To me, a 10/10 means it has no flaws. The only game I can say that about is Ocarina of Time. My only complain about it now is that it's too easy. But I suppose that comes from playing it over 5 times.

But Ocarina of Time has bugs and glitches just like any other game. Bugs aren't flaws?

What about Pong and Pacman? Or Checkers? Or Tetris? Or Columns? Or Solitaire? Or Kane and Lynch 2?

Okay, I lol'd.

Pretty much every game does. I never encountered any of OoT's glitches. Especially since some of it is strange stuff like falling through a certain grotto hole while holding a bomb just as its about to explode. I don't think any of them broke the game either. I'm more concerned with flaws with the design of mechanics. For example, in some old platform games you have to land perfectly on a spot on a platform or else it didn't count and you'd fall.

I lol'd, too.

As far as the Eurogamer review goes, the reviewer has the right to his opinion. It does come off as review of the series or formula of the series rather than the game itself. That same formula garnered countless GOTY awards in 09, so why would ND suddenly change it here?

In the end, it doesn't really affect me at all. I was getting this game regardless and have a good feeling about it. ND has a good track record in my book.

Meh, numbered scores are simply outdated anyway. With so many reviewers, and so many games, the ratings are almost meaningless. Oh, one Uncharted review got an 8 and one review for Gears 3 got a 9.5.... Does that mean one is better than the other? Hell no. People hang onto the numbers like validation for their choice of game or evidence why another game sucks. Does anyone bother reading reviews to actually see what people say about it? See what kind of impression it makes? Hell, you read a review, you can tell whether a reviewer is full of **** or not, whether it really impacted them, surpassed their expectations, whatever. That's where the info is, the nuggets of truth.

Yet still, review time comes around, and everyone collates the various review scores like nerdy badges of honour and validation for their creative preference. I mean, be honest, if you truly loved a game series like Uncharted, and EVERY magazine game it an 8, would it change your opinion in anyway? Love what you love and leave it at that.

EuroGamer doesn't really change my opinion. I mean I love the Uncharted series and I love the Uncharted 3 beta multiplayer. I review games and assign scores and I do try to put some thought into it and give it the score I think it deserves.

At the same time, I think fans have the right to scrutinize and discuss reviews if they don't like what they read. And I just think that Giant Bomb writer needs to not be mr. internet white night for EuroGamer. The EuroGamer writer should be able to let his work speak for itself or stand by or defend his positions and arguments.

I think the Eurogamer review seemed very earnest. The first time I played Uncharted 2 I kept trying to do things the game didn't intend for me to do, like attempting to climb a ledge to escape from a tank and being unable to even though the ledge looked perfectly scalable because the game wanted me to keep going forward. That made things a bit frustrating my first playthrough.

My second time I knew what and where the game wanted me to be and do and when and I had a much more enjoyable experience, so I do definitely agree with his assessment that there's a script that you're supposed to be following more or less and deviation usually results in death - and that's fine I think. The Uncharted games are a very particular sort of beast and I'd rather they stay true to their identity than be something else.

Dude, it's one thing if you want to assign a score to a game you've never played and preordain it as perfection, but don't ****ing tell other people how they should feel about the game. 8/10 is a good score. (A score that I would probably give to Uncharted 2. Are you going to try and tell me that I'm wrong or just looking for attention or something?) If the guy wanted to troll the internet, he would have given it a much lower score.

Christ. This thread pretty much proves that the only reason most people care about reviews is just to confirm their own preconceived opinions. I expect this kind of nonsense from other forums, but I thought you guys were better than that.

Agreed.

In any case, I've already pre-bought my copy of the game and I'm looking forward to it greatly.

Like I said earlier, the Eurogamer review caught my eye immediately. It was almost like looking at a kid's report card and all you see are straight A's in every semester and then one B. Of course, that one B doesn't mean the kid is a failure or that they're not as smart as they seem. They are still a straight A student, but that grade just looks bad. Like a friend of mine used to say in high school, getting a 91 on a test looks a lot better than an 89, even though they aren't all that different.

The general consensus says Uncharted 3 is definitely a must buy, and I'm pretty sure that a lot of people have pre-ordered it regardless.

I got this game early, and I had to borrow a friend's ps3 to play it, since I do not own one. I really liked Uncharted 2, I didn't think it was the greatest game in the world like many people did but I thought it was really fun to play. Uncharted 3 is the exact same as Uncharted 2. They are practically the same game. Is that a bad thing? Absolutely not. The story is good thankfully it doesn't fall completely apart in the 3rd act like Uncharted 2 did, the voice acting is great, Drake is hilarious as he always has been, the gameplay is good, and the visuals are phenomenal. What makes all of these good but not great mechanics seem like they're the best of any game is the presentation, no game does presentation better than Uncharted, it feels like you're playing a big action/adventure blockbuster movie. The story was good but it wasn't very long about the same as Uncharted 2. My biggest problem with the game is the same as it was with the second one. Holds your hand way too much, I've never played game that holds your hand like the Uncharted series does. There is absolutely no thinking, no difficulty involved whatsoever. I don't have a problem with the game taking over for you for the movie feel to it but it definitely does it more than you'd like it to and the levels are very linear though less so than Uncharted 2 there is a bit of room for exploration and experimentation but not much. All in all, this is the only ps3 series that I wish was on the 360 because they're a lot of fun and I'd like to give the multiplayer a go but I can't stand the psn and the ps3 controller. If you're a fan of Uncharted 2 than you'll definitely love this game, I'd say 9/10.

How did Uncharted 2 fall apart? Besides the whole thing with getting with Elena instead of Chloe?

Woot!

So Kal, is the hype around the game pretty accurate? Is it everything we have been told it is?

So far yeah. The beginning is a bit slow, because it has some tutorial stuff and sets the story up. That is what they did in U2 as well. It ramps up pretty quick though. I really like the puzzles so far and the melee is smile inducing. Dialogue and voice acting are awesome as always. Another nice touch is that the treasures you find during the game, are actual treasures and not shiny dots. They still shine though.

IGN has already posted a walkthrough of both pics and videos of the first chapter.

It's going to be really hard to not watch it. :(
