What can DC/WB do now to move forward? Is there hope? - Part 1

It’s hard to care much about the Nightwing or Flash movie when we will have the Titans and Flash on tv

Enough of the reboot completely and DCEU is dead parties. There just needs to be some competence and guidance.

And enough of the dumb fanboys that use DC & Marvel as their football teams. It's ruining films and filmmakers. :oldrazz:

Anyway it's dumb and bad business to straight up reboot. This is not Fox level bad or Sony AS2 bad.

Whether it be individual characters or the DCEU as a whole, its gonna be rebooted in one form, or another . At this point ,fanboys would be kidding themselves to think it won't happen.

Its not bad business to straight up reboot certain characters. Its bad business to stick to the same version or versions of a character for the sake of fanboys who liked it, and not take into account the GA who was either indifferent or turned off by it.

As long as the GA makes up the vast majority of the box office , WB will cater to them more than fanboys who want everything to remain consistent. That's the reality , whether that's fair or not.

Whether that means a soft a reboot for Batman and/or Superman ,a straight up reboot for them , cancelling certain ideas, retooling others, or moving forward with solo films without emphasizing that they're all connected, or branching off into elseworlds films it's going to happen.

They're not throwing out the DCEU. WW and Aquaman are safe. The only question is to what extent they will reboot or retool things.

I have faith in McKay to deliver a great film. Plus Grayson's going to be Robin in the show, and within a team context. There's enough for the two to be as far removed from the other. I also want to see a Chuck Dixon Nightwing inspired film anyway. As for Flash, not interested in a movie led by Ezra.

I 100% agree, it would just be bad business at this moment to completely discard every actor like some fanboys want to happen. If you do a massive overhaul, it will suffer to an extent. X-Men style rebooting or forgetting a film is fine.

I keep saying this, and I will say it louder for the people in the back: these characters are like James Bond. At this moment this is what DC has leverage over Marvel with *other than Spider-Man*, you can easily have someone come in to play the roles. Marvel is a bit trickier, because the emphasis on characters *not an issue at all*, so many will riot when a new Tony Stank comes onto the scene. Just like people will flip when Gal is no longer Diana.

And that goes into the bigger point I was trying to make: fanboys are a decent percent of the GA, but there still just a percent.
DC making films that cater to a certain audience is fine, which is why I think elseworld stuff is a thing, but genres shifts are fine, as long as the script is good. The GA doesn't care about overarching themes, or how faithful it is to the source, it's just is it good. And when you have executives trying to constantly keep up, your risking actually good films, thus bad business.

What DC and WB can do to move forward is make a standalone Catwoman movie.

I know you guys don't want a Harley movie but Margot seems to understand how to produce movies according to her recent interview. She must know something considering she got these movies green lit by herself.

WB green lit Snyder's brilliant ideas also.

His politics notwithstanding I am a big fan of Moviebob.

Some of his ideas in that video are pretty great, some not so much.

But he is absolutely spot on about Green Lantern and what the potential is for that franchise. Also how it can be the key to expanding the larger DC franchise as a whole. The ideas are limitless.

Although I say Sinestro should already be a villain in the first movie.

Green Lantern has so much potential if the property is in the right hands. The only problem with space operas is that they can come off incredibly cheesy if you don't have the right talent involved. For every Star Wars, there are about 15 Valerians.

You don't have to do a space opera though. Like Moviebob said you do 'cops in space'.

Reserve the space opera stuff for New Gods.

I don’t know how you do Green Lantern without making his powers look cheesy.

Just don't have the GLs make goofy objects, at least not in the moments when they want us to take them seriously.

Or go with the police analogy, make them heavy on regulations.
The human Lanterns could be the rogue cops introducing creativity to the ring use.
Kyle Rayner anyone?

Anyone has a link to the "4 Harley Quinn movies in development" rumor?

Why? It's just a bunch of BS anyway. All Margot Robbie said was:

"I've been working on a separate spin-off for Harley for a while now," she said, adding that her take would give the wacky DC villainess
the "girl gang" she was so desperately missing in Suicide Squad. "I want to see her with other women," Robbie said. "I kept saying it while
we were filming Suicide Squad. I was like, 'She needs her girlfriends.'"

Working on a separate spinoff (from Suicide Squad) for a while now. Gotham City Sirens.
Girl gang Harley didn't have in Suicide Squad. Gotham City Sirens
Harley with other women. Gotham City Sirens.
She needs her girlfriends. Gotham City Sirens.
Tell me how anything Robbie said isn't referring to Gotham City Sirens and where this means 4 Harley Quinn movies.

I think regulating them could help, with certain individuals bending those rules.

So what do they make? Just guns?

Barricades, energy bolts, spikes, force fields, lightning, cutting edges, explosions etc. etc.

There is no reason for any GL to make a big green fist, or anything else dumb to look at.

Lets be honest, it always looks a bit goofy when you think about it.
Bright Green Constructs coming out of a Ring will always feel a bit weird no matter what.

But honestly i think the CGI on them was one of the best things about the Green Lantern movie.
But im not a good judge because i dont have a problem in general with CGI, thats why im not bothered by steppenwolf or cavills face.:woot:
