Two-Face/Harvey Dent Thread

Oh my god, dude!!! :wow:

What Two-Face GN do you have?!

Batman: The Long Halloween
Batman Year One (features Harvey Dent)
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns
Batman Begins Movie Adaptation (I know this doesn't have Harvey but I like BB)

This is a not GN:

The Dark Knight Movie Tie-In by Danny O'Neil

It carries from BB as well.

After TDK, 2Face is my favorite Bat-Villian. Here's some Fan art I did of 2Face (after seeing TDK)

And the I colored it(Tim Sale inspired colors)

Nolan and Co. Have Made the Batman Universe so different that it has changed my mind on alot of things that we've know from the comics. one of them is Harvey

I believe that after The Dark Knight, ever writer should make Two Face a Vigilante that only kills the bad. I mean Two Face Robbing Second national backs? Why? Two Face Is a Tragedy. I'm not talking about him being the punisher but him doing things that make sense and not just using his coin to pick red or blue
like taking out the ones that have hurt him in the past......like batman

he's a man Who stood up against the corrupt only to turn into it

He's angry at the world for what he has become

That's Two-Face

not some gimmick villain

I'm beginning to think Nolan & company know more about the comic book mythos then we think they do

My friend, your words are the epitome of the epic fail. Have you even read a Two-Face comic? Or do you just go on the petty words of others?

The Two-Face in TDK is not even an ounce of the fleshed out character he is in the comics, with heaps of stories with him killing mobsters, trying to undo what he believes as wrongs, imposing his own order, getting revenge and not to mention his many psychotic breakdowns, love interests and tear jerking moments. He brings out the best in comic writers really.

Oh yeah, and Epic fail.

Try to pick up Batman: Featuring Two-Face and the Riddler and Batman vs Two-Face for sure! Also, pick up the Joker Asylum: Two-Face one shot written by David Hine! He's my favorite writer and was excited that he wrote my favorite character. Heh, and I was buggin' him to write Harvey for a long while too. :O

Well, Harvey's obsession with commiting crimes with the number 2 were always a staple of the characters since the very beginning. Back then it was just a fun time. Now that the books have gotten seriously, it did seem weird, but some stories tried to find ways of making it make sense. In the Batman: TAS, all the banks that he was robbing with the number 2 were banks owned by his mobster enemies.

And one thing I love about the character is that he can be written with a different interpretation and I think it works well due to the nature of his mind. He's the most undecisive villain and his judgment of right and wrong are confusing to him. Sometimes he's a bastard of a jerk who feels that it's his duty to see if someone is worthy of life, sometimes he feels the need to punish someone due to justice, etc. Just don't have him a crackin' maniac who laughs every second! :cmad:

I actually preferred TLH over DV, but DV has Two-Face as a bad-ass leader of the freaks and it's a blast reading!

Oh, and if you really wanna get an extremely bad-ass Harvey, I would also recommend Robin: Year One!

I love the artwork!

Who are the author & artist?

Chuck Dixon and Scott Beatty on writing, Javier Pulido and Marcos Martin on pencil, Robert Campanella on Ink, Lee Loughridge on color, and Sean Konot on Letters.

The art is such a fantastic blast to look at, too! And so is seeing how Robin had affected Batman as he's so damn chipper to have it around in the beginning of the book.

Two Face year one is out right now. The first part is in stores and the second is due out this month. So far it manages to parallel TDK almost in comic form. Well drawn but doesnt break any new grounds.

I thought that was a fantastic read! Mark Sable is a great chap as I had met him at the NYCC and showed me at the time the pencils for the first part. We chatted a few times on his forum about the character and that was when I knew for sure I knew Harv was in good hands!

I can't wait for part 2 as I feel Sable is really going to go all out in story with having Two-Face, not Harvey, run for D.A. That's actually something that's never been touched on. And the art was great also.

One thing I also loved about the story is the relationship between Bruce and Harvey. I loved how they were best friends in the animated series but in the comics they hardly ever interacted. It was Batman Harvey was friends with. And since I was little I always wanted Bruce and Harv to have a friendship and although it's a bit of a ret-con, I liked how they were portrayed as friends in this story.

Two-Face is probably my favourite Batman-villain. I recently bought Batman B&W Volume 1, and its got Bruce Timm's "Two of a kind" in it, really awesome story. Remember reading it a long time ago in some book about batman, and I loved it just as much back then.

For those who have yet to read Two of a Kind, here it is. Definitely one of the best Harvey stories. You can pick it up in Batman: Black and White or Batman vs Two-Face.

I'd never seen that comic before... that was great.

I like Bruce Timm stories, I def. pick this up.

Two things (get it? :cwink:) that I love about that story is that a), Two-Face never flicks a coin. That may sound strange as it is an essential part of the character, but it is nice to see that some times both Harvey AND Two-Face agree and disregard there belief for a moment. This also adds depth, as it shows like many other DC characters that he can be stretched beyond his beliefs occasionally.

And b), I love that it is Harvey, not Two-Face that kills Madeline. It makes it so much sadder, Harvey really loved Marilyn and though Two-Face loved the darkness in Madeline's soul Harvey recognised that all he was seeing was a look a like.

Yes! Definitely! I love to hear when other people catch that also! That was something I always felt was extremely powerful in the story. It could have been interpreted in different ways that Harvey's love for Marilyn caused him to kill Madeline, all he needed was a little push from Two-Face and/or both sides probably really loved Marilyn as she brought some type of peace to them.

Thanks for this thread! You've all given me some good ideas of what to read. I've purchased some comics and graphic novels based on the recommendations here! And the Bruce Timm comic was great read... if only B:TAS had been more like that! I was a mature kid; I could've handled it.
