What is the next weakest film outside of these 3?

It's still Ant-Man. Marvel Studios highlighted the wrong version of the character making this film the only time that one of their movies was kept afloat by the supporting cast and the established Marvel framework. I'm hoping that the sequel has a little more balance.

Those three films -- Iron Man 2, Thor: The Dark World, and The Incredible Hulk -- are definitely the weakest of the MCU films, but all three are still enjoyable and have their share of good moments. If I had to pick one as the one I consider the weakest, I would probably pick TIH simply because it had the fewest number of memorably cool scenes for me.

TDW definitely has a lot of problems, but the scenes where Thor and Loki interact with each other are very good. IM2 has a rather thin and disjointed story, but it still has a good share of memorably cool scenes such as Tony making his big entrance at the Stark Expo. TIH has cool scenes too, but not as many as I usually get from Marvel films. So for me, TIH would probably be the weakest, even though it's certainly not a bad film by any means.

That's a shame because Ragnarok is delightful and very, very different from its predecessors.

I voted Iron Man 2. As entertaining as Downey Jr can be, watching him goofing around for two hours is not what I consider a good time.

Interesting, I felt very much the same. I think that TDW would have been just as good (if not better) without Kat Dennings and if all of Malekith's lines were in English (sorry, it's not LOTR).

Otherwise it was a very enjoyable film, and Hiddleston and Hemsworth were great together.

I agree that Iron Man 2 was dreadful - perhaps the most disappointing MCU film, after the amazing first chapter that was Iron Man.....Iron Man 2 was like a slap in the face. I remember sitting through it and waiting for it to get good, and it never did.

Incredible Hulk, well it wasn't great but Norton was a good Banner . I felt the final fight just a bit too underwhelming - but that's Louis Leterrier for you. I would still rather watch it than IM 2.

Completely agree, except on Iron Man 2.
I really liked it as the equivalent of a good comic book filler issue, but I see the episodic nature of the MCU as a plus and not as a limit, fillers come with the territory and I do not mind.

I can't say what the weakest is because I haven't watched around half of them (The Avengers is my least favorite of the ones I've seen), but for the record, Iron Man 2 is one of my favorites.

^ I 2nd this. The 1st Thor is the 4th weakest MCU movie.
But I still love it, not like the 3rd one though. :oldrazz:

Thor the dark world at least I can watch Iron Man 3 up until the Trevor reveal I just imagine the movie ends at that juncture

Definitely Homecoming. The movies on the list were nowhere near as excruciatingly boring to sit through.

What is the next weakest film outside of these 3?
Doing those ranking the MCU threads after Raganrok and averaging out the responses, #13 was Ant-Man and #14 was IM3 followed by the 3 listed in this poll.

Here is my list in full. The ones in bold are interchangeable but once I see them and sit with them more I can properly process and rank where they'd wind up:

1-3: The Avengers, Homecoming, Ragnorak
4. Winter Soldier
5. Civil War
6. Guardians Volume 2
7. Captain America: TFA
8. Dr. Strange
9. Iron Man
10. Guardians of the Galaxy
11. Ant-man
12. Avengers Age of Ultron
13. Iron Man 3
14. Thor
15. Thor: TDW
16. Iron Man 2
17. TIH

Ant-Man

Thor

CA: First Avenger

Bottom of the barrel. Still good movies, but damn.

For the time being this choice is between Spider-Idiot Homecoming and Thor The Dark World, but I'll need to come in with a more well defined opinion when I celebrate the tenth anniversary for Iron Man once I'm done with my marathon so I'm subscribing to this thread for now.

Thor: Ragnarok, largely because it's the freshest in my mind. Completely pointless & unnecessary tonal shift from the first 2 Thor movies turning the movie (& Thor character) into a slapstick comedy.. a movie called Thor: Ragnarok & it's probably the most over the top comedy in the MCU..

Also in the running would be Iron Man 3, Guardians of The Galaxy 2 & Ant-Man all of which weren't good IMO.

I get that there are people who disliked some or all the choices made in Homecoming and/or Ragnarok, but they are by no measure weak movies: your mileage may vary but they were solid by any measurable metric and the general audience seemed to really enjoy them.
I'd say a weak movie has to be somewhat lacking on its own merit structurally or thematically, not in relation to its characterization liberties (if there really are any).
Does this make sense?

Ah right, makes sense.

Good point.

That's why I picked Ant-Man, because while enjoyed Thor: The Dark World less, Thor 2 at least had some kind of impact, and it had moments that were worth something, thematically, emotionally and spectacle-wise, they just didn't strike my fancy. Ant-Man, on the other hand, is a largely empty movie. The hero's most memorable line is "Let's call the Avengers." The best character is the sidekick, and the love interest doesn't even merit an relationship arc, and the villain has less personality than Kurse, which is saying something.

EDIT:
And honestly, there's very little reason for Iron Man 2 to be on this list:

Heh, its the MCU after all....

What is the next weakest film outside of these 3?

Well, I think Age of Ultron is worse than those three. But not counting it, I would say that the first Thor would be the next weakest after the three in the poll.
