Halloween movie viewing this month since September 10 as it's halloween season:
Blood Diner: Fun guilty pleasure that is sick and funny as it's a 1987 cult fave about 2 cannibalistic diner owners who resurrect their uncle's brain and are ordered to slaughter people then serve their bodies for dinner for people to eat. If you want a no brainer gore-feast check this out. This grossed me out when i was 14 when i rented it.
Halloween (1978): on blu-ray no doubt, it's a horror masterpiece that looks and sounds terrific in high def.
Halloween II (1981): on the new 2-disc blu-ray collector's edition and it's TV cut is very enjoyable as it's included with never before in the theatrical cut footage.
Halloween III Season of the Witch: a misunderstood horror/sci-fi horror film that looks and sounds terrific and finally on blu-ray loaded with extras, thank you Shout Factory. This was the first and only movie to attempt to turn the franchise into a big screen horror anthology (ala Creepshow and Tales from The Crypt or Twilight Zone) of different halloween themed horror stories every year with different villains and all but it was rejected in 1982 and has a following since.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974): on blu-ray, a horror classic that terrified me when i rented it when i was 5 and it looks amazing on high def.
Maniac (1980): on blu-ray, a sick and gory as hell slasher cult fave that repulsed me when i was a young teen when i rented it and looks nice in high def as well. Tom Savini's effects are still effective.
Psycho (1960): on blu-ray my fave horror movie since i was 5 and another film that looks flawless and sounds great on shiny blu-ray.
Island of Lost Souls: on criterion blu-ray, what a great film in high def and i always liked this 30's classic and the best adaptation of Island of Dr. Moreau since i was 10 when i rented it. The Panther Woman is definitely bonervision.
V/H/S: in theaters, a great found footage horror anthology, recommended.
REC 3: in theaters, an improvement part 2 and an enjoyable comical gore-bath sequel.
Street Trash: cult gross out horror comedy from the 80s that i enjoyed since i was 10 when i rented it on video, Pat Ryan Jr from Toxic Avenger stars in this one.
Freaked: Loved it since i was 12 and a enjoyable live-action cartoon of a comedy and great halloween viewing.
Jaws: on blu-ray, what can i say? a cinematic masterpiece that looks and sounds amazing in the magic of high def.
Misery: my fave King movie ever and saw this 4 times in theaters as a kid, Kathy Bates is scary in this movie.
Parents (1989): I rented this when i was 10 and found it to be creepy as hell, an enjoyable dark horror comedy cult fave with Randy Quaid.
Nightmare Before Christmas: on blu-ray, it also looks flawless and sounds kick ass in high definition, i saw it 5 times in theaters when i was 12 and one of my fave animated movies ever.
