Get Out (Rewatch) - 9 / 10

The Great Wall - Visually it's mostly gorgeous (as to be expected), there's a decent Chinese mythology around it,*and the last act is very enjoyable, but it's also quite talky at points. Damon seems a bit out of place at points too, but he's not bad. A mixed bag. - 6 / 10

Damon's Irish (?) accent or whatever it was trying to be kind of made me laugh.

Seraphim Falls

I like Neeson and Brosnan but the ending felt anticlimactic.

MEN IN BLACK III
Quality = 6.5/10
Joy = 9/10

There's a lot of bullcrap in the logic of this movie, and I'm not talking just time travel, like why would the survival of planet eating alien race wait in one planet for 40 years before munching it? You need to be there to remember, but one person wasn't there and he remembers. In the brilliantly worded quote from one classic Wallace Rudolph West; "Time travel gives me a headache".
And then there is the dead alien fish that jumped seeking release after it died by its hear getting torn off.

I'm not sure I caught on to this before, but a beautiful young lady in the MIB agency telling her old man boss that he has an appointment with the Viagrans.

At least it's an enjoyable movie, both Ks are fun to watch, and the humor lands.

THE SOUND OF MUSIC
Quality = 9/10
Joy = 10/10

A classic that is very easy to watch and enjoy, no matter my age while watching it, with lots of classic songs. :D

Finally got around to watching the 1956 WAR AND PEACE starring Audrey Hepburn, Henry Fonda, and Mel Ferrer. It was 3 and half hours long....which was 3 hours too much. Henry Fonda was way too old for his part, Ferrer was bland but Hepburn was gorgeous. The rest of the movie was boring and the taunted battle scenes were boring and had some of the worst choreography and pyrotechnics seen outside of a high school play.

Phantom Thread - Finally glad I got to see it, because it's SO good. Such a simple story in many respects, but PTA does such an outstanding job of telling it. DDL is superb as ever, but Krieps is the real revelation. She's great, and brings a lot of "humanity" to the film. - 8.5 / 10

Was it the normal or the MST3K episode? The MST3K episode for this is GLORIOUS!
It was normal one as I purchased the Vinegar Syndrome Blu-ray release a few months ago. I have seen the MST3K episode and felt like revisiting it and it was a lot of fun. The director and cast members talk about the MST3K version on the special features.

The Ritual

Really enjoyed it. It makes a huge difference when you put time and care with a horror film like this. They do a good job focusing on the relationship between the friends and the reason why they're even hiking up the Swedish forests. It's definitely smarter than your average horror film. They try to make smart decisions and the movie has a natural reason why the group falls apart as sh** hits the fan. It's also a smart decision on the movies part for not relying on jump scares or cheap tricks. It's kinda like the Blair Witch minus the annoying characters and a real payoff. This becomes a real creature feature in the last 20+ minutes. As for the monster, it's has a unique design. It's almost something Stan Winston would have made if he was still alive. Overall, it's a great tense horror film that I highly recommend.
9/10

Cronos

4.5/5

This is Guillermo Del Toro's first film. It's a Spanish film about an antique retailer who finds an artifact that can provide immortality at a cost, and it is sought after by a sketchy guy and his henchman (played by Ron Perlman). Solid debut for GDT. This film has some weird fade outs, but it does show GDT's visual style and practical make-up skill even at this early stage of his career. It also has a great score. Solid flick overall, and I recommend giving it a view. It may not be as good as The Devil's Backbone, Pan's Labyrinth, or The Shape of Water, but it is still one of GDT's better films.
