutely not. If you have, however, the film is elevated much higher than a standard action film.

If Disney can aim to make a film that hits both groups (i.e. fans/non-fans) in a satisfactory way, they'll have a hit on there hands.

thanks Rezzo

it looks like i will become obssesed with this movie in the next months he he:hehe:

Trial of the hardcore : can you tell me where/when we can see the sentence "klaatu barada niktu" and an animated PacMan ? :)

When people suggested that Michael Sheen is an MP3 player type program I had to make this:
