Comics What is Marvel thinking?!

Bendis brought her over to Iron Man because the spider writers didn't have any plans for her.

all i dont want is to see bendis make mary jane stark girlfriend or they are shacking up with each other. Cause stark is worst hero to hook up with after all the stuff mj told peter not wanting to get invovled with hero stuff. That be a total slap in the face to us spidey fans. All i hope is she is just like a marketing rep for him. To get him in a better place. Or that rumor i brought up that bendis may make them related in some form.

As a fan of MJ, how do you feel about this?

Given the two options, I feel a writer who's interested in using her will do better by the character than a writer who feels obligated to include her in his book.

I'm not too worried about Bendis hooking them up. He said their relationship would be new territory for both of them, and that would be the laziest, most creatively bankrupt thing to do.

YOU WANT A FRIDAY BOMB DROP!?? HERE’S YOUR FRIDAY BOMB DROP!

MARY JANE WATSON JOINS THE CAST OF “INVINCIBLE IRON MAN” WITH ISSUE #4

and nobody jumped to hysterical illogical conclusions and all was well with the universe.

I found the last paragraph of the CBR article interesting.

Invincible Iron Man," which launches this October, will find Tony Stark stepping into a new suit of armor and a new era of his life, as he tries to uncover the mystery of his parentage. In its fourth issue, Mary Jane will join the team in a new role. It is unclear whether this new role is related to "Invincible Iron Man's" sister title, which was announced but not named earlier this summer.

I have to say I agree with your assessment of choosing between the two options. I'd rather have someone who is interested in writing the character utilize her, rather than someone being forced to include her.

MJ hooking up with Tony is lazy amongst other things and it's got to be the number one 'worry' on most fans minds, myself included. Ever since OMD, it seems MJ has been written so poorly and I blame Slott for this...he doesn't value the character as much as most fans do or previous writers have at least.

I still haven't read Renew Your Vows yet as my local comic shop is currently waiting on one of the issues to come in--had some trouble with the ordering, but I won't read it until I have all 5 issues in hand. But...I have been rereading some other great stories involving MJ and just recently finished up a bunch of issues from volume 2 written by the awesome JMS. Reading those again makes me long for MJ to be well-written and also makes me long for having her and Peter together once more. I'm betting Renew Your Vows will probably make that desire stronger. So...while it may be upsetting to me to have her 'out of the picture' for Peter I can only hope Bendis does right by her and brings back the familiar, great MJ.

Bendis brought her over to Iron Man because the spider writers didn't have any plans for her.

Marvel and the writers should be pushing for her in Spider-Man though. Especially after the reception Renew your vows got. They know they are pissing people off, they have been for quite sometime with the character. Renew Your Vows just seems like even more of a tease that was messing with readers now.

Not to say Bendis hasn't written some great stories, but I personally have not been able to stand him for quite sometime. Especially after his X-Men runs and what he did to Richard Rider after waiting years to find out what happened. I don't want him anywhere near MJ. Or anyone Spider related outside of the Ultimate characters .But I've been proved wrong before. Time will tell.

.

You're just bitter.

Slott loves the character, and can write her well... go read Spider-Island for proof of that.

Enjoy your half empty glass... :whatever:

If mj is to be a main character in mcu spidey films. Watch by 2017 she will be back in spidey books.

Yeah, that's my thought as well.

Or that Stark and Parker are gonna battle it out when Civil War 2 hits. Leaving MJ to choose sides.

Is the eye-roll necessary? No, it isn't.

Not bitter to want better for the character that I enjoy and despite Slott's Spider-Island, which I've read, and from what I hear about Renew Your Vows, doesn't change my stance on my view.

As you so often say, please respect my opinion. Thanks bud :yay:

That would be great. The MCU Spider-Man films can definitely make an impact in the books, especially if they become popular and successful and draw in new fans. We'll have to see how things play out.

