Uncanny Avengers

Is that available as a tpb? I never read the full story, just the X-Factor issue and maybe one other.

They've recently released an Omnibus that looks pretty awesome. It contains the entire story plus the other stuff that led into it and what was going on around it. It looks pretty awesome, despite the fact that it's so freaking expensive.

If those omnibuses were cheaper I would totally buy them.

I think we can all agree that the hologram cards on the covers of those issues were just the coolest thing ever.

I loved this costume the best. It was the perfect mix of all his costume

Yup, this was one of Havok's best costumes while also being one of Polaris' worst. :p

Wasn't there also something recently with an older writer criticizing his handling of Wolverine and him not taking it too well?

Yeah, I've very disappointed by that. Remender is my favorite writer and has been for a few years now but he really needs to check himself. None of these guys can handle criticism well. What did they do back in the day when the only interaction with fans was at conventions? Did they dive across the table and punch someone in the face? No. But also, it's different b****ing about something in someone's face and doing it from behind a keyboard when it's easier to be a d**k about it. My point is that the internet has made society a bunch of phoney tuff guys and these writer/artist/actor types just need to rise above it all because it ain't gonna change unfortunately.

He should have just defended his speech scene but say if others want to interpret it their own way that's fine too. Not go on twitter and make a *****ey post like that.

And fans need to freaking relax too. Remender is a white man, are you surprised that he's not that in touch with minorities? It's not that big a deal. He tried, stumbled a bit and that's it. Let it go. (Not us, I mean the fans in general. If you guys want to keep debating all weekend have a blast. I put my 2 cents out there.)

See, I actually had thought that Havok's speech was intentionally supposed to be assimilationist and meant to reflect how identities are constructed or rejected. I thought it was a brilliant contrast to Cyclops. But from reading what his intentions were, it's apparent that he stumbled a lot, and shouldn't be treating his critics the way he does.

Remender issued an apology on his website for his reactions to the criticisms, and also retweeted a lot of tweets by Jason Aaron basically saying "not all X-Men stories are going to be about the minority metaphor, nor should they be."

Wut? He opened this can of worms by doing a story that is clearly a metaphor for minority rights. How is Uncanny Avengers not just a big metaphor?

The first arc was about an enraged mob performing hate crimes, and in the last issue Havok said the "m" word. This is clearly a minority metaphor, and it seems like Remender can't write it properly so he's backing out of it.

He is a writer he should expect criticism of his work it goes with the job.

Fanboys overreacting and stupid comments is a staple of the internet. It is what it is.

I imagine it must be frustrating people misinterpreting your work.

He's probably not used to it. Every writer gets criticism, even the best ones. He's been on quite a high since Uncanny X-force launched, getting tons of praise and acclaim. This is the first time, people didn't like his material and he didn't react to the negative reaction. He's going to have to get used to bc its the nature of the business he is in

I believe his hobo piss comment was more of a reaction to people calling him racist amongst other things on Twitter in reaction to what he wrote and not about actual criticisms of his writing in that scene.

Yeah well, like I said in my post unfortunately the culture is not going to change anytime soon. People on the internet are gonna be d**ks because it's anonymous and easy to get away with. Remender and other famous people need to just live with it or shut down their social media. I don't like it any better than I have to but that's the only solution for now.

The thing is, in today's society, racist is about the worst thing you can call someone. It requires no evidence, but if enough people say it, a perfectly good person can get labeled as an ignorant, hateful idiot. Calling him racist isn't a criticism of his work, but instead an attack on his character.

... what are Wanda's power levels now? can't she just cause the Red Skull to have a seizure or something?

what's up with Wonder Man? I vaguely recall he was set up as a bad guy recently, so what happened with all of that?

How did Sunfire come back from the dead?

Exactly. I probably would have said something much worse.

Wanda's powers are a huge question mark to me. It seems like Remender wants to scale them back a little bit more towards what they were like pre-Disassembled. I think some things are better left alone for now in regards to that issue until a coherent resolution can be thought up for it.

As for Wonder Man, he disappeared at the end of the Revengers story right after he told the Beast that he thinks he's still technically dead. He then turned up in the last Bendis Avengers arc apologizing to Cap for his actions like he wasn't thinking clearly. He was instrumental in the fight where Jan was saved from the Microverse.

I think Wanda is holding back on purpose honestly.

You know why I loved this issue (Issue #5)? Because Rogue was drawn like *****ING Rogue. And not some stiff hooded emo girl. Reminded me of the 90s comics and X-men animated series. In this issue she has body language, attitude, and she called Havok "Sugar" Now that's the Rogue I grew up with.

nuff'said

I agree. I love Remender's Rogue. I actually started to dislike the character, but since Uncanny Avengers started I've grown to like her again.

Uh oh. Now someone is going to criticize Remender about how his Rogue is too "sassy" like 90s Rogue, and that's not how she is supposed to be now...

And the internet will then explode.

Rogue has been a mess of a character since CC wrote her in Xtreme. She is finally recognizable again for the first time in over a decade. Now I only hope for him to find some way to restore her strength/flight/invulnerability powers. Why doesn't he just go get one of those AoA or other AR character to have her perma-absorb
