The Dark Knight Rises What do you not like about the movie?

There's a lot of potential for a 4th. It wouldn't even ruin the happy ending, it would show that Bruce got to have a great vacation with Selina for awhile.

I've now seen this movie four times, and plan on seeing it a fifth time (whenever I find time to travel to the only real IMAX theater in Michigan at The Henry Ford).

The more that I see it, the more that I realize that this movie really only has one problem: it simply wasn't long enough.

It's been said many times, and even though they usually are just for the over indulgent, this movie really should have been made into a two-part film. No cut scenes. More Bruce in prison. More of a relationship between Bruce and Miranda. A scene where Alfred picks Bruce up and helps him get back into Gotham. More Selina Kyle. More of what the city was like during occupation. More Gordon. Again, more Selina Kyle (Anne's performance just gets better and better to me the more I see it) :hrt:.

Also, the more I think about the trilogy, the more I wish that Falcone had a cameo in TDKR. He's still alive, and the mob played such a big role in the first two movies.

More of a relationship between Bruce and Miranda.

I didn't mind that because I think it was intentionally short. They weren't meant to have a grand love story, it was instant attraction coupled with Bruce's reaction to Alfred's leaving.

I don't think it was instant attraction on Miranda's part. It seemed pretty planned out. Still, I feel like the scene where [BLACKOUT]she announces to Bruce/Bats that she is actually Talia[/BLACKOUT] would have been even more powerful had there been more of a relationship there.

I agree that dropping Alfred was a mistake, and think him showing up to bring Bruce back to Gotham would've been a great way to re-insert him back into the movie. Also, they gotta ditch the scene with Alfred bawling at the grave. I know they wanted to set up the cafe scene that they'd set up at the beginning of the movie, but, well I guess I don't really know how to fix it, because I think the faked death was stupid, so I would just rid of that altogether, along with all the other The Dark Knight Returns elements (if I haven't already made that clear) ;)

Miranda just wanted to play with Bruce's emotions and state of mind. She even used Rachel and his parents. I knew she was going to stab him in the back later on in the movie.

I think that some problems of this movie lies in the fact that is extremely predictable. It was very clear from day one that JGL was going to be Nolan's Robin and Marion was Talia so that took some of the fun from me as well.

Marion’s death scene is comical. None of the audience from the first fight sees the second fight. That is, no one of significance sees Bane lose. Talia takes away from Bane’s role IMO. Bruce is over confident to a level that is out of character. He acknowledges when speaking to Gordon that The Batman is likely non-existent, Alfred was right about the Joker being misunderstood by Batman, yet knowing all this he doesn’t prepare himself adequately and head Alfred’s warnings due to overconfidence.

Some may say Bruce had to act, but I don’t believe Bane would have moved on the city with Batman in the picture. Bane didn’t know how weak Batman was until the first punch landed, so he would have to assume the Batman was still the legend that took down Ra’s Al Ghul and the LOS. Bane may have caught a glimpse of the out-of-shape nature of The Batman in the roof fight, but for all he knew Batman would recoup himself before confronting him.

Getting Batman out of the picture was what opened the door to it. But, I think the plan was going to go into motion no matter what. Batman out of the game made it easier.

I don't like Robin, but I like John Blake. If that makes sense

Yeah, I don't agree that it wasn't long enough. I think the length was fine. What's troubling about the film to me is that it IS so long and they waste so much time within that running time. Characters that go nowhere. JGL could have had the same effect with much less sceentime. Modine didn't need to be in the film at all. Not enough Bruce, Alfred, Catwoman, Gordon.

There was more than enough bruce...batman actually got less screen time then everybody

The middle section is the weakest of the film imo...the beginning still had a good portion of bruce...yeah jgl got way too much screen time

There is something about the beatdown of Batman (As well shot as that scene is) that really bothers me. I can't really place what it is exactly. Maybe the fact that Batman seems pathetic. I know that's the point. I get it. It's just that Bane seems too confident that things were going to go the way they did. It's his prediciton that Batman was so weak and pathetic that troubles me.

It almost feels kind of silly. At first. I don't know if its because Batman just never has a chance, or if it's just shot a certain way. About halfway through the fight...the tone changes, though, and gets a lot more somber and brutal.

I think it's because Bane is just too invincible. It's like not a single blow has any effect at all. Yet Batman comes back to beat the hell out of him later.

Well, it shouldn't scare Bane that much, cause Batman is on his turf, along with the LOS to help defend him regardless. Bane knew exactly where he was going to be because of Catwoman.

I personally love that scene.

No, the scene is fantastic. It's just one of those little things that I felt a-lot of during the movie. I think it shouldn't have been so one sided. It would have made the final fight scene a little more plausible.

The way Bane was defeated. It was pretty anticlimatic.

From what I'm reading here TDKR sounds like Spider-Man 2. A slow boring movie that most fans say is great but is really awful. A lot of what i'm reading sounds ridiculous.

Like Spidey 2 I think Nolan tried too hard to be artsy. All he had to do is tell a simple story and instead gave us this meandering mess.

Well see that's my whole point. I actually loved the final fight because I understand it was about brute strength. It was just about who was physically the most powerful.
That first scene showed Bane as so invincible that the final fight comes off as.....well, what made the big difference? How did Batman suddenly become strong enough to defeat him?

He did some pushups and situps, and apparently got back into shape. Oh, and he overcame his fear...of...something. Dying, I guess.

Also, in classic "every version of Bane ever" fashion, he knocked the tubes loose.

I hated that
Talia closed her eyes when she died.

The opposite for me.