I actually enjoyed the first issue. It's interesting seeing Pete in the new situation. I mean like others said, people complain about not letting Pete grow up and use his mind to make a good living. So now people complain when Marvel gives it to them. :whatever:

And the situation may be similar to Tony Stark, but Peter is not Tony. He's going to handle things differently. I look forward to see what the future holds for our favorite webslinger.

Speaking of Tony, count me among those disappointed by MJ moving over to Iron Man. I was hoping after Renew Your Vows, that Pete and MJ could start dating again in this new status quo.

But the eye roll is so much fun... :csad:

I can respect that you have an opinion, but I can also disagree with it.
You stated that Slott "doesn't value the character", to which I disagree.
You can see that in the way he writes her... which most times comes across as "very much in character"... in my opinion.

And finally, in my opinion, you did sound "bitter"... though it is difficult to judge tone from a message board... haha

Peace. :yay:

I have no issue with someone disagreeing with my opinion. I'm very respectful of others and their viewpoints. However, I felt that you were attacking my opinion with the 'eye-roll' and the tone of your reply gave that impression.

No worries though. I'm not bitter about that nor my opinion on Slott and the handling of MJ. We obviously have different views on this.

I'm actually looking forward to and slightly worried about how Bendis will handle MJ in the IIM series. With any luck after some time she'll make her way back into Peter's life.

Take care :yay:

I wanted to give this a chance despite its prenise, but I just felt the issue was fairly crap. Loved the art though. Story just doesn't cut it for me though. Thought the "I'm not Iron-man" bit got old real fast, especially seeing Hobie double for Peter as Spider-man. I don't see myself going long without cancelling my standing order, but I'll give it a couple of issues just to see.

I also didn't think much of the various other titles they advertised in the back end of the issue. The Spider-woman issue was just ridiculous. Too silly of a concept for me to go along with and seems a far cry from what she once was.

My thoughts on issue #1.
Peter is still Peter, but has grown into a more responsible young adult. He will NEVER be Tony Stark because of his personality. He's inheriting the company from SpOck but already creating a scholarship program in Uncle Ben's name. Some question why he named it Uncle Ben instead of Ben Parker. I think this was done by Peter to always keep him grounded and remember his roots.Spider Mobile was cool but a little too reminiscent of the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoons ( can you say TOY for Christmas?)
Glad Peter put Sajani in her place. I think it was a mistake not to fire her for her underhandedness.
When I think back, I see where Peter Parker invented what would now be called Super Glue that dissolves, a GPS tracking device with miniature transmitter and receiver Low Jack (spider tracer), web shooters all before Ditko left the comics. Peter is supposed to be financially secure. It took 50 plus years before someone put those things together. When the FF lost their money, Mr. Fantastic came up with all kinds of products to regain his fortune. That many inventions were created by regular Everyman guys, who went on to be successful as a result of it, does not take away (at least yet) from Peters Everyman persona.
I'm looking forward not only to Amazing but how Peter interacts with Miles.

The Spider-tumbler will never be cool. lol. I have to wonder if much of this, including the revival of the Spider-mobile, will just end up much like the original spider-mobile as just a weird thing they tried that disappears barely to be mentioned again.

The best part of this new ASM issue;

Seeing the inevitable return of Doc Ock

I haven't read that issue yet but I am looking forward to his return. I really liked
"The Superior Spiderman".

So did I. It's the most I've enjoyed the Spidey comics in years.

i hope they explain who took his dead corpse from back awhile. If folks remembers carlie came upon his grave and it was gone.

I just read the All New issue. And I gotta say. It's a much better reboot than I originally thought.

Aloha,
There have been toys with Spider-Man in a car before, now there is going to be an official Spider Mobile . I think Hasbro still has a contract with Marvel. This is a toy waiting for Christmas if ever I saw one. As far as in the current comics, I don't see Peter ever relying on anything other than web swinging. It's a part of who he is. I think in certain countries and when the terrain requires it, he'll use the car.I'm interested in how he develops now that he has a certain amount of money for the first time. The Uncle Ben Scholarship was a good indication.
