Casino Royale (2006)
Oh yeah, that’s the ****. Stylistically you can see Martin Campbell made both Goldeneye and this, but tonally it’s funny that they brought him into un-Dalton and then re-Dalton Bond. Either way it’s the stripped down approach that drives me crazy in a good way.
The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
I appreciate that each Nolan Batman film is actually quite individual. It’s just too bad he wants to stop at three. Ah well, I can’t wait to see what the future brings, for both Batman and Nolan.
The Good, The Bad & The Ugly (1966)
While I’ll always kind of prefer the straightforwardness of the Dollars films, you can’t go wrong with Sergio Leone, vast landscapes and small scale storytelling on an epic scope. Doesn’t feel like three hours at all.
From Russia with Love (1963)
Only Sean Connery can end a cat fight with a threesome and getting his laundry done. I can never get enough of when Robert Shaw is pretending to be Captain Nash, followed by the brief fight. Just pure tension built up and exploding in a fit of violence. Like sex.
