Age of Ultron Ultron! We Would Have Words With Thee! Official Thor/Chris Hemworth Thread - Part 1

Yeah I felt they got his power level right in this one, so much so that Ultron had to divert his entire attention directly onto Thor and as he assessed him as his biggest threat and needed to distract him while his plan was being executed.

Did Ultron actually say Thor was his biggest threat?

The clip of Thor and Cap saving those people on the bridge was just released.

https://youtu.be/4ngmj5FGcyg

Is there things left out of the clip becuase it doesn't show Thor flying with the car just him dropping it.

I never really got

Thors hallucination, was he afraid of turning into a destroyer like the Hulk or something or was it like foreshadowing somethong or...I dunno. It confused me.

Like Hemsworth said it's about corruption of power. I think Thor is so hungry for power and battle that it could mean the end of Asgard because of that. It could also mean that he probably won't be able to control the amount of power given to him without going crazy. I'm guessing it opens doors such as the Odin Force and Warrior Madness.

Hm, thanks

I actually recently had a theory that Thor might gain the Odin Force in Ragnarok. I had completely forgot that Warriors Madness even existed, but that would also be an interesting route for the character.

Thor has had a few moments in the movies that hints at him loosing control a bit in terms of batlling and reacting to it.

He's more wise than before but the apetite for battle is never gone.
But he still is very defiant and confident on his abilities and not yet ready to rule Asgard. Imo

He needs to learn a few things before he can become King. If he where to be King without learning those lessons then it could very well end up in chaos.

Did Ultron actually say Thor was his biggest threat?

He attacked him directly said something like "you're starting to annoy me Thor" which you can assume because Thor was wasting his army pretty quickly and easily and Ultron needed to slow him down.

Thor is my favourite Avenger and 2nd favourite superhero and I think he was great here! Watching the Hulk/Buster fight, my inner fanboy is a little irritated we were a tad shortchanged with his fight with Hulk but that's me allowing said inner fanboy to vent - What missed the mark in this film was
his visions, his departure from the farm and the magic pool. Now I think true comic fans will get it or work it out, but even for me (and I'll make a lot of excuses for my favourite characters ;) , that really was 'out there'.
Yes, I can tell a lot was probably cut, but it's what we got and I genuinely think it could've been done better.

This is my slowness here but I also didn't get why he'd take the chance to animate Vision; wasn't that a huge risk?

Anyway, I did enjoy his interaction with Vision, thought they were great, and his relaxed attitude about lending Mjolnir to Vision was pretty cool; he still knew he was it's boss imo - And I wouldn't bet against Vision's second use of the hammer bring a tiny poke at ultra fanboys, like Whedon saying "If Thor isn't too bothered......"

Long wind aside, Thor is fantastic and I can't wait for Ragnarok!

Thor totally owned in this film

i thought they were gonna nerf him but he totally owned
he was totally Thor

I hope so, the thing that worries me is that TDW had all of the ingredients to be a really good movie and they messed it up so much by meddling in the production, I just hope they pick a director with a clear vision and let him do his thing. I would really like to see Branagh come back personally.

that my issue with TDW...
it sets itself up for greatness... but doesnt really deliver
its a good movie but it feels like a basketball game where your favorite player starts off with a record setting night but then changes his whole game in the second half and u barely win in the end

tho i think the Malekith fight is super underrated

I just saw it and I came in here to say the same thing. Even if I didn't have pro-Thor bias, I think he would be my favorite character. He was a highlight, for sure. Not only was he a powerhouse, but he was also funny and had some pretty crucial moments.

And I didn't mind how they handled...
Vision lifting Mjolnir. It served the story superbly, and was set up well. The way it showed the characters that they could trust Vision was just efficient storytelling. And the conversation between the Big 3 at the end was a total fanboy convo! I wish we'd seen more of the Thor-Vision conversation, but I'm glad we at least saw the two having a moment... I wonder what they talked about.

Just got back from seeing the film.

Did anyone catch that epic, dramatic shot as QS is readying for the final battle, Scarlet Witch looks out the window of Avengers towers and sees Thor convoing with Vision. That was tight with the capes flowing and one can see vision trying to look like thor when the creates the cape.

you know instead of Thor saying "Is that the best you got"... I would rather he say "Ultron! We Would Have Words With Thee!"

creation of the vision is totally weak. Thats really where the movie craps itself. It was dreadful.. a good ensemble film links all the character arcs in unison for a climax that is harmonious. Check out FC or DOFP to see it done correctly. this film doesnt build to the creation of Vision seamlessly. its all spontaneous and leaves u wondering did the Avengers learn anything

The characterization of the big 3 make up for it for me tho. I can watch amillion times for THORs awesomeness alone

Thought Thor stole the show here this go around.

Super surprised Thor never said the thread title. Then again, the movie's last line wasn't finished either. WHEEEDOOOOOOOOON!

Yeah, I loved that. I would love to see more of their relationship later on. It makes sense that they'd have a connection, since they both stand apart from humanity. And I like how it was presented by Whedon with a bit of subtlety.
