What happened to that Captain America Footage?

That's the arctic scene - it was decided that opening the movie with a botched suicide wasnt the way to go.

And yep, with hindsight, a lot of things LL said would be in the movie should have been taken with a pinch of salt.
I bet if the Dark Night came out before Hulk they would have rethought that decision. I think the Dark Night really opened some doors as far as how realistic and dark superhero movies can be.

These are pics I have taken myself. I also posted them in the DVD thread :p

The footage itself lasts around 2 seconds so you have to have a really fast eye to catch it.

Cool!, Thanks!

Do you mind if I repost those pics somewhere else?

^^Unless it's been manipulated, that sure does look like Cap's shield, along with the outline of a body.

Indeed it does. In fact, it's a little too perfect for me; I mean - that outline makes it look as if Cap's striking one of his iconic poses,

captain20america20stat2bl9.jpg

as opposed to looking like someone who was been blown up in mid air and subsequently buried in ice.

It's just so conveniently neat.

i dont know how you get an iconic pose out of this out line

in my opinion it looks more like he has his knees tucked up and his hands over his head

Really? I disagree.

I cant see any leg tucking or hands above the head. Take a look again and compare it to the image I originally posted. You can clearly see that his right arm is at his side, not above his head. It's not dissimiliar to the original image I posted of Cap in that 'iconic' pose I mentioned.

Hey, maybe it's like a rorschach and open to interpretation but to me; it's pretty obvious.

Thanks for the screencaps Kingman.

It's a nice easter egg but frankly i was expecting something more. The way it was talked up i thought we'd get more than 2 seconds where you can barely see a thing unless you freeze frame.:o

So if thats Cap, with shield... what about the Shield in Ironman?

Was it just a replica of Caps or was Cap found before and somehow Stark purchased it... i think that Tony was trying to replicate the shield if Cap was found i'm sure they wouldn't just sell his shield.

does this count::woot::oldrazz:

Anyone else read the bonus story attached to the Walmart Iron Man DVD? It's an excellent little comic that tells of Nick Fury and Agent Coulson's behind the scenes dealings during the events of the film. It's very well written and extremely interesting. The reason I'm posting here is the story eludes to Stark's father's involvement in Project Rebirth.

It states that, off camera, Tony pulled the old files on an alloy his father worked on during WWII. Tony found an example of the alloy in his father's archives and then used it to strengthen his suit of armor. It shows him working on a Captain America shield in a small panel. What Tony found was just a prototype, a reject of Cap's real shield. According to the story, that's what was on Tony's work bench in that one scene.

About the shield...

"The final product was lost... although you can bet your life we'll never stop looking for it."

This is brilliant and it ties the Avengers arc together. I wonder if this is the path Marvel is taking?!?!?

"blind or a troll"
If what SUPERBENITEZ said was right it would make Captain America about 20 feet tall when you compare him to the ice around him. What I pointed out just makes more sense. IMO

i see your point, but like i said above, that would make the shield as big as a house, if that truly is the way this is meant to be seen then the people who did it are freaking ******s

(that or giants)

:)

It's being thrown towards the screen at that point. It looks better when you see it on screen. If I had a bluray drive in my computer. I'd get a proper screenshot of it.
If you look close enough you can make out his suit too. ;)

Are you guys thinking that Cap's portion of ice is connected to the plateau being shattered? It's not. Think in terms of foreground/midground/background- his body's the foreground, the midground is the giant divide between his isolated area and the plateau, and the shattering plateau is in the background. So no, Cap's shield could not be the size of a house based on the simple fact that his icy tomb is not connected to the shattering plateau.

ooooooooohhhhhhhhh
thanks for clearing that up!

:)

BTW im sorry if i insulted anyone about their opinions

Maybe Cap takes the Henry Pym growth particles right before his cryogenic freeze?

Since there's still confusion, I took the liberty in Paint of outlining things:

It's definitely not exact- I can already see I somewhat misjudged where the midground was towards the right- but this is to give others an idea of what I'm seeing.

You're right. I'm uploading the clip so it'll clear things up. Banner is nothing but a speck when he's on top of the cliff in the background.

Qualities reduced for Youtube but here's the alternate opening

Thanks for uploading.

I can't believe that Marvel thought this scene was too dark for children to handle. I mean in the script it was a dark scene cos Banner actually puts the gun in his mouth and then pulls the trigger and we see Hulk spit out the bullet but they changed it for the film and Banner doesn't even fire!

I can't understand why they made these changes.

Hmmn...I know Cap's appearance was supposed to be an easter egg for the fans but they really shouldn't have just swiped a generic cap pose (any number of statues, posters or covers could have been the source) and slapped that behind the ice. Even if it's only for a split second it does look rather stupid.

Personally, I'd rather have seen a longer shot (that one is damn quick!! You can't even really see it in the Youtube clip) with the shape of a man in a limp pose with maybe a flash of the blue through the rags of his army fatigues than this. Fans would still know who it's meant to be, and it wouldn't look so 'staged'.

Maybe it was meant as a placeholder type thing until the shots were completed? - Banners eyes and the Hulk's hands look a little off in the youtube clip (compared to how they looked in the film) but its hard to tell just how finished they are from that.
