The Kents felt/feared that the US Goverment would take him away from them...

Doesn't sound like Pa Kent to me.

Even as he's dying, he tells Clark not to use his powers. I mean WTF. That's what Superman's dying memory of his father is? What is Pa Kent trying to teach his son there? "Keep hiding son?" "The world must never know you're special?"

It doesn't sound like Clark learned much from his father.

Zod mentions not wanting to sit around and suffer for years as Kal-El did to adapt to the Earth Sun.

Terraforming was changing earth's atmosphere, much as Zod's ship did earlier. It was about making it easier for Kryptonians to adapt to their new surroundings.

But Zod seemed to adapt fairly quickly. Who wouldn't want to be able to fly? What crazy general who is devoted to keeping his people alive, wouldn't want them to have the ability to fly and be invulnerable?

And why did Kal tell Zod how to adjust and focus his senses? He kinda pulled a monologue from the Incredible but in reverse...

maybe. they have already done the survey. remember the ancient ships they sent away.

I got the impression those were all over the map on many different worlds before they came to Earth.

you are not wrong. and the earth has one which would mean that the earth might be suitable for them to terraform. (habitable to them)

What he was telling him was that he believed Clark had a purpose that was even more important than risking everything just to save him.

True, but it hardly means it was the only one. And Earth has a large hostile population as well as another Kryptonian defending it. It just seemed it would be so much easier for Zod to accomplish everything he wanted if he just got the codex from Supes and then went elsewhere.

sorry, this is just not the version of your pa kent.
neverthless, pa kent is just like any other great father who will sacrifice himself for his son.
he didn't want the world to know his son is an alien. he didn't want his son to die (most likely if they do, he will get caught and killed for experiment in the real world)
how hard is it for you to understand?

u are no wrong again. but zod is already here. why bother to travel a few years to another suitable planet? and Clark is just a kid to Zod. should a General listen to a kid's advice?

i loved movie but 1 scene i would of liked to be longer was the oil rig scene thats the only scene that went by too quick for me

maybe a couple of lines to other people on the boat by clark and actually showing him get on the rig instead it just cuts from clark on the boat to him already shirtless surrounded by fire

Goyer and Nolan went with the saving the entire city/world from a 'this thing'... AGAIN. C'mon, that is getting lame.

Maybe I missed it, but it would have been nice to see Superman's farm parents actually see his pot land from space and his farm parents' reactions.

It's less about that and more about taking unnecessary risks with something that is supposedly sooooo important to him. It just makes him look foolish.

maybe. maybe not. making him look more arrogant and confident in himself perhaps?

At the point where Kal is about to destroy the scout ship and Zod begs him not to since it will mean the end of Krypton's future, Zod should have said 'Hey, you got me. Please don't destroy that and we'll go terra-form some other planet.'

lol. that would be so anti-climate! people would be really pissed off. :D

Kal should have used it's possible destruction as a bargaining chip.

Zods actions are like that water melting machine in Batman begins, it sounds cool, makes a great plot device, but when you think about it, It doesn't make any sense.

? because???

But the machine from BB was just pseudo-science. I give these movies all the leeway in the world when it comes to that. They just couldn't exist otherwise. But Zod's plan isn't like that even though it uses pseudo-science to make it happen. At a very basic level his plan makes no sense. I suspect that's Nolan's contribution to the film. It's not the first time he's done stuff like that(Joker in TDK, Bane's plan in TDKR).

? because???

Cause like other people have said, the entire plot is driven by Zods odd motivation to terraform earth, despite the fact any planet could of worked. He came to earth for the codex, then he wants to terraform it.....cause....why?

He's so into making Krypton anew. It's his absolute most important thing in his whole life. Yet with something so important he takes unnecessary risks when obvious alternatives exist with far less risk.

"every action i take no matter how violent it is is for the greater good of my people"

that sums it all right there

why travel so long to get to earth and get the codex from kal el and then go search for another planet when he is on one
