Well....Shawn Levy is Directing the Flash

Well this project went from bad to worse. Dang Levy killed the pink panther seires for me and now he has to kill the flash.

I'm not saying this is a good thing, but I'd take this guy over Goyer anyday.

I wasn't exactly thrilled about him either. I'm tired of seeing his name attached to 2 out of every 3 comic books movies getting announced out there.

but I wouldn't be complaining if it hadn't gone from bad (Goyer) to worst (Levy).

Now thinking about it, I've seen only one of Levy's movies, Cheaper by the Dozen. While it's not my kind of movie, I found it to be pretty good, at least better than Blade: Trinity which I was thoroughly disappointed with.

Don´t take it personaly, but this is why i love fanboys :D

Louis Letierer made The Transporter and Unleashed, and all of a sudden he is amazing.
Favreau is, all of a sudden a genius, when the man as not made one piece of crap so far that say that he is anywhere good to handle Iron Man.
Elf and Zathura weren´t it, not even by a fu**ing mile, in fact, they were light comedies like what Shawn Levy makes (i´m not comparing both, so don´t give me that crap).

I wish both the best, hell i wish the three the best, but to call Favreau a genius....

I stand corrected. LL is gritty though, in terms of the way he films things but for some reason I thought Favreau directed Swingers and one or two other projects.

I thought Elf was very well done though, far better then the cheeper series.

I'm a bit humbled here ... don't like to be considered a fan boy.

I am gonna wait and see,my initial reaction is Flash is ****ed but i'm not gonna rant about it,let's see what he actually produces first

You can't really use X3 as an example. It outgrossed its predecessors.
Yeah but the movie blew because they picked a similar type of director.

I'd say Levy has a terrible track record with adapting pre-existing properties. Pink Panther anyone? It was a terrible disgrace.

Its a movie about a dude who runs fast, why is this so hard of a concept. He gets his powers, and uses them to protect central or Keystone city. Serously why is a Flash movie so hard to do?????

Ok, i officially gave up!
What´s the point?
To give the movie to a man that makes light comedies?
Just because NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM made $220million so far?
This is what the world needed, another Tim Story

You shouldn't look and Shawn Levy as a man who does comedies. I would look at him as a young, fresh, director with depth. How soon we forget that Levy's name is also tagged to TV skein's such as "The Famous Jett Jackson" (one of Disney's Best Original Series), "The Secret World of Alex Mack", "Birds of Prey", and "Lassie". Not only does the man do dramas, he started out doing them -- and not only that, but he's got a lot of experience making media for young adults. Once again, I think we need to wait and what develops, but this project is far from being screwed.

There's hope, dnno1, but from my vantage point, it is SCARCE. I loved Jett Jackson... it was awesome, for Disney, and, imho, they hadn't done anything quite as polished until High School Musical. Night at the Museum, while not my taste was paletable, even with Ben Stiller involved.

But to take that skillset and try to pull a Flash film out of it... it's not encouraging.

I think the hardest part to get is the whole legacy aspect. Goyer said that him and WB wanted to go in different directions, and I'm wondering if that's the source of it. Goyer said he wanted both Barry Allen and Wally in one movie, and perhaps WB just wanted one Flash (my guess would be they want Wally).

Regardless of which Flash they use, I only hope that they dont do some lame melding of alternate versions. The last thing I want is one Flash's name, another's looks, another's personality, and another's job.

They did the same thing with Bart Allen on Smallville.

Maybe we need to find out what everybody's thoughts are about a Flash film. What is your idea of "dark"? As far as I am concerned they tried "dark" with the TV series and it never made it through the first season. Goyers script was going to include both Barry and Wally from what I understand. If Wally was to be a kid in that screenplay, then it would make some sence to go with I guy like Levy (because of his previous work). By the way, "High School Musical" is a modern day classic as far as popularity. Much so as "West Side Story" was in it's day (relatively speaking).

Yipee! Batman & Robin v2!

But this time with INTENTIONAL comedy!

All shows I loved as a kid. Dangit. Well he has made some really good shows. But his movies suck ass. If the flash was being made as a show again maybe it would rock like his others. But as a movie nope.

The guy that made Famous Jett Jackson is doing Flash?

I do not hate him now.

Sooner or later WB is going to force the entire DC fandom into the Batman forums.

They should rename the Batman forums "The DC Movie Universe". :D This stupid joke better not come to fruition.

I think this is a product of POTC's success and SR's problems. Every studio executive now wants superhero movies to be "fun" and avoid "mopey" at all costs. (Batman's an exception because he's known as a "dark" character)

My personal jury is still out. Wally West, who is prolly who the studio wants, is pretty fun-loving, so a light tone may be appropriate.

A movie about the Flash should be inherently fun and not mopey.

That doesn't mean it should suck too, though. :o

This is crap.
They should've kept Goyer.
Hell, he didn't even have to direct, but his script sounded oh so promising. Especially with Barry and Wally being in the same picture and the dark tone.

I don't like any of Levy's movies. :down
Night At The Museum is one of the worst movies that I've seen in 2006.

Ok I didn't expect them to get a legendary director for the Flash but did they have to get a director with some of the most mind numbingly lame movies to his credit?

I'll try not to be so negative, but Flash is my #2 behind Bats.
Well, I'll give Levy a chance, just like I've given Ratner a chance.

Granted, The Flash's life can get pretty dangerous at times, but Wally West has always been a fun loving type of guy to be honest. He just is. He's not shy about his superherodom, he embraces it, even when he knows that Central City depends on his ass in constant times of crisis. Levy has directed a couple eps of Birds of Prey and First Wave, so he's not all comedy. And Ryan Reynolds and Yunjin Kim are Wally and Linda respectively, if any suits are listening.
