What is God?

No bra. I honestly think we'd be even crazier than we are if we didn't have some eternal sense of unity like the force. May the force be with you.

Yeah, we'd be much worse off without wars over whose "god" is the true/better one. Even if he were real, he's a pretty damn divisive, conflict-causing son of a b**ch.

Dooo000ooodz

It is totally easy to understand what's probably going on, once you bring TIME into it.

The question is not "Wull, if there was a Creator, where did HE come from?!"

The question is, "Why do humans think everything has to have a starting point? "

The answer is easy, in my system.

We are trapped between two parentheses...the exact FIRST moment of Time, and the exact LAST moment of Time.
There was a yesterday, and there was a day before that, and there was a day before that, and this continues on backward until the first moment when time started.
Because of the linear nature of time, Time does not have to have an end, but it MUST have a begining.(obviously I'm talking about MY beliefs now. I think that stuff about cyclical time, or time extending both forward AND backward for infinity is effing ******ed. It leaves out the important 3rd part of the equation.....THE PRESENT, which doesn't exist, but....that's a different topic...)

So go back to yesterday, then the day before that, then the day befoire that, all the way back to the moment the Universe and Time started.
What is there?!?......back before Time and The Universe existed?!?

GOD

But this is what people forget.
GOD INVENTED AND CREATED TIME AS WELL.

God doesn't live in TIME. He can dip in to it if he wants, like we might put our hand in our fish's aquarium. But we don't live in the aquarium.

TIME is OUR AQUARIUM.
It's a cage, boundaries, a place for us to live.

And it HAD to be a boundary as it is, because WE NEVER EXISTED BEFORE.
That MEANS, there will be a moment when *p00f* things "exist"...that did NOT exist before.

That dictates linearity.
The act of God's creation is the first time there was ANYTHING that had "A BEGINING".

He just I.S.
He doesn't live IN TIME like we do.
WE are the ones with the finite minds who can't comprehend anything not having a begining, not HIM.

So it actually makes perfect sense, that there just IS God, not even a pure state of "being", but a pure state of "BE".

And he wanted sentient companions. But HE is God. There's no way they could be God, Infinite beings, if they had a creator, and had a START POINT.

So, the nature of we humans dictates the nature of the medium through which we're expressed.....FINITUDE.
We live in the little aquarium where he keeps us, one wall is the first moment of the universe, the opposite wall is the last moment of the universe.

If you think about it, it's really the only origin story that makes sense and answers any questions.

Wow, Wilhelm, I generally don't agree with you, but that's a pretty damn good post.

Some people believe there's this devil guy starting that stuff you know...

God is something that gives you faith, and something you need not truely understand.

Except, you know, they're not really fighting over whose religion got the devil right. Regardless of whether some devil is nudging people or whatever (like they need it), it's still the figure of god that's acting as the polarizing and divisive thing. If god's such a great force for unity, shouldn't he be able to overcome the devil trying to influence people into conflict? Whether god exists or not, whether it's completely his fault or not, a great uniter he isn't.

God Created The Devil.
God Knew The Devil Would Turn Evil and Tempt Everyone Into Evil.
God Allows The Devil To Roam Freely, Doing Evil.
Therefore God Is To Blame For Any Evil Thing The Devil Does, Since He Has The Power To Destroy The Devil But Chooses Not To.
That's one of the biggest problems with the idea of "The Devil".

God is dog backwards and there's nothing that guy whose name starts with R can do about it. Rayne? Raybia? I can't remember who it is exactly.

It works both ways. For whatever reason religion unites people for good and unfortunately evil too. Why? I think has to do with an eternal struggle between super powerful forces beyond our understanding. :hyper:

No, it's because most religious doctrine encourages an extremely strong "I'm right and you're wrong and you're a bad person if you're not right like me" attitude.

Well that's not been my experience. Religion's been a collective way of saying "we have know damn clue why we're here but we'll believe there's a reason"

No, religion is a collective way of saying "we have no damn clue why we're here but we'll believe THIS is the reason. And if you don't believe it you're a bad person."

That's not true. It's the way people interpret the doctrine (in an unjustafiably literal way) that creates that message.

There's your god.

Not in America.

But if you don't believe me you're a bad person. :cwink:

Funny, America is who I specifically had in mind when I wrote that.
