BvS What Went Wrong w/ Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (SPOILERS) - Part 1

WW should have saved Martha, saved Lois, had a "slumber party" with her, retrieved the spear, killed Doomsday and formed the Justice League.

Nothing in the movie really shows Bruce as being...an intelligent guy. He puts a rock on the edge of a spear. It takes him a few tries to find out the White Portuguese is a ship. He doesn't look into Superman or Clark after meeting them. He's given a drive to open and read about meta humans. He is shocked by the name Martha, though he could have made that connection by looking into it first. Then there's the final battle.

Definitely not world's greatest detective again.

I don't agree at all that Snyder's two DC films haven't ended on a positive note.

I won't comment on BvS in terms of a positive ending, but MOS was definitely not positive. Now it did try to trick people into thinking that it was uplifting, but for me -- and most of the audience reactions I read afterwards -- it failed completely at that. During the early parts of MOS I found scenes cringe-inducing, insulting, and boring, but when the climax came and Superman kissed Lois in the middle of all that carnage, it was so tone-deaf that I was in full-blown "What the hell? Who in their right mind thought this works?" mode, and literally screaming WTF's at my television. I fully expected Superman to stop the kiss, go and pull a wedding ring off some nearby corpse's finger, make a joke about how they wouldn't be needing it any more, and then offer it to a smiling Lois who responded with the words "How sweet and thoughtful of you Clark".

Yeah, it was that jarring. I have crowned it the most inappropriate celebration in movie history, and it is a legendary ending the likes of which can (hopefully) never be outdone.

They're pretty consistent in BvS when Lois and Clark exchange I love yous while Doomsday is causing devastation in the background. They must have a thing for that kind of stuff.

yeah, that kiss was stupid. the scenes like that gives you the impression that Clark is indifferent to all the casualties. tens of thousands of people just died and you are kissing Lois? come on

I agree 100 percent. There's a hilarious and disturbing video online where they have that scene with audio of horrendous screams, since Superman would probably be hearing that during the kiss. Or at least, tuning it out. Like, horrifying screams hahaha. Don't even get me started on that corny dialogue.

Also, to expand on your post. They trick you with the Daily Planet thing. But it's not happy at all considering what just went down in the city. They're laughing, having a great time talking about tickets to baseball games (which would never happen unless it's MONTHS in advance - but we don't know that). It's so strange. The tone changes and it's like "this final scene would be good in a different Superman movie. Or if, downtown Metropolis wasn't destroyed."

It just goes to show you how Zack's brain works. He, like Bruce Wayne in this movie, isn't too bright. Gotta blame Goyer and Terrio for that too.

Yup, it's ridiculous.

I can understand the complaints about the MOS kiss (and also some defenses), but the "I love you" exchange in BvS is a different scenario. He knew he was probably going to die at that point. Things weren't looking good for him and they both knew it. What kind of robot wouldn't have a short teary moment with his beloved before giving his life to save humanity? That "I love you. You're my world" moment was one of the more heart-felt (and well-acted) parts of the film. If we're talking about the "you came back" kiss, it was short and things hadn't gotten started. Also, she wasn't sure where he'd gone and for how long.

Well said

I'm a MoS fan, but that kiss did feel more like it was just there because the filmmakers thought "We need to have them kiss here to complete the romantic subplot," and not something that would have happened naturally.

I'm fine with their first kiss, because it plays as them being incredibly relieved that the craziest, most destructive battle the world had ever seen was over, and they both survived... It's when they exchange the terrible dialogue and then go in for a second kiss it's like "Okay, c'mon guys..."

Agreed.

So, I like the movie but would agree with these points. If you watch the Justice League-War, Batman knows who Superman is and Superman does one x-ray screen and knows who Batman is. Simple and logical.

I almost feel that the DC guys are purposely making Batman not seem smart to make sure he does not look too much like Tony Stark.

I would say 'probably' to that but then they made Bruce a rich a-hole in both public and private kinda like Tony anyway. With a mecha-suit, from Returns, but still..

I don't think that's the case because Bruce obviously came before Tony. But you never know with these chumps. I think it's just that Snyder has his mind on other things.

LOL, it's funny.

But even that cartoonist didn't get it.

1. First he's confused, why would Superman scream save Martha (Wayne)? He starts to get real mad, almost ready to kill him even more.
2. Lois explains it's his mother. Then he starts to realize Superman is less alien than he thought. That he has compassion, that he has a human side.
3. Lois is there, another human Superman cares for. And someone else needs saving.
4. This kill would be very diferent from all the other crooks, this kill was up close and personal, no self defense are saving someone directly, with a loved one (Lois) there. Superman already on his knees, defeated. I doubt he could even finish the job without Superman saying 'save Martha'.
5. When he here's that Lex has Martha Kent he realizes Lex Luthor played with him.
6. He remembers Alfred's words "He is not our enemy!".
7. If this is the real Batman he figures out pretty soon after this, he has leverage he can use to get to Superman if he'd ever need it.

Dude just..don't even bother. We all know.

Has any recent superhero film gotten romance right? I was thinking Deadpool, if that counts.

Anyway, yeah the Clark/Lois romance was really f***ing lame in MoS and BvS. And I just didn't buy that they were in love other than the fact that the movie demanded it... but I can say that about most SH movies

The only one I can think of that kind of okay-ish was Perry and Tony. But yes, I'd count Deadpool.

Do you guys agree that this movie is better than;

The Incredible Hulk
Ironman 2&3
Thor 2
First Avenger
Wolverine 1&2
Amazing Spiderman 1&2
X-Men First Class

I'd say Deadpool.

I wonder why it's so hard for superhero movies and blockbusters in general to get them right.

Bad writers, mixed with writers/directors who have their mind on action or other s**t. They don't think its too important i guess. But it is when you have characters like Lois/Clark, Peter/MJ or Gwen.
