I liked the N64 very much, and I still have it hooked up. The Gamecube is just much less a draw.
I think the "wrong" thing done with Nintendo's decreasing popularity is.. that gamers are growing up. Many gamers, young and old, are no longer interested in what would be "deemed" kiddie games. They're interested in fun, fast-paced games that you can play with friends and have a blast playing.
My reason for thinking this is the fact that the mario franchises and alike have lost popularity over the years.. while games like Halo, Halo 2 reach the peak of popularity. I suppose Nintendo just needs to aim in both places.. instead of at a lower level all the time.
