Superman vs. The Elite.

Better than every other big budget film I've seen this year so far.

Jeff, Who Lives at Home

A great comedy/drama that has the most real brother relationship that i've seen in a film. Everyone was great in this and while it was predictable you can't help but to love it.
9/10

Wanderlust

A couple of great jokes and lines, but overall it was forgettable.

Prometheus 8.5/10 Lowered my expectations and probably ended up liking it a lot more because of it.

Tried to watch these in story order rather than release order to see how they played.

Underworld: Rise of The Lycans

7.5/10

Decent prequel that filled in the gaps of the flashbacks from the first film pretty well. The star-crossed romance was pretty compelling and I though the filmmakers did a good job showing how the war escalated. Bill Nighy is as usual a real standout in these films. Michael Sheen gets more to do and really delivers. I've become a fan of his work over the years. Rhona Mitra was a good choice for Viktors daughter Sonja. She had the right look and handled the physical stuff well enough.

The film that kicked off the series. Takes more of a Blade route in substance and adds some Matrix flavor for style (trading green tint for blue) to break away from the "traditional" vampire and werewolf tales but brings a little something of its own thats new to the table as well.

I particularly liked the "hybrid" concept. Thats something I can't really remember seeing it movies like this up t that point. I enjoyed the twists and turns as the mysteries of the story unfolded. The action was entertaining

I always liked the films blend of modern and ancient in its look. Not sure if Kate Beckinsale has ever been sexier. I really like her in these films. The cast is full of good actors: Nighy, Sheen, Speedman, all fit their roles very well.

The use of different kinds of special effects techniques in this film always impressed me. There is some good practical work with the suits and make up and CGI is used when needed but I don't think its overused. It looks good.

Underworld: Evolution

Good continuation to the first film. Enjoyed how the filmmakers just picked up right where Underworld left off and just filled in more pieces of the puzzle. The make up and suit work got even better. Marcus is a really interesting character and the bond between he and his brother were a nice touch to give him an interesting motivation. Love the look of Marcus, the first vampire. More mysteries are revealed and solved as we learn more about Viktors manipulations. Its just cool how they expand this world.

Underworld: Awakening

This one had the difficult task of basically starting over with a new story. The previous trilogy had finally gotten through all the backstory and I felt one of the strengths of those films was how we went back and forth between the past and the present and how new bits of information were revealed.

This film doesn't have that. It has to start with a mostly new cast of players and take things in a different direction using the same basic foundation of vampires vs werewolves. The opening of the film is one of the strongest parts and it has an interesting story but this film felt more like a setup to what may come next. Maybe if the film had been longer it would have helped to flesh some things and new characters out.

Beckinsale looks as good as ever and seems more comfortable with the stunt work and action. I noticed that somehow the feel of this one was a little different. The color palette seems slightly more expanded and vibrant. The cold blue tint is still there but not as strong. Looks like there was a bit more reliance on CGI in this film but considering what they had to do its not surprising.

I enjoy the Underworld series. I thought that Underworld: Awakening was really lacking but they may be able to make up for it with a sequel and hopefully close out the series.

Prometheus 10/10

Great film. I think it may take a couple days for everything to sink in. Also thought Rapace gave a better performance than I was expecting.

Yeah I though it was the weakest of the series. Not terrible but it didn't have the appeal of the others.

Frozen - Shawn Ashmore of the X-Men films stars in this pretty entertaining suspense movie of three skiers who while at a ski lodge accidentally get stranded on the chairlift high atop the snow and now have to face how to survive from getting frozen to death or killed by wolves.

The premise sounds ludicrous but once you get past it it's something that could actually happen maybe.

Emily Blunt, Anthony Hopkins and Del Toro give in really good performances despite the lack of more memorable dialogue and a pretty empty script. The music by Elfman is awesome and I liked the ambiance. It just needed some more fleshing out in terms of meatier dialogue and a stronger story, then it would have been a much better film.

Batman (1989)

The first time I've given it my undivided attention in God knows how long. Oh man, did I forget just how unabashedly I love this film. Loved Keaton's subtle performance, continuously almost recognizing Jack/Joker, but never quite sure who he is. His eyes really sell what he's thinking without needing much dialogue.

Nicholson's Joker is pretty goofy to be sure, but I think people forget how superbly sleazy he was as Napier. He would've been awesome as Falcone had they adapted Year One.

The visuals, art direction and production design owe a lot to Blade Runner and the film is all the better for it. Tim Burton is obviously synonymous with goth, but to me this movie feels more pulpy noir.

I think the first run of Batman films have all been squashed together as a campy mess, but tonally, visually, this movie honestly reminds me of the Arkham video games.

If it's been too long, give it a watch!

Domino

Tony Scott why hast thou forsaken me?!?!!?!?!? I'm really glad he's toned it down recently, Pelham and Unstoppable look like low key arthouse dramas compared to this mess.

The whole thing was just a headache. But as usual with Tony Scott, the OTT characters, hilariously bad comedy and completely implausible situations carry the film. Walken's extended cameo was hilarious.

I was thinking more how he left Vale's apartment by waving his arms about and making fart noises.

BTW, speaking of the scene in Vale's apartment, I love the trolling of Vicki Vale going on. First Bruce comes in and tells her completely random stuff about normal people and double lives, then Joker busts in tells her about Alicia killing herself, shoots Wayne then leaves, after that horrifying display, Bruce leaves without letting her know he's ok and to top it off she opens the box with the hand pops up!

Alien Vs. Predator - 4/10

Aliens Vs. Predator: Requiem - Didn't even finish it.

Alien 3 - 3/10

John Carter - 5/10

Gladiator - 10/10
