Yeah, I freaking -hated- Millar's writing there. It was basically just another pedestal for him to pedal his anti-government crap he tries to shove down our throats whenever he gets the chance. And he did it through some pretty hefty mischaracterizations.

I stopped reading his crap after his Ultimates....when he had some soldiers shove little kids to the ground...being a member of the US Armed forces is offended me big time.

I didn't mind his Ultimates. There were some questionable parts (They acted a hell of a load more like HAMMER than SHIELD), but most of his other crap is, well, crap.

I feel like the only thing that was in character that happened in Civil War was when Cap surrendered.

Well, Tony taking charge was also in character. But cloning Thor, beating Cap to within a few inches of life, pretty much all the other stuff? That was wrong.

Well, Cap overcoming his pride and realizing just what he was doing is something I think he'd normally do. However, what he was doing before? That wouldn't be it. All he'd do is continue to be a hero, just underground. Busting his friends out of a maximum security, alternate dimension prison? I don't see it.

However, Tony's "Nazis" weren't that bad. lol Most of them simply went to arrest people, and were generally patient, and generally were attacked.

I don't think he would have put himself in that position to begin with, honestly. He knew from day one that the American people wanted the registration. And considering how often he's gone against the government when he felt that it didn't have the "American Way" in mind, giving up is not that far out of character, though him getting into that position in the first place is what's truly out of character.

Agreed.

It wouldn't be the first time he's gone against what the American people AND government have felt about him. He just continued doing what he felt was right by his country's ideals.

Not really. I think the idea behind it was good, but it was executed poorly, mostly because of the harsh mis-characterizations, particularly with Spidey and Cap. I didn't outright HATE it, but it's kinda like seeing a really hot chick who sounds like John Goodman: it's worth the look, but you could care less about whatever it says.

The art was nice, though.

I think Cap would have tried to fight the act instead of his fellow heroes. Know your battlegrounds. This was a political battleground and should have been fought as one....protests and marches. Gaining support from one party. Republicans support registration....Democrats support Cap. I would also say that if it was illegal unregistered heroes to act then Cap wouldnt have had them act as heroes.

Yeah, pretty much how I felt. But I think you're talking strictly about the seven CW issues (I think they were seven). I was asking about the whole lot, tie-ins included.

Ah, my mistake. Though, the opinion still carries over, for the most part. I didn't care much for the Wolverine story [though I liked it when he kicked dude in the junk--it's so funny when it happens to someone else]. I honestly felt that the whole thing just didn't sit as well as it could have. Again, not horrible, but a lot of untapped potential.

I liked how he popped his claws several fathoms deep, and it didn't kill or crush him, or actually negatively impact the suit.

the point I was getting at is that the Republicans and Democrats dont stay united on anything for long....and how long would it take the party not in power to use Captain America as the point for their side
