thanks Mr wallace, someone with some sense:up:
It's not so much an issue of sense as respecting your right to disagree with the masses. I haven't seen Pirates yet, but I have no intention of seeing SR in theaters. It holds do little appeal for me that I can wait for it to hit cable.

Last horrible movie I saw was Superman Returns...only because my bro had already bought the tickets in advance at an IMAX. Other than that I don't watch horrible movies, you can usually tell it's horrible by the director/actors involved...like stay away from Michael Bay and Adam Sandler movies for starters.

Bay & Sandler? Who are you, Trey Parker?

we say this because we have "opinions"..I'm very sorry you disagree with our "opinions",but some of us disliked "the crap of steel and pirates".sorry to piss on your supes and pirates parade.Superman's plot was just horrible, and making him have a son, cmon now.But the final nail in the coffin for me was the big "ending"...lets move a big rock into space..yeah sure.Lets see supes fight..doomsday, or lobo..hell parasite..anybody.And as for pirates well..just wasnt good as the 1st one in my "opinion"..not enough jack, too much of will and home girl, the plot was silly.Just a terrible movie
SR was based off the original Superman which was done pre-crisis, so it's not as good as the post-crisis stuff. I'm not a big fan of the whole thing either, but the story was handled well in my view. I haven't seen POTC2 yet, so I won't judge. I'm sure there are some people here who post SR and POTC2 as being the last terrible movie they saw just to push some people's buttons.

Or they just didn't like those movies.

So that automatically makes them terrible?

If he's a *****ebag and hates everything, then probably.

By supervillain I meant someone ala Brainiac, Metallo, Parasite, Darkseid, etc. Luthor's an important part as well, but someone that could have provided a great superbattle would have been good.

Sorry if I wasn't clear.

So you wanted all spectacle and no heart? Your name wouldn't happen to be Jon Peters would it?

In their eyes, yes. If that's their opinion, that's their opinion. There's no need to attack them for expressing it. If, on the other hand, they're calling it bad just to make waves, that's reprehensible, but then so is feeding into it.

You CAN have spectacle AND heart.

Yep...which is why I loved Superman Returns...it had both.

Superman is an icon, that has had MANY incarnations. The most beloved of these incarnations, by the majority of everyday people was the 1978 film. It was absolutely the right move to use that as a starting point to make a new Superman film. There are so many timeless themes present in the story, and the experience was still thrilling. The art direction was amazing, and the visuals were breathtaking. Superman is only an interesting character when his "human" side is showcased, and when he has to really struggle against his desire to live for himself, rather than other people.

Pirates was a great flick as well, and all this bickering between fans of the films is truly comical...I can't help but laugh as fans from both films bash eachother, and the films...it's like a schoolyard pissing contest.

Terrible films on the other hand, are films with no redeeming qualities, that were made with no regard to the film-making process.

That's why for me, the last terrible film I saw was Ultraviolet.

Here here. Ultraviolet was a terrible movie. I mean I like Milla and all, I think she can play those kickass roles but this movie was all around terrible.

See-I equate "terrible" with "completely unenjoyable; devoid of any entertainment value whatsoever". Like Catwoman.

No, I wanted a strong story and great action ala LOTR style, POTC, or Spiderman. I didn't get that with Superman Returns, and it appears that much of the public didn't either considering the dismal performance at the box office.

You can have both spectacle and heart. One would have to be one dumb tool to think a film can't have both. Fortunately, none of us are like that here. :)

Agree 100%.

With millions of dollars to spend and state of the art computers at the ready what does Singer give us ...................... More Lex.

And lets be honest here ... Hackman was better. Much better.

If ever a character was waiting to be used in an EPIC, powerful way its Superman.

What do we get ?? ....... A tepid waste of time.

You raise good points and I agree with them. Personally, I'm not trying to push people's buttons. If they like SR and felt that this interpretation was good for them, that's fine.

I loved POTC 2, but thought SR was a desecration to humanity with its portrayal of Superman. The concept was great, but it was really a poor story, IMO. That said, it's just my opinion. It's not mired in fact any more than someone who loved the film, and said it was great. The box office is a great barometer of whether or not people liked the film. The proof is in that pudding.

House of Wax.... you're not supposed to root for the people to die in a horror flm are you?

Vincent Price is rolling over in his grave.....

The Godfather. Boring and pretentious.

I agree with Peter Griffin here.
I've never seen it, and don't really wanna.
Mob movies are *yawn* boring.
