I don't have any pics to show but any pics of him as LL will show the very loose skin in his neck.

i have been thinkging a lot. are those people really that desperate? i am asking this because they agree with lexlives. the guy who thinks that WB wants to fire singer but dont have the balls.

What's worse is all the time spent talking about a movie you loathe. When I hate a film, I don't dwell on it. I pretty much say, "Well that sucked" and move on. These are, after all, just movies we're talking about.

dark, your a good guy and I like you but to think everything is all peachy with a sub-par Superman at the box office with the WB is really a stretch. The guy states his opinion with a lot of reasoning as to why he feels the way he does, why is your opinion any better than his to put him down personally?

Then why take little shots at people that don't share your opinion about the film? Why don't you just say you liked it and or just stay out of threads that feel otherwise. With all due respect to you Freddy your doing the same thing you have a problem with. Is it a crime to like superman so much you voice your opinion when you feel his character is not being justified when you are a paying customer? Or are you ONLY allowed to feel justified no matter what?

look phil i dont have a probem with you. but i am always honest. and i can not talk serious with lexlives. maybe you agree with him that you both dont like movies. but have you really read all hes posts?

really i am serious here. some stuff is just not normal. and i am praying to god that he is joking. because you cna not be serious about SR and WB like this.

Phil, please understand that I'm not attacking those that don't like the film. I've stated a number of times before, film is an artform and as an artform there will generally be two camps: A) I like it or B) I hate it. Each have their own reasons for liking or hating one certain piece of art and both sides have a right to share those opinions.

But here we are: it's January. The film was released in June. When the same five people just keep going on and on and on and on about how much they hate the film, it gets tiring. A few debates here and there, okay. I'm used to forum life and have debated with numerous people over film. But it's the same thing over and over and over. Why spend so much time talking about how much you hate said film?

As far as I go, I was spending most of my time pointing out how much lexlives was spinning. But after you read so much spin, you just get tired of it and you just put said user on ignore (like I did).

So, basically Phil, there's nothing wrong with your not liking the film. Perfectly fine and you're certainly allowed to say what you didn't like about it. Just some personal advice: don't dwell on it. There are other forms of media with Superman. You have the original Reeve movies, the television show, the animated series, the comic books. So on and so forth.

And I can tell you this right now, no matter what lexlives says, no amount of letter writing will stop WB from making the sequel or make them decide to do a reboot. They were a bit disappointed, but they feel that they have successfully brought the franchise back and they certainly plan on a Bryan Singer sequel.

dark I can swear on my beautiful family that I am dead serious about this franchise, and can assure you that what I post is the absolute truth and in no way reaching for straws. I mean look at my nikname, there isn't one, Phil is my real name. Phil Mackey to be exact.

Exactly its not that we care that lexlives hates the movie & crew. Its the fact hat he just wont stop & whine about something else when there are plenty of other things to whine about. Its getting very old & very annoying. He needs to grow up

Well freddy, thank you for explaining yourself I can see better where you are comming from. But you can still say to the supporters that act like this movie should win an oscar, it gets tiring for me too. This movie sucked out loud in my opinion and Superman on the big screen in this day and age is important to me. Until they get it close to being right there's no way I would let it go. I like it most when these characters are brought to life. I try to simulate it in my artwork if you have ever seen it.

With all due respect you call yourself "Assman" lol and your telling someone else to grow up. Buddy so what if someone doesn't like SR.

Thanks guys, I'm a Superman fan, I went to see STM at age 7, then went to the same exact theater 28 years later to see SR. I swear to god I almost walked out after the first pathetic scene.
It's not my intension to bash anyone, really it isn't. But to me that was something a high school kid put together that isn't a fan of Superman. Anyone could have come up with a story and costume concept like that if they were handed 200+ million dollars.
It just baffles me that they would green light a story that's played over and over on daytime TV. I know I had two older sister's growing up and we only had 1 TV.
To me this is Superman, the friggin Man of Steel and he looked like he was ready to do a dance at an all male review. That is just wrong! And with a dam child, c'mon, this is friggin Superman, the Man of Friggin Steel!
And we all know what Lois looks like in the comics, but we get a girl that you have to put layers of clothing under her cloths just to make her appear thin??? Don't get me wrong Kate is an excellant actor but she was just acting on what she was given, another man's vision. She has a very mature way about her when she speaks when not playing this part. But in no way was she a Lois Lane.
And then we have a Lex Luthor that looks like he is Dr. Evil at Halloween! The same story from the 1970's????? Lex shouldn't look so old that he has a chicken neck already, what about sequels? He looks this old now what about then? But they claim they wanted a young actor for Superman to be able to do sequels?????? I like Spacey as an actor, but as Lex Luthor I was amazed in disbelief in every single scene. And I won't even get into his henchman with campy villian music with no lines.
The reason why comic movies took a hit before the likes of Spiderman and BB was because they were silly and campy. So why go back to something that was corrected and brought the audience back?
I'll never understand why the WB allowed this to happen? They have the wrong people making decisions and without a doubt have the wrong directer for The Man of Steel. I could see if this movie and it's elements were just ok, but what they gave us was the worse possible senario?? And yet they are greenlighting a sequel even though the name of new guy that just played Superman is not even known by most of the general public? When I say his name to a non fan all I get is "who's that?" For a guy playing The Man of Steel that's just wrong. that should send out a giant red flag to the people in charge. If they do go with the sequel Superman on the bigscreen is doomed for years to come.

As to Luthor's age IMO it works better when he is agewise a contemporary of Superman's. Maybe a decade older. I prefer a more physically vital lex - one who women might find as attractive as Superman. Billy Zame would sort of fit my preference for the age/look of Lex.

umm...no. superman NEEDS to be part chick flick; singer just sucked at balancing the swashbuckling adventure flick with the special effects extravaganza pic with the....chick flick.

spidey found the perfect balance in spidey 1, and burto nfound the perfect balance in batman 1989.

Please tell me how Superman NEEDS to be a chick flick. And judging from your lists of wants i sure am glad you have nothing to do with movies

i.e more action, more fighting, more style etc.....yawn.

Weren't the fans of X-Men upset Singer wasn't using the yellow/blue suits? Yeah, fans know everything.

eASY now none believer that's a touchy subject among xmen fanboys.
I still say if done right you could go more traditional comic book style look with xmen in live action... And I will say that until someone proves me wrong! :woot:

Lexlives & Phil excellent posts!
I was banned from kryptonsite for disliking the concepts and artistic direction of the new superman film.
Lexlives, man you nailed it with the demographics, Foundational elements, divided fan-base and you brought it home with this. " Older movie-goers who saw Superman Returns and compared it to their memories of S:TM. "
Again! excellent,excellent posts!

Yea I was banned from there also... The people at Kryptonsite are a bunch of hypocrites! I was having an aim convo with one of those F___'s and showed him a conversation I had with Dan Harris, and next thing I know the thing was all over the net!
I never asked for the to post it... We were just talking.
Then after the Sheit hit the fan they banned me from the site.
heh then I got banned here, and stuff also... Sorta shocked this account is still kickin heh guess the powers that b at the hype have come to terms with the fact that I was right all along... heh :woot: Gotta Love the hype!

heh even back then a few of the mods here, and in other places sent me PM's saying that they thought I was right but they just didn't want people fighting on the board.
Even though I never attacked a soul here or anywhere even when I was getting bashed for my private conversation by just about everyone.

By the way Lexlives man you have nailed it right on the head when it comes to SR I also enjoy your posts man keep up the good work.

You are that Phil - glad you are still around. Whatever happened to Routhman?

Its true, I was bannnd despite not violating any of the stated rules. But it makes no never-mind. That site has no integrity IMO - the folks who run it. Not the posters who, ironically, are coming round so to speak.

