Obviously this is a set up so that in 10 to 20 years we can have a Dark Knight Returns movie. :D

You know, that could be title for Batman 3.

I was thinking "Batman: The Dark Knight" sounds a little too much like a fan script title. It doesn't work. It's over-wordy. 'The Dark Knight' pretty much nails it, imo. It's the title I wanted. "The Dark Knight Detective" would have been alright, but it sounds a little cheesy for a film title.

To be honest I didn't like Batman Begins, but now I just can't imagine the movie under any other title. :)

The movie sounds weird without "Batman" in it. It could be any damned movie instead of a Batman movie, but I can live with it.

Same here. I thought the 'Begins' was weird but it certainly fit the movie. Now I hope we really see how "dark" the Batman can be!

Although 'Legend of the Dark Knight' would've been cool too.

I like the title, but I think they should call it Batman: The Dark Knight, simple because WE know Batman as The Dark Knight, but non-comic book geek people don't know Batman's surname as well as we do.

This title is bad ass!! It's original, especially with it being the first Batman fim not to have "Batman" in the title............

i bet when it comes out it will be called batman: the darknight just for promotional purposes so general audience knows its a batman film. it also sounds cooler to me:)

^I'm glad to see that Nolan has the balls Raimi wish he had.........

**** numbers.... this ain't star wars.....

Too bad he doesnt have the movies Raimi has. BB was fresh but lets not go crazy. This movie should be called Batman Begins: Legacy of the Megastone.

what movies are you refering to... The Dead series, or the Gift, or a Simple plan....

Dead series was B film fun, but nothing to go gaga over

gift and simple plan were average...

Nolan did BB, Memento, which are great films, the prestige looks great too...

Im pretty sure it's Batman: The Dark Knight

I love it.

not to be mean, bit i can care less what non-comic book people think of the title (and if you are worried about word not getting out for ticket sales, then thats what previews are for) . we all know what it stand for. the title is great!

Perfect title. As I said elsewhere, the two cinematic confrontations of Batman and Joker, being titled Batman and The Dark Knight... I don't know, it has a nice feel to it...

Raimi, as Nolan, had the balls to translate the story of one of the comic industry's biggest icons to the big screen and make something awesome out of it. And you judge his courage from the titles he's chosen? "The amazing Spider-man" would be good, but only because we're familiar with it. Think of it without the Spider-man part. E.g. the amazing Robocop. Sounds a little corny, right? That's how "the amazing Spider-man" would sound to a non-fan. Obviously, "the Dark Knight" doesn't have that disadvantage, so it's an excellent choice.

To me it sounds like they think THIS MOVIE will be the definitive Batman film. The one that delivers all the goods.

dude, first off, my message was tounge and cheek, so don't get your panties in a bunch, second off, I hate sequels with Numbers after them... Raimi originally wanted to do "The Mazing Spider-man" but for whatever reason, he opted out... and it was stupid of him to do so... it was Spiderman in the title, of course anyone with half a brain could realize it's a Spiderman film

I like the Dark Knight - it's very romantic and mysterious, and doesn't sound like another section that just came off the conveyor belt. I'm a big fan of the Spider-Man films, but I wish it wasn't just Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3...

I like the title, I figure they'll end up calling it Batman: The Dark Knight, but that's cool too.

I'm not getting my panties in a bunch. When I get my panties in a bunch, YOU'LL KNOW IT! :p (Wow, acting tough on the Internet is so much fun!)
Anyway, "The Amazing Spider-man" was a working title. I think the reason it wasn't used as the final title is the one I mentioned above. Of course people would know Spidey's in it, but that doesn't stop it from sounding cheesy to a non-fan. Sadly, people are critical enough of super-heroes, even without the help of grandiose adjectives.
Then again, they are considering "The Incredible Hulk", so you may be right...

It made me think of that, too, though I don't know if it was intentional. It sounds like "Batman has begun, now see what he's really about".

No Batman: The Dark Knight, dunno doesn't sound right! THE DARK KNIGHT does!
