It's a family movie and that's the kind of movie people want to see in the summer. 20 year wait for Supes fans, one of the most anticipated movies of all time and you're saying it will gross only 235. Come on.

I've been following boxoffice stats and forcasting for several years now and believe me when I say this. Superman has everything going for him. I've listed all my reasons. This movie will be huge. Period. POTC2 is being over-estimated. A lot of people are under the impression that 'oh sequels always make more than the original'. I'm sorry that's not always the case. Once the marketing gets into high gear in June, people will believe a man can fly, even marvel fans like myself. I've already seen the light thanks to my fellow supes fans on this board. Tell me guys, who is not going to see this movie on opening weekend?? There's not another movie opening that weekend that will even touch Superman. Superman will own the 4th of July weekend and let me tell you. If this movie opens in more than 4000 theatres...man oh man. All I can say us it's a bird, no it's a plane, no it's SUPERMAN!!!!!

Good point dude. But you forgot to mention that Superman is much more popular than Spider-Man and hence Superman should gross 450-500 mil. Up, up and away!!

Good point. VGPOP. I forgot it's opneing on IMAX. That should give it say 5-15 million boost.

i thknk Davinci looks good i cant wait to see it but i see it this way....

1. Superman Returns - 400+ million in tickets not including toys and etc etc
2. Da Vinci Code - 250 Million reason being this hits alot of religous backgrounds people will be curious not at first but later when its been out for month
3. POTC2 - 220 million it will over hyped and people will get bored... and it will not pass the or succeed its previous story

hey i thought 235 was too low all right. and besides i think i've made some pretty good points. there's only one movie that could pose a threat to returns and that's POTC2. and i believe that superman returns won't have a problem there.
