I'm very selective in my postings, but I need to chime in here.
If you don't think Watchmen is brilliant and among the finest works ever created in the super-hero genre, or even the comic book medium as a whole, you're either insane or ignorantly stupid. Neither would surprise me given some of the responses I just read.
Watchmen is better than your favorite comic book and then some. Watchmen is deeper than any other comic you've ever read and then some. I still find new things EVERY time I read it, and I've read it somewhere around 10 times now.
It's a masterfully woven tale. Every single piece of it fits together. Every single character matters. Every single line of dialog has meaning. Every single thing, panel for panel, line for line, is a part of the larger whole.
Plain and simple: there is a reason why it continues to be considered a landmark word in the medium 21 years after its original publication. BECAUSE IT'S F**KING BRILLIANT.
I'll go out on a limb here... if you don't like Watchmen, you are not, nor ever were, or ever shall be a super-hero comics fan. You're just a drone in a sea of emptiness. End of story.
