The Dark Knight Rises What do you not like about the movie?

I think it'll be pretty lame if there's yet another film with no scene at Arkham, and if Tate ends up NOT being Talia.
From what I HAVE seen; I still don't like anything about this Catwoman, and I was hoping Rises would be another stylistic leap like it was from the first film to the second. Visually this one looks like it's more or less in the same ballpark.

How can there be a fight scene between Batman and Bane when Batman's suit is covered with jagged blades on the forearms? I mean think about how hard it would be to fight against someone, even someone a lot smaller and weaker than yourself, if the other person had those Shredder-style gauntlets. In the other movies they got around this issue by having the fights happen effectively off-camera, with only a few brief, unrevealing glimpses of the action, but in this movie the physical confrontation between Batman and Bane is such an important part of the movie, I don't see how they can get around showing it at least somewhat clearly.

With all due respect, I don't think that's a valid complaint. We have no idea where that particular scene of Bruce waking up to Bane standing over him will go.

Couldn't Batman easily shoot those forearm blades into Bane's face? After that he can just pummel him while he's down & call it a day.

That's only an example of their bully/victim relationship, and of course it could be very different from the trailers, but it seems pretty clear what is going on, and if that snippet, taken out of context, misrepresents their relationship then why would it be there? And just Batman asking Bane his motives when he poses no threat to Bane, is a little too close to pleading, or asking for a favor. You know what I mean? It is perfectly acceptable for Batman to lose a fight and be captured, but you'd think he'd be more defiant and contemptuous, like Indiana Jones or James Bond, for example, who get beat up and captured all the time, but don't change their attitudes towards their enemies because of it.

It just feels like shoe-horning to me, and I don't think the character will be done justice, and I think that IF

It might all work in the film though. I guess I don't like the assumptions that its making me have right now.

I have problems with those too.

-"The Bat" does look mediocre. If only it were sleeker, thinner and shaped more like a jet yet still retained the Tumbler design. Also the name, while clever, just doesn't do it for me.

Agree. I can even forgive the lobster shape, but the worst piece - anti-aerodynamic cockpit. Plain bad and uninspired. Freaking glass box. Especially for a jet, that can dodge rockets.

-I particularly don't like the ears, which look weirdly shaped, the goggles, which are too bulky, and the heels, which are out of place and look awkward. Also, her hair let out is weird (looks good on Selina but not Catwoman).

My biggest issue:

Why does she wear those thigh high boots and shoulder length gloves? They don't help anything. Also these elements don't live well with high-tech elements like the goggles and the gadget belt. They're super-retro, forced classiness and add cheap and uninspired dominatrix vibe. I'd prefer a solid-piece suit, like in the comics and Arkham City.

Yeah, like TDK, some parts might be cheesy. Could rework it though, by removing the "oh, boy" and changing the delivery.

We don't know the context. But for now, it sounds stupid.

I guess, Proto, it'll be more of a surprise to the general public whom are not so heavily following such boards as these (and aren't die hard Batman fans as we) when Tate's true identity is out. If [BLACKOUT](when)[/BLACKOUT] Tate is revealed to be Talia, it'll be more interesting to see how others around her (particularly Bruce-- obviously) will react to this revelation (and it will be more of a surprise to us if he already knows ). Also, we're still not sure yet if she's in complete alligence with Bane, or if she is forced to follow his ways, if she's just as grey as Selina Kyle, or is out for revenge, or is just honoring her father's last wish. That too will be a good surprise.

For me I really like that I can't really tell what the plot of the story is by the trailers, and I really haven't tried to look into any plot details about certain characters. I did that with TDK which really spoiled it for me, but nonetheless my excitement never changed.

He took away the Venom and he took away Bane's built and jacked physique, instead he downgraded it to a guy who looks like he occasionally goes to the gym once or twice a week.


3. Casting of Anne. She tries too hard IMO. She is ugly as well (IMO) but that's not my main issue. An ugly woman had been cast to play the role of a seductive, sexy, and beautiful burglar. None of those traits she has. I would've been ok with it if she had been cast as Rachel Dawes.


And that's about it.

I don't know many people who get built like Hardy going to the gym once or twice a week, I get that its hyperbole but 5'9 @200lbs is pretty damn muscular, its work to do that without steroids.

As for Hathaway, ugly is an awfully extreme label. I'm kind of indifferent to her casting, and I can think of women who are more sexy, seductive, etc. but she is a far cry from being ugly.

If you think the square cockpit is not aerodynamic and uninspired look at this. I don't think the intent was to make it a fighter jet...it has rotors for God's sake.

I dont like Anne Hathaway being cast as Googles. I have never thought she was that attractive. Maybe a little like an ugly duckling but thats it. And I do not think she will steal the movie.
I also dont like Bane being what looks like the main villain for the movie. Heck I would have taken a recast Joker before an uninspiring Bane. I've said it before, I would have much more preferred Riddler or Penguin. But Not Penguin with Catwoman. That would be too close to Batman Returns.
I am also not liking the whole city at war theme we seem to be getting based on all the spy pics and what we know from filming.
And I also do not like the idea that Batman was really only active for about a year to year and a half then retired. If I lived in Gotham and this Batman came back after an 8 year retirement I would probably say Batman who? I never got the chance to know ya.

Oh Ill still see it at least once in the theatre. And it might be an OK movie. But I already know it will be the worst of the 3... at least for me.

I dont like that Nolan stayed on to direct the third one. I was hoping that we could see a version with better style. Maybe Ridley Scott if you have to get a tea-drinking scone eater.
