wb talking to ryan gosling to play jl batman

acting rather than physique is most important to me I'd rather see a good actor in a muscle suit than a poor actor with a buff body but that's just me. if as expected batman is going to be in a suit the whole time then as long as actor gets into resonable shape the muscle suit/armour is fine as long as it looks convicing. look at ron pearlman in hellboy, totally believable muscles.

acting is the be all and end all for me I've seen too many actors/actresses that look good but can't act to save their lives

I rather both....but that's just me.

These comments kill me.

As an avid weightlifter, and a certified personal trainer (from back in my University days), I find it infuriating that people think it is possible to build a "batman-like" physique in just a couple months.

That's crazy.

A physique worthy of Batman, would require years of training as well as the right genetics.

I'd tend to agree, but technically, I don't think Batman's physique would be a weightlifter's one anyway. The actors are mostly going for visible muscles, not neccessarily the kind of physique Batman would actually have.

I agree that acting is important, but I hate this new hollywood attitude that anyone can be an action/super hero.

No matter how well an actor can act, I personally need to have some belief in their physical ability to accept them in the role.

More than any other character, Batman is about physical perfection.

A lanky beanpole in a musclesuit feels so wrong.

I didn't mean Batman should have specifically a weight lifter's physique. But he should still look powerful. Ideally a muscular gymnast physique would make the most sense.

I do realize that these are just actors. So the actor has to just look powerful and believable in the role. He, of course, doesn't need to actually be that extreme of an athelete.

I'd agree as well. I still think that nowadays, even that specific looks is attainable by most young Hollywood actors, if they try hard enough. Bale pulled it off, and even Routh. So if Gosling were to be cast, I'd expect no different.

Here's a pretty good pic of that doesn't make him look so young:

Personally I think he can pull it off. He has the acting chops, and judging from his movies, he has the potential to exude that "intensity" required to pull off Bruce Wayne.

Stunning pic .

(he even looks like Bale there)

Are there others pics from that photo shoot?

What bother me on the other hand is that they try and give him too much of a Bale look.

i don't think it's a good idea ..i even think that if they don't go with Routh and Bale i don't think that casting young actors is a good idea at all:

With a Talia running around , it's becoming confusing for audience and at the same time, jla become even more of a menace for the Batman franchise among other.

cast older actors , it will help differentiate the franchise from the others.

not that i am for or against it (still undecided at this point) but,...
here's a shot of him from his newest movie

check out the arm, there's some decent tone to build on
(ok, with, the plad, its kida hard to tell whats, what)
just saying

It's kind of a b*** to manip Gosling due to his love of facial hair.

Awesome!.... but thats what i said when i heard clooney was playing batman....:wow:

I'm not saying Gosling can't eventually develop a passable (for film) physique. He would have to be truly commited and willing to train intensely for far more than a couple months.

I truly hate these muscle suits used nowadays by out of shape actors. Some people here may find them sufficent, but to me, they are pure crap.

Other heroes can rely on the yellow sun, magic rings, irradiated spider DNA or whatever. But, Batman's superpowers derive only from his mind and muscles. Take one away, and he's not Batman to me.

Seriously, if one wants "Batman physique" then one has to cast Vin Diesel or The Rock. I'm talking about that Gosling can get enough muscles on him (almost like Bale did) to play Batman. Bale gained 100 pounds in six months, as I'm sure your aware of. Training expert and all that.

I hope this don't kill ya. ;)

Eh, I think casting him would've been inspired. If Keaton could've been made into a convincing dark hero, after holding a career status as a comedian, it wouldn't be difficult to do the same for Gosling, who has done his fair share of serious films already.

I don't really know any suitable actor for the role, that's in the age range they seem to be going for.

Bah, give Batman a new accent. Hire Josh Holloway. :woot:

Oh please,

Bale gained back muscle he previously had. That is exponentially easier than putting on net new muscle.

Comparisons of Bale's post "Machinist" weight gain to any naturally lanky guy's potential muscle gains are completely ridiculous.

Actually, someone with a Vin Diesel physique would be great, but I know that's not gonna happen.

So I'd be quite happy with a build like Bale\McConaughey\Pitt\Jackman\Craig\ etc. ......

You don't have to look far to find a decent physique in Hollywood. There's no reason to not make that a requisite.

Again, look at the previous postet examples (and don't even get me startet on Michael Keaton, a great Batman). A Batman with Vin Diesel body would be terrible. Batman is an agile guy, too much muscles slows down the body and ruins the agility. As you would know, as a personal trainer.

Gosling is the right heigh (6'1, Batman is 6'2) and with a bit more muscles his physiqe will be good enough. He is even taller then Bale. In The Notebook Gosling gained over 20 pounds (wich he had to loose again to play the younger character in the same film).

This is a recent shot of him (from this month):

He has gained notably weight and with som months of training (like Bale did before BB) he will gett enough muscle to play a more then decent Batman. :)

Compared to how Bale looks in The Dark Knight:

(But by the looks of it, it's not likely he'll get the part)

The perfect Wayne physique (although he should be a tad taller):
