He's a bit of a one-trick pony as a villain... although maybe Nolan could do something interesting with him.

His segment on GK was probably the best one FWIW.

well I read some of the spoilers... but I doubt he is really gone for good. I read one where it almost hints as much to the audience. I saw the pics back when, but those were just concept pics.

I still think, regardless of what it looks like at the end of the movie, he will be back. I mean how else can you reverse the supposed ending of the movie if it is not by having a huge return of him which coincidentally clears the whole situation up (sorry to be vague, but trying not to spoil)... as much as I like them, I don't think Riddler or Catwoman would fit that role and I know anyone smaller is even less likely to.

Besides, I thought they signed Eckhart to a 2 movie contract for Batman... why the second if he is not going to be in it?

First off just because an actor is signed on for multiple movies. Its just the companies is insuarance for using the actor. Its there way of saying well we own you for 10 years, regardless if you use you or not for this movie.

He falls off a building, Bats and Gordon have a lil chat by his body, and theres even a funeral for him. He aint coming back from that, not in Nolan's series anyway

That makes no sense though, why sign him to movies you have no intention of making? It would be a huge waste of money. I know if he just signed with WB in general then they could use him for a different WB movie but I was under the impression it was specifically for Batman films both times. Without using him in the next film, it would be a complete waste of money unless it is a set price for each film in which case it is really two contracts with the second one not maturing because a condition precedent never arose. If that is the case though, that also doesn't make sense because it could concievably open WB up to litigation depending on how the contract is written or construed

I like how I gave you a specific example underneath that, yet you dont bother you dont bother to talk about it.

The multiple movie contracts are a safety net just in case they want or need to use an actor. Alfred Molina was signed on for two Spider-Man movies as Doc Ock. The actors who played Toad and Sabretooth in X-Men were signed on for two additional movies IIRC.

Also, don't forget if they need to do a flash back sequence or a dream sequence like Willem Dafoe in Spider Man II, or Alec Guinness in Star Wars 5 and 6 that could be a reason they're signed on.
