Homecoming What should they do with the Spidey franchise? - Part 2

I hate the idea of a Netflix Spider-Man show! Marvel isn't going to give Spider-Man (their number one Superhero) a lame ass Netflix show! he isn't going to be joining the ranks of Daredevil, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. he's going to be with Cap & Iron Man!

Basically what you guys want is a Spider-Man soap opera?

this. spiderman belongs on the big screen.

From what I have seen the quality rivals most of the higher end shows you can find on cable these days.

Yep. There's Breaking Bad, True Detective, The Knick, Bates Motel, Hannibal, etc...

All I have to say is that if Spider-Man's given an opportunity to shine in a series with the quality level of Breaking Bad? I'm in. All the way.

Quite a few of those shows you mentioned aren't Netflix originals.

Yeah, I realize that's what the discussion was after I posted. But I did mean the high quality shows on television if people are worried about a possible TV show for Spidey.

Then there's House of Cards, OITNB, Marco Polo, Peaky Blinders, and the Netflix season of Arrested Development. Some stuff is hit and miss, but there's stuff rivaling the best of TV and movies. Better than most blockbusters, and more entertaining, in my opinion.

Good point. I doubt a Walking Dead movie would be as good as the series. The series lets the whole story breathe.

Again for Spidey, I would like to see both a series and movies.

Why Marvel Doesn't Need Spider-Man to Make 'Captain America: Civil War'

Ultimately, bringing Spider-Man into a Civil War movie serves corporate interests more than narrative ones, bringing Spider-Man "back" to Marvel being more of an accomplishment than anything that could be achieved inside the story. While there's an argument to be made for Marvel controlling the Spider-Man movie franchise given its apparent troubles at Sony, introducing the character into Captain America: Civil War wouldn't have served Spider-Man or the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as either deserves.

Exactly. Quality TV has come a long way. And remember it would be backed by Marvel Studios/Disney.

And we know this because we know the plot of Capt. America: Civil War?

Well, even if we didn't have potentially really great movies coming out, the first quarter of 2015 is going be very interesting just from the Sony news alone no matter what happens.

Personally I think if Marvel do get their hands on Spider-Man it should just be solo movie and build towards Infinity War. But there is no reason why Spider-Man's villains can't appear in Marvel TV shows because lets be honest here Spider-Man is one of the few Marvel heroes who actually has good and recognisable villains.

If Spider-Man does appear in Civil War it should only to be say to there general audience, 'hey, Spider-Man is now part of the Marvel Universe and he is 'this guy' so when this new guy appears in a solo movie it isn't a blot from the blue.

No, we want a series that will fully develop Spidey and his supporting cast, allow him to build a proper rogues gallery, and to bring the best representation of Spidey in media (TSSM) to life in live action

I think your second point is really valid, especially if they recreate the scene from Civil War. Back story on how long he's been Spider-Man, introduction to the new actor without an awkward battle scene to reveal he's someone else. It could definitely work

A big reason why I am glad the focus will be on Black Panther rather than Spider-Man in CW is Spidey removing his mask set the character back YEARS. If Spidey is in CW it should just be as a side character who doesn't want to register. Basically a cameo and no more. And then the year after bring out the Spider-Man solo movie.

2016 - CW
2017 - Marvel Spider-Man (a year earlier than the planned release of ASM3)

Every one wins, except Garfield.

Only problem with that is casting for PP pretty much has to start NOW. Then again if Spider-Man doesn't remove his mask in CW, (which actually makes sense in the context of him not wanting to reveal his identity and register) that gives Marvel a YEAR to cast Peter Parker.

Which 2017 film gets knocked out the way for Spiderman, or do Marvel do 4 films that year whilst also working on IW?

2018-Spiderman tv series
2019-Spiderman and Defenders movie.

I really don't think Spidey is fit for TV the way Arrow and the Flash are... Full out Marvel origin in 2016.

Respectively disagree. Spiderman source material is tailor made for TV.Look at how good Spectacular was.Imagine if it had been Live action.

All comic books fit a tv show because they are serials with ongoing stories not just one story or arc like many books or films.

And Spiderman fits the most because of his massive collection of great villains.

Not saying Spiderman should solely have a TV show, but for the MCU to feature him before IW it would need to be on TV

I agree, I would only add also his supporting cast. They would really shine if you really got to explore all of those side characters and friendships/rivalries that Parker has with them.

There is way more than May, Gwen/MJ, Flash and JJJ.
