I remember that issue. Had some great artwork by Mark Beacham, I believe. His women looked absolutely gorgeous. There was a shot of MJ sitting in a bubble bath. A later issue he drew had a gorgeous Black Cat.

BTW, some of Sony's "dumb" ideas would actually work for a one-off episode of a TV series, because we already get episodes like that in these other superhero shows. A bad Santa could easily be a Christmas episode, but might be more of a sub plot. Hypno Hustler could be someone Spidey stops in another episode in the first act. Aunt May's past could easily be another episode delving into the character. As actual movies though, they would suck.

Actually, Burglar Santa completely sounds like someone who would show up in an ABC/ CBS procedural like Castle. He wouldn't be at all out of place there since his whole premise is rather down to earth and like real life crime (getting kids to tell him where they live and then robbing the house).

Super Strength.
Super Agility.
And that's just Spider-Man himself not his villains.
Then there are the costs for shooting in New York.

Flash is easily achieved as he simply runs real quick.

Wall crawling? That's simple, crawl on the floor and tilt the camera.

Effects have been easier and cheaper than they have been. I've seen decent effects on TV.

And, as much as I would wat them to, they wouldn't shoot in NYC except for a few exteriors.

All the Netflix shows are being filmed in NYC, so the price for that doesn't seem to be an issue lol

Web swinging is as simple as having a crane and wires if you're going practical. Cgi swing isn't impossible on a TV budget either. Even better if it's 8-10 episode seasons.
Just limit the super complicated computer generated fast moving camera swings for the films if necessary.
They could also have him do extreme parkour along with the swinging

Super strength and agility? Non-issue...

If Spider-Man were like Flash on CW I would be all over that show (to be honest, I'd watch it regardless). Flash is freaking amazing.

Then they should do my suggestion of an Agents of Shield type Spiderman TV series.

Hear me out...

Instead of putting the focus on Spiderman himself put it on someone else in the Spiderman universe.

My idea is title the show:

Spiderman: The DB

and put the focus on the Daily Bugle, something we have yet to get from this Amazing Spiderman universe.

Obviously some of the support characters would be:

JJJ
Robbie
Betty
etc.

But they would also be able to introduce certain characters, like Eddie Brock, that could lead into other stories/films (think Venom).

Of course you need some primary protagonists, so go with a new, young Reporter (maybe named Ned) and possibly a NY City Police Officer (Jean DeWolff?).

We know that series of this nature have worked in the past. Yes, itmay not be weekly super powered heros and villains, but it gives you everything inbetween. The Police side of it gets you into the action, while the news reporter gets you tracking down the stories.

You can get into all of the crime bosses in the Spiderman universe, inclduing the Kingpin and Silvermane. They could be at "war" with each other, trying to rule the underworld.

Add in some underlings, like Hammerhead and Tombstone.

Also, as the stories develop, some lesser villains (or even supporting heroes) could be brought in. For example, Cardiac (wth ties to the underworld), the Jackal (which means that the Empire State University could be a story location), Carrion, Morbius, the Tinkerer, Ringer, Shocker, Black Fox, the Hitman, Sin-Eater (leading to Brock being fired and going psycho = Venom), Styx and Stone, etc.

Some of the lesser heroes could be:

Moon Knight, the Prowler, Paladin and Silver Sable (depending of rights).

And of course, Spiderman could be seen, always in costume.

Not a chance in hell they invest in a freaking Bugle series on Netflix. Unless Marvel is into sitcoms. "The Daily Bugle" could actually be a hit in that regard. But you'd need Peter Parker involved somehow. And Parker involved with the Bugle before he becomes Spiderman obviously would not work. I like the idea of Parker interning there as a high school student his junior year or whatever and then mixing Spiderman into the mix, catching ordinary bad guys and lesser villains. This could be done in more of a campy, comedic manner to capture the humor of a weekly episodic TV series, ala Gotham. You don't need the swinging, CGI heavy Spidey for that because it would naturally be cheesy. That could actually make for a pretty good weekly network TV show.

A Netflix series would seriously go over budget if they get the same actors involved in both the movies and the series. Again, if a Netflix series is going to be some anthology, 8-10 episode miniseries, I have no problems doing that. But if they want an extended TV series lasting many seasons, you have to go more Gotham style or Lois & Clarke style. The show needs to embrace the camp and the comedic elements that the Raimi series captured splendidly.

I'm gonna have to second this, despite some sadness at seeing Garfield depart. Sony has no idea what they're doing.

There's really no other choice for them. Marvel is not going to bring in TASM universe and pair it with the MCU. If they do, it would be their first big mistake.

Sony making any movie after this would have fail written all over it. Spin-Off's are one of the worst ideas ever. TASM3 with the Sinister Six in it would just be a cluttered mess. Going back to just one villain without progressing the Sinister Six/Harry story would make the trilogy look even more like ****. Rebooting again wouldn't make sense.

I'm sorry, but I don't see the best outcome no matter what Sony does. It's Marvel or bust.

Deep down inside I don't think there's any Spider-Man fan out there that doesn't want to see Spidey on the big screen quipping with RDJ... We all want it, some just need closure and some persuasion. It's the right choice, for everyone. I hope you read this Avi, you filthy animal.

I will agree with Fake Avi in that last exchange. The unmasking was a stupid idea long-term-wise in the comics, it would be too in a movie.