My loyalty is to Superman, the franchise, the mythos. I won't back down and thanks for SHH for allowing free exchange of ideas - though I notice BT is more "open" now too. Dare I surrmise "Justin" has seen the light - or maybe just given up?! He was on the "wrong side of history" so to speak.
Hey Lex. Good to see that there are other people who aren't SR/Singer drones here. I stopped going to BT shortly after seeing the suit for two reasons:

1. I didn't want to mess up whatever deal they had with Warner's.

2. I got tired of the place being like the Singer Children of the Damned. You said something about the movie, and like the Singer/SR lovers here, your mom was called a ****e, or assanine remarks about you just for having a different opinion. I too was banned from there for a bit for posting a negative post against SR.

Well I am certainly not an "X-Men Fanboy", I just remember the situation, and I think the suits translated just fine onto screen. In regards to the traditional suits, I agree that they might be able translate. I guess we'll never know.

You are so right!
The problem is this film is a SUPERMAN film.
I do believe everyone here LOVE SUPERMAN,not singer, routh, Welling, C.Reeve & G. Reeves but Kal'EL.
Some of us waited a very long time to see BIG BLUE again.
Sadly for half of us, the wait continues!

I think the WB paid alot of sites off, to keep the word of mouth positive.
Now that SR is over with, freedom of speech once again is granted too all. :woot:

heh yea I heard that they paid a lot of money to have anything negative removed from imdb asap.
I wouldn't doubt if they did that for any other sites lol which if they did it for Superman Returns wouldn't this be an extra expense for the movie that's not turned a profit yet? lol kinda diggin a deeper hole for them self's eh? :woot:

OK, that's a little off topic:
It's actually very interesting to read from you guys. I didn't sign up here untill the movie was out and finally lots of people here and elsewhere realised how screwed up the final result was. Even though I and obviously many other people could tell that as soon as Singer's weird plans for a vague sequel and the terrible pictures of Routh and the suit were released. It was just so annoying to read this board or SupermanHP during the production. All the Singerlove was just not healthy anymore. Literally anyone who had a different opinion got flamed or banned for it. Just read the first half of the "SR Review" thread to see what I mean.

I registered right about 1 week after the movie came out and made my review on the peek of joy -> turning right into disillusion and from there on this board died out more and more for week after week. They either were to ashamed with the film or just went into "Singerheaven" (BT.net) to drool all over themselves without answering the obvious and numerous plothole questions anyone with some knowledge of films has after watching SR. Turned out that even Singer couldn't answer many of them. Did he even answer one without stuttering and going into cardiac arrest for a second? :o

But somehow the thing made $200 mill - OK, more like $190, then it was forced to slowly suffocate to death for 2 months to make the last $10 mill necassary to save WB's face for their disastrous summer BO - and now we most likely have to deal with a direct sequel that will kill the franchise, again.

I feel ****ty, as a Supermanfan and as a filmfan, and I just keep hoping that someone can fix the flaws before it's too late. I mean, even the 'gay' jokes are still out there whenever I ask someone about Superman. That's just not right and no ground for a successful Superman franchise. :csad:

I know what you mean it's like Batman when Joel Schumacher was directing it! The gay jokes never ended, and when they put nipples on the bat suit they went nuts with the gay jokes... Seriously there isn't a homoerotic moment in the movie it's played pretty straight... Well if you overlook jimmy Olson love of Mr Kent... That rather bugged me... heh
But I didn't see anything "Gay" really about the movie.
The jokes sadly do continue... That's not right tho.
Don't bash the movie because it has a gay aura or whatever lol bash it because the final product was just weak.

But yea every time I talk to someone, and Superman Returns comes up the word "gay" is used soon after. :csad:

i was more irritated by the sadism agenda singer selling in SR.
in all action heroes' trailers, they would should how awesome the hero is. but in SR' trailer, kicking superman's ass is the selling point.

seriously, that's the scene you'll remember after watching that wicked movie.
