It really did not feel like if Batman was in this film. His character seemed to just pop up at times. Who felt that?

Um, even if he popped up at times, he is still in it.

Regardless, it was known from the beginning that this wasn't exclusively a story about Batman; it's a story about Gotham City, Bruce Wayne/Batman, The Joker, The Mob, Harvey Dent, Rachel Dawes, Commish Gordon, The rest of the police department... so considering all the stories told he actually had quite a bit of screen time.

Better than Returns, the only Batman in that film was in the title. :csad:

Batman was very important to the film and I thought he got enough screentime. And the screentime he got was quality screentime.

I'd be curious to see an official tally of who got the most screen time

Batman had more screentime then in Begins, I think.

It just shows he's professional now. He appears out of the darkness.

Pointy ears and a cape. Can't miss him.

I love the fact that the movie was about Gotham City. Reminded me of Gotham Central and the Animated Series. Like how they had episodes that focused on the police officers (P.O.V.) and things like that. Besides, even with less screen time, I think Bats was still in it more than he was in Batman '89. And you overly defensive types better not get your panties in a bunch over that, because I'm not intending to bash '89 when I say that. :whatever:

I'm pretty sure he wasn't. He was in almost every scene in BB... whereas his limelight was drastically altered in TDK to fit a lot of The Joker, Harvey Dent, and Gordon in the movie. Certainly less screen time.

"I did"

:joker:

Yeah man, MUCH less than in Batman Begins. Also, could not see the fighting and i still uphold that they forgot about Batman as a character in this film. It was really Dent's film with the rest just supporting.

He was? That's miraculous considering he didn't even become Batman until about half way thru the movie.

Do we really have to list the multitude of scenes he was in to shame this thread?

Okay I'm gonna do this for my own benefit because I'm curious. I'm not gonna go all fanatic and time the segments (unless someone wants to) but lets start with

Batman Begins: (not in order just as I remember)
Captures Falcone
Saves Rachel (brief)
Interrogates Flass (brief)
Finding the Drugs (Scarecrow sprays him)
Talks to Gordon (brief)
Fights Scarecrow Rooftop
Tumbler Escape
The Whole Climax (pretty long)

The Dark Knight:
Parking Garage/Scarecrow/Fake Batmen (brief)
Rooftop with Gordon & Dent (brief)
Hong Kong
Party Scene
Club Scene/Maroni's Interrogation (brief)
Harvey & Batman (brief)
Chase Sequence
Interrogation Sequence
Save Rachel Scene/Harvey in Hospital
Batman & Lucius Discussion
Batman/Joker Ferry Boat Climax
Batman/Two Face End Scene/End Chase Scene

So, far without having these sequences timed, which if someone wants to do it, at least the Begins sequences I'd have to say we saw Batman more in The Dark Knight.

Edit: To Joker Sorry for "shaming" the thread.

He played the caterer during the penthouse scene.

I agree about focusing on all aspects of Gotham City. It made every character seemed fleshed out and like they had a backstory.
Thing is if the film would have just focused on one character, Batman for example, then people would complain about not enough Joker, or Dent.

My favourite part of the film was everyone getting good screentime.

Gold, also the fingerprints scene.

We see Bats quite a bit in this film, whats the point of this thread? Even when he's not on screen you feel his presence throughout the whole film.

They forgot about him as a character? Let's see... we see him taking down the Scarecrow and the Batman copycats and voicing his concerns to Alfred about them. We see him helping Gordon out and telling him that he thinks taking the mob down is much more important than worrying about the Joker. We see him working with Alfred and Fox to form a plot to kidnap Lau, so that they can take him back to Gotham in order to help bring the mob down. And then we see him express his views, both publicly and privately with Rachel, that Harvey Dent is the savior that Gotham needs. Oh yeah, then we see him investigating the Joker on the bat computer, trying to figure out who he is, while telling Alfred that the mob's crossed the line by turning to this madman. Oh, and the detective work he did at the Harvey/Dent crime scene.. removing a chunk from the wall and then digitally reassembling the bullet to get a finger print from it. And then we see him being tormented over what happened to Gordon when he believes him to be dead, and his rage when he confronts Sal Maroni and breaks his legs when trying to get to the Joker. And then stopping Harvey from his interrogation of the schizophrenic man, oh and saying he's going to turn himself in so that more people don't have to die.

All of this occurs before the movie is even halfway over with. I'm not even getting into his taking down the Joker's truck, or his interrogating him, or his trying to save Rachel (and saving Harvey instead). Or his guilt and heartbreak over what happened to his two friends. I could go on and on. But yeah, they TOTALLY forgot Batman as a character. :o:whatever:
