What If's You'd like to read

Back at comixfan it was suggested that they do a What if based on creators. The big one I'd like to see would be What If Chris Claremont never left writing Xmen?

PLEASE ,IT WOULD SUCK. Claremont started slipping in oh, 'bout 1987 or so. i just quit after that. the X-men were friends to me in my teen years. silvestri (who's early x-work SUCKED) came on and claremont changed direction. and not in a good way. his writing was just overwrought rubbish at that point.

how bout-WHAT IF? aLan Moore and Dave Gibbons swithed projects with Frank mIller and Klaus Janson (DARK KNIGHT AND WATCHMEN)

Blashphemy. While it's true that he should never be allowed near the core X-Men ever again, his work up until his departure of the second series was tops.

What If Civil War Hadn't Happened?

Cap would be alive, Stark would still be a pompous jacka$$ and Spidey's life would suck a little less.

I was aiming more at what if the disaster at Stamford had happened, but the SHRA hadn't been pushed through.

What if Joey Q was hit by a cab breaking his jaw and both hands before falling face first into a sewer hole, lying in filth until he woke up hours later, crawling out of the disgusting muck he is attacked by a band of mutant gang gerbals and is raped repeatedly before interviewing at marvel?

Bob Harras would still be EiC. :(

True although he makes horrible decisions about letting writers recon things to @hit. JMS and Bendis spring to mind. Hell I like JMS as a writer, but he needs to be reeled in from time to time and if Bendis has his way I might turn out to be a Skrull in a few short months.

Well, I've said for a while now that JMS could be (and might be) Marvel's best writer. All he needs is an editor with the ability to tell him "no" every now and then.

Bendis is different animal. He's past the point of control, I think.

I really liked Millar's run too, especially Last Stand. I'm curious to see how Slott's gonna do with the major title though. I went from completely ignoring the Iniative as something stupid, to accidently reading a bit once, and now I'm completely hooked by the way he alternates the story and seems to regard his readers as intelligent enough to get complex situations/emotions and subtlety.

Basically, the team would vow to stay together, despite losing the funding of the Maria Stark Foundation for a while. The story would focus on whomever decided to remain with/rejoin the team, rebuilding the Avengers as a more static group, eventually battling Magneto to regain control of the Scarlet Witch (before "House of M" could happen). It's not something I've really planned out in depth, I'd just like to see how somebody (NOT Brian Bendis) would handle it.

"Jesus," Steve whispered softly as he looked at the wreckage that had, only a few short hours earlier been his home. He'd lost four friends... no, five. He closed his eyes as a tear slid. He reminded himself that Wanda, the true Wanda, was a friend. She was not the lunatic she had degenerated into. Four lives... gone... forever?

"It's over Steve," Tony said in voice choked with pain. "I'm pulling the plug. This... this isn't working anymore."

Steve looked at the wreckage. Part of him agreed with Tony. But another part... another part KNEW that they needed to stay together, to stand beside one another. He knew that Assembled, they were more powerful than they could ever be seperately, and that it would be almost disrespectful to their fallen friends to quit. "No," Steve replied, his eyes open and resolute. he had that look in his eyes as he stared at the mansion. It was a look that could rais an army, give courage in the face of the greatest danger, and ralley heroes.

It wasn't working on Tony. "No," Tony said again. "I'm not funding any more deaths or psychos."

"If you have to quit Tony," Steve said, gently and without accusation. "Then I understand. You have done all that anyone could ask of you and more. But as long as I breath, The Avengers will answer the call."

Tony looked at him. "I'll sign the deed over to you," he sighed. "And leave you with a Quin-Jet, but... but that's it. I'm pulling the funding."

and so Tony did. and Cap did as he promised. He called for heroes. Spider-Man answered, undeterred by the fact that there was no money. Luke Cage answered, brining with him stolen drug money and his pregnant girlfriend. She-Hulk answered, despite her desire to live a normal life. Cap even went against his better judgement and called those who had been out of the game: Darkhawk, the GLA, and Firebird. They all answered the call. with the Avengers now running, though on half the budget and under constant rebuilding, they did their best. It was when the "Wanda" question came up that the Avengers faced their first true test.

Tony, and a small group of other former Avengers opted for killing Wanda, to protect the world. Mr. Immortal opted for killing Wanda to give her peace, insisting that it wasn't so bad. Cap and the others were desperate for another way, and out of the mouth of babes... Squirrel Girl brought up "The Cure". it would remove her powers, make her homo-sapien. Magneto resisted along with the X-Men. it was a pitched battle with X-Man vs. Avenger.

Eventually it was Prof. Xavier and Peter Parker who plunged the needle into Wanda. Cap was dead, not by the X-Men or Magneto's hand, but in the reality altering turbulence caused by Wanda's fractured psyche he'd been wiped from existance, along with Flatman, and Luke Cage's baby.

Tony returned to take up leadership of the Avengers, but the Avengers who'd served in his absence seemed to look more toward Mr. Immortal, who'd proven himself in that time.

What If Civil War Hadn't Happened?

Tony listened to Cap, and there was no division as the Super-Heroes stood united against registration, however they already had Tony's files. It started slow and quiet. Low level heroes would dissappear, former New Warriors at first, then mutants who hadn't gone to Xavier's. it excelerated exponentially, they would dissappear and re-appear fighting against their own kind. This was no civil war, it was domination through mind-control. The Super-Heroes and Super-Villains alike were on the run, all of them out-laws, all of them publicly exposed, yes including Spider-Man. Is there no safe place to hide? Stark Tower was left in a hole filled ruin, the Xavier Compound was cracked open. where do you go when the very world you wish to protect has turned against you? Marvel's next great event: Marvel Manhunt

What if the Norman Osborn slept with Gwen Stacy?

Well,Norman Orsborn would have the most intense clim** ever-Gwen not so much. Gwen dies as normal continuity plays out. but now, Norman wanders the earth in search of a comparable piece of a**. He never finds it..but at least he's not bothering poor Peter Parker:hyper:

So basically...we're all better off if Gwen ****s Norman.
