I thought the de aged jeff bridges was the most well done effect in the movie. sure you can tell in parts that it's fake, it's cgi, you can do this w/ all cgi. but unless you're looking for flaw you won't see anything but what they want you too. it's brilliantly done.

about the CGI Jeff Bridges. has anyone even heard any complaining from the general public? or complaining on forums that are not only about movies?

because i can not find anything.

he looked CGI.thats a fact. the question is if he failed with the general public?

honestly when i saw CLU the CGI didnt bother me since he was supposed to be a computer generated simulation of Flynn

People have been wondering what happens to Quorra now that she's in the real world - one of my friends told me last night that he thinks [presumably] one of the 1st things she's going to have to learn is how to go the toilet and when to shave her legs and armpits seeing that somehow he couldnt see the female programs having to do that in the grid.

You gotta laugh at some peoples thought processes.

:D

Here's a interview with the writers.

http://blog.moviefone.com/2010/12/21/tron-legacy-screenwriters-interview/

Does Clu control Rinzler? Or how is their relationship meant to be interpreted, given his transformation later?

Horowitz: [Clu] repurposed Tron into Rinzler, and that's the key difference between Clu and Kevin Flynn - Kevin Flynn could create, Clu could repurpose. All Clu can do is destroy or repurpose, and what he did with Rinzler was, he took Tron and repurposed him. Can he completely control him? No. But I think the idea for us was that the way we wanted to play it is he forgot who he was. It's almost like amnesia. But there was a core to his programming so deep that when he first sees the blood trickle and he says, "User," that's like the first step of like that really core program reawakening.

Kitsis: But when he gets face-to-face with Kevin Flynn is when it slowly starts to come back. So because Kevin was off the Grid and he was hiding for so many cycles, as we say, he never had the opportunity.

i think htey have a problem how it was presented. and the dialoge.

I don't know, I thought the dialogue between Sam and the guard was funny. As for how it was presented... what was the issue there? It wasn't realistic? Was ANYTHING about this movie presented as being realistic? I mean, it's a great fantasy/sci-fi story but I don't believe that computer programs have personalities.

Really, the only dialogue that bugged me in the movie were some of the things Sam yelled during some of the battle sequences (which I would blame on the screenwriters, not Hedlund) and some of Kevin Flynn's "Dude" lines. But even those didn't ruin anything for me.

And I suppose you do have to consider that if Sam was a big video game guy like his father, it would make sense that, despite the stakes, he would enjoy being stuck in a real life video game. So with respect to that, some of his lines do make sense.

So your basing your argument on something that you can not possibly quantify?

Nature of the art. You evaluate based on perception, not anything quantifiable.

What you want is exposition for the sake of exposition. No mas.

How much do we really know about Bruce Wayne in either Batman '89 or Begins other then he is afraid of bats, his parents died and he traveled a bit?

Because Bruce Wayne's dual nature was explored and shown. It was just done in a subtle fashion as opposed to Nolan's method of flashbacking.

Your missing my point. If it was Sam's story, Flynn's presence would be unnecessary. It could be Sam v. Clu. Sam is simply a means to an end. A reason for Flynn and Clu to finally do battle.

Sam's lack of "importance" is shown in Flynn's willingness to sacrifice himself for Sam boggles Clu's mind.

Sam was part of the Flynn legacy. He's the one who is supposed to carry it on for Flynn. The man Kevin Flynn was is firmly put in place. He had been on the grid fighting that battle for years. This film WAS about Sam learning why his dad left, coming to terms with it, and carrying on that legacy. It was Sam's story. He was vitally important. But, the film opted to do so by having him face his father in not a symbolic sense, but an outright one. I don't see how anyone can argue Sam wasn't important to the story. This is why him not being a gripping character is a problem.

she becomes the first Android I think lol

Cyborg to be more exact. As long as she is anatomically correct all is good.

It'll be released here on Xmas day, so I was wondering: Is the 3D worth it or should I just watch it in good old fashioned 2D?

3D....the 3D digital Disney logo was worth the price of admission alone IMO

-the 3D depth is not very strong. since its a dark movie you dont see a lot since glasses darken the image.
-since there is a lot of glowing there is a lot of ghosting and a lot of strobing.
-they did the best 3D that they could for a movie that was filmed in 2009. but it has some problems that they couldnt fix .

i saw it in IMAX and didnt have any of those issues

so what if you didnt have any issues?

well you brought forth reasons why the 3D was not good....i mentioned that in my viewing of the movie
-there was strong 3D depth
-no ghosting or strobing

His face worked but it's not there yet. True he was a CG simulation, so were the other programs.

The only counter argument would be the brief shot in the beginning with young Sam. Even though it was quick, they probably shouldn't have showed his face because it was jarring.

So is Sam and Quorra gonna get together? It seems like it but it was so distant. (though there were hints)

She'd have given it up without a second thought :woot: - she seemed so much in Awe of Sam, he'd only have to click his fingers.

true but the other programs were just that while CLU was mimicking Flynn...maybe im thinking about it too hard

so you disagree with the makers of the movie that said that they didnt use strong 3D depth in the movie?less is more and i agree :cwink:

there will always be strobing when something moves very fast. it was in Avatar and in all movies. some notice it and some dont. but it is there. ;)

if it was not ghosting then it was a stylistic choice from Digital Domain where they made a second glowing effect that was offset(i disagree).

I didn't have issues with the 3D either. I also saw it on IMAX, so maybe that's why, I don't know. The scenes that weren't in 3D didn't bother me becuase the ones that were, like the lightcycle race, were spectacular.

They need to change the way films are edited and the way the camera moves for 3D to work. Fast cuts don't suit 3D at all.

I don't know if Tron Legacy addressed this but it sounds like they didn't.
