The Dark Knight What do you think? Joker, live or die?

Should the Joker live or die in The Dark Knight?

  • The Clown Prince lives!

  • Eh,kill him off.

  • It doesn't really matter what they do.

I don't even want him to go Arkham, I want him to evade capture in TDK (I want a GLOOMY ending) and end up in Arkham in the third.

That way Nolan can still end the trilogy with closure but he or another filmmaker that wants to maintain Nolan's continuity decide to make more films they'll be able to bust Joker out of Arkham any time they want him back in the series.

Hmmm....makes me think about Nolan saying its going to get worse before it gets better.

hmmm good idea by Hole Shot - would be even more fun to just a closing shot of Mister J just running away into the moonlight and then the end!

There is no doubt that the Joker will live in THE DARK KNIGHT- they won't kill him off, they will just chuck him into Arkham. That's not even up for debate. The third installment is where it's going to be at in terms of character development. Joker will get sent to Arkham Asylum at the end of THE DARK KNIGHT, and then in the third installment, he might use his laughing gas to destroy all of the guards, and effectively escape.

Then, he and Two-Face have a couple of scenes together- although, Two-Face is still hungry for revenge because of what Joker did to his face, but they end up forming an alliance to take down Batsy. Then, Harvey betrays Joker and finally destroys him. In the end, Batman will be left with an opportunity to kill Harvey, and Batman will have a motive to kill Harvey (perhaps Harvey might kill Rachel?), but Batman refrains and becomes an ultimate hero. Harvey is sent to prison, and everyone lives happily ever after.

Suicide?

Just tossing that out there.

Lives for The Dark Knight, is killed in the third movie because Batman doesnt believe in revenge but Harvey does. And with a flip of the coin he shots Joker.

Yeah, if the Joker dies it'll be at Harvey's hands. I don't want him to die though :(.

I'd like to see one of two endings.

1) Joker supposedly dies in some horrible way (explosion or vat of acid, whatever) We all think he's dead until close to the end when Bruce begins putting clues together in a flashback and realizes that Mr.J faked his own death. Finally we see him walk off into the night laughing or something.

2) Joker gets a redass beatdown in the final action sequence and is sent to Arkham where he begins seducing his psychiatrist.

Or possibly both in that order.

Lives.

Didn't Goyer say in an interview that the biggest mistake the '89 film made was killing off Batman's arch-enemy.

He'll end up in Arkham i'm sure...Only to escape in a future sequel :D

If not escape after the credits finish. That Joker's a wily one.

I thought it was confirmed that Joker would be on trial in the 3rd movie.

Not in electronic format.

It's in writing though. An old(ish) issue of Script. In the announcements.

Correction: He's signed for an option for the third movie. And why do so many people want villains to return so much? I don't want the Joker to die, but Batman has the best rogues gallery in comics. Don't waste that. I say a different villain/villains for every movie, that doesn't mean Nolan should kill off every villain though.

I truly am sick of comic book movies where the villian gets killed off at the end. It's sooooooo predictable now. Take a hint from the X-men franchise (3 don't count) and keep the main baddie alive.

I wouldn't much enjoy the Joker getting killed off. I think that a hero needs balance... he can't always win. I'd actually much prefer to see the Joker get the "last laugh" so to speak in this movie. Even if the Batman prevents loss of life and property, etc. I'd still like to see the Joker accomplish some sort of goal, or at the bare minimum get away.

god . . . I hope not . . . that's the problem w/ all the past Batman flicks . . . the villains always 'team up' . . . that's so fuackin lame . . . I hope that there's just an all out war between Joker and Face . . . no more of this lame @$$ 'team-up' . . . .

in a way, I guess that Scarecrow and Ra's had a 'team-up', but that was more interesting than any of the other past flicks . . . they were working together for a specific reason . . . they weren't just like "Let's team up and take out Batman" like they basically did in all the other ones (even though we hate each other, yadda, yadda, yadda)

plus Joker is way too narcissistic to team up w/ anybody . . . he doesn't need to share the limelight . . .

Joker will definitely live, and from what I know, I thought Joker hates Two face? I doubt seeing an alliance between the two at all. Nolan's more brilliant then to come up with a cheesy idea like that.

Contracts are often options until the principle day of production. 10% down and the remainder once they know they have a movie.

Otherwise you get things like Nicholas Cage being paid for a Superman movie that never happened.

But it's planned that he'll be in the third. Makes sense to me. Magneto was the best constant in the X Men series.
