Comics What is Marvel thinking?!

I doubt we ever see fraction or remember, on spidey. More so now those two really don't want to do non creator own books. Waid Is still a more viable option if slott was to leave in the near future.

Can't wait to see Mary Jane hit the armored jackpot, tiger. Go Tony.

Well we don't know what mj and stark deal will be I do really hope she won't be doing or dating stark. After all the reasons she left peter and all. I personally hope she is either just their as a manager or something like role or that rumor I brought up them possibly big related.

Yup man how long has it been since prowler been in any book let alone spidey.

Well next week is the week for vol. 4 relaunch. Curious to see how this vol turns out.

Dear Lord. Someone needs to take Slott away from ASM already :yuk:

Oh come on with this train of thought. We don't know how this plot will turn out. Plus how long it be. Hell with the way marvel wants to treat all books like tv seasons and every new vol things change. We likely will get 20 to 24 issues in this vol for a yr to a little over a yr. Then next vol and next marvel reading things will be different. Again I don't have any major gripes with slott. And it's not like guy be on the book forever. And with him been on book for what now 8 yrs. He bound to probably only have another 2 yrs give or take. Before he moves to another.

dear god, someone with clarity of mind... I fully agree with this wholeheartedly... I've been saying that for MANY months now... his time should have been up a long time ago and now it's time to get some fresh blood on the book... in MY humble opinion, he's become sloppy and complacent with his writing... time to move on, Slotty...

Tomorrow starts the next relaunch ie vol. Where parker industries is a global success and peter is world famous and rich and ad others said going to To be a mix of stark and batman incorpated and stuff.

That sound terrible. Parker Industries.

the whole idea and concept is inane and just takes Peter Parker and transforms him into something that he is not... it takes away the core of what he is and turns him into a Tony Stark clone... he is and always has been that Hard-Luck Parker character, not this assinine attempt to place him in the ranks of Marvel's Rich and Famous... Slott's efforts to do a totally complete turnaround of the character is just plain ridiculous... as far as I'M concerned, Slott just ruins the book and the character and needs to be dumped from this title PRONTO...

Here's the deal... remember when people would complain ad nauseum about why Batman doesn't kill... and then they got Jean-Paul to become the new Batman, and he kills someone, and the fans flipped... it's a sort of "be careful what you wish for" situation.

For almost ten years now, people have complained about this regression Marvel put on Peter Parker since OMD... so Marvel is basically giving them what they want... after all this time, Peter SHOULD have some money from his brains, he should be more mature, whether he's married or not, he should be in a much better state of affairs then back in the day...

And you know what? People are going to flip.

You can't win.

The last Spider-Man comic I read was Superior #31.

I've not missed it one bit.

First got thru reading asm 1 a little while ago. Let's start on peaks at the other spider books. Some nice little warm ups to the new series launchs. I liked the one for Web warriors and miles the most. The others where ok. And boy silk with cat that going to be odd. I am still curious to see where prego jessica drew story goes.

Now for the main story. I didn't think it was that bad. A good ser up for this vol plotline. And going to be a curious ride to see where the old parker luck goes on global scale. The new enhancements to suit where intteresting. Loved the new webbing modes. So looks like suit is armor and fabric in one deal. Also the reveal with ock at the end was good. Can't wait to see where that goes. Also loved seeing Hobbie brown back in spidey books and works for peter. And God dam Sanjay is still a super two timing jerk. Things won't go good for her I can see. I would have thought after what the ghost did to her she would have turned over over a new leaf. Overall not a bad start and to the folks on spiderman stark comparison loved that even the book itself took a jab at that.

I'd hardly call going from grad school dropout to CEO natural progression for someone who dedicated his life to fighting crime, which is why it took Marla Jameson and spOCK for it to happen. This is last season of Roseanne level shark jumping.

Aloha,
The kid who was smart enough to invent something that 3M couldn't (webbing-Sam Raimi), should be able to make a decent living for himself in these days. Peter is inheriting the company that SpOck built. It is a progression of the character as long as they don't change his basic personality. This won't last forever, anymore than Wolverine losing his adamantium, or Tony staying on a drunken bender. But we should see some great new action from Spidey/Peter as he will be put in different settings than he has for most of his 50 plus years. The Spidey mobile was terrible, but the idea that Spidey can't swing through all places due to the terrain makes plenty of sense. I'm sure this car will be bad ass.We are all everymen and women until we get rich. How will being rich change Peter? Time will tell.
Spidey rules

But still, it goes against the appeal of Spider-Man. People complained about all the regression since OMD because the new Peter Parker never acts like how we've come to know Peter to act. BND Peter is a pathetic manchild, who never wins and never learns his lessons. He's going through the same motions he did as a teenager when he's now 25.

Making him a rich CEO is just a completely ridiculous solution that doesn't solve that problem. Like remember Peter getting to act like a competent superhero and a responsible adult and dealt with real world and personal problems and not, "Doc Ock is acting like a supervillain and no one is noticing, how crazy-town banana pants!!"

So, is anyone gonna pick up this new book?

I'm really torn. It sounds like it's gonna be awful, the character since OMD has been so wishy-washy and not how I like reading Peter during his other stretches. It's like Marvel just doesn't have any idea who Peter is anymore nor what to do with the character.

The fact that Peter is having success with money and his tech, etc. doesn't really appeal to me since he now sounds like Bruce Wayne or Tony Stark. I get that this is the company Spock created but...why is this type of success ok but having a successful marriage is not??

I do like the fact that 'eyesore Ramos' is not doing the art on these new books. That's at least something of a plus.

Even as much as I may not like the idea of what is happening, I am still intrigued to see where this goes. And, slightly off-topic, I am not at all liking the idea of Tony possibly hooking up with MJ. Eww.

i got it yesterday really like i said in my above post it wasnt that bad. Art look great, and plot was a nice set up. So really its all a matter of does it peak your interests or not.

As for mj in ironman i still so hope she isnt going to end up his gf or they hook up. I still like the rumor that she and stark could be related.

Oh, sorry, I must've scrolled down the page too quickly and didn't see your review. Yeah, at this point I'm not so sure my interest is piqued enough to warrant buying this new line of books.

any book without Horrendous Ramos is like a breath of fresh air... now if only a Spidey book without that Damn Slott could be a reality, then it's possible that this book MIGHT have a chance with me...

Agreed. I liked Slott work on Superior Spider-Man but he keep ruining Peter Parker character. There nothing for Peter to learn being Tony Stark wannabe.

Maybe/probably it was necessary to turn Peter into this Tony Stark wannabe for whatever plans they have for the next "biggest Spider-Man event ever" which I predict Marvel will unleash next year...

I mean, where do you go after stories like Goblin Nation and Spider-Verse?

Oh, and I suppose there will be another Amazing Spider-Man 1 around this time next year. Either that or something like Superior Spider-Man again.

Thought I would hate the book but I dug it. It's an easy concept to hate without reading, but this is letting Parker evolve with confidence and act more his age. And that's pretty apparent in the first issue. Loved the scene where it almost seems like he's nervous about asking Sanjani out and then just tells her off. Also dug how they get the Stark comparison out of the way very quickly.

The one thing that still pisses me off is the MJ thing. Renew your vows really got me hoping Marvel would get that relationship going again and play make up for all the past bs. And now they put her in Starks book? They are just ****ing with MJ fans now.
