When should the DVD come out?

Yeah and compare that with Iron Man. Where's the featurette about the comics history? I'm pretty disappointed overall.

We're talking about the DVD not blu ray. CK.

DVDS here lately has been SHORTED with no reason . There's many ways dvd can have the same stuff on discs and charge a bigger price but these jerks want you to just go out and drop money on a new blu ray player.

I wish Dvds would still have the same amount of special features, I understand Bluray has more for marketing purposes, (I'm guilty of purchasing one when Iron Man 2 came out). Nowadays, if you want to get special features, the best option is just purchasing the bluray version, as it's 2-3 bucks more, when the Dvd special features are weak. For awhile there, I just bought the basic movie, but that's no fun. I'm stoked for all the special features!

You people need to make the upgrade to High Definition and Blu-ray's, its so worth it.

Couldn't agree with you any more. I won't lie, in the beginning, I was hardcore against bluray and hidef systems, just because I didn't want dvds to phase out. However, buying a bluray player has been worth every penny spent. The picture and sound quality is spectacular. Not to mention the extras on movies.

do you have the money to give me to do so?
Not everone can afford to go out and buy a new danged system very time a new version comes out.

To ME dvd with a HD tv is fine.

Agreed.

Heck, I've played regular dvd's on my HD tv, and they look just fine/theater quality to me (minus the hot dog and popcorn scent, and a potentially annoying audience in attendance.lol)

There's some really cheap blu-ray players out right now that's very affordable. I've been using my ps3 for close to 5 years now and even though I paid more for it back then than what you can get for it now, watching movies in Hi-Def is worth the extra money spent on blu-rays and when I watch Thor at home, I'm gonna want nothing short of the best version out. I can't wait

Those Bluray features sound really good. Can't wait to pick it up. I, especially, can't wait to listen to the commentary.

I know some don't want to upgrade, but it really is worth it. Pay $85 for a player; and you get 6 times the resolution , uncompressed audio, and exclusive special features. Not to mention you get new remastered transfers that you wont get on dvd. If anyone has a passion for film or its preservation upgrading is an obvious thing. I started out with HD-DVD back in 2005 so I've been at this a while, and it most certainly is worth it. Dismissing bluray as not being a significant upgrade just isn't true. There is a reason directors love it. It allows film to be presented to the viewer in a way the director intendes without compression and degradation. All this being said, I understand it being a money issue. Everyone has priorities, but I don't think DVDs should get the same special features as bluray. It is a higher quality product that people were paying a premium for when it first came out. A premium product should come with premium special features only availabe on that product.

Meh. Who cares about Blue Ray anyway? Give me that steelbook cover for the DVD and I'm happy.
(and before anyone shouts out how great BR is: it isn't, it may be better than DVD but not that much better that it warrants a completely new system that isn't compatible with the old)

I can understand people just wanting to watch the movie on a regular tv and be fine with that and I'm not picking on you, but that's typically what someone who doesn't own one say:whatever: I, personally, prefer to have the absolute best format of movies I buy and it makes movies I already enjoy even that much more of a cinematic experience. Plus, the way DVD's are pretty much bare boned nowadays anyway, you'll actually end up getting more for your money

Well, I own a couple of BRs and my TV is pretty new so that's not the point.
But yeah, DVDs contain less and less bonus material, which is a shame and just because companies want to sell their BRs:cmad:

True. We only got a blu ray when we replaced our old TV and even then I am grateful for the Triple Plays as I can see the movie on my bedroom DVD player

Lol facts are facts. The audio is uncompressed, the bit rate is 30-40 Mbps instead of 4 Mbps, there are 6 times the pixels on display, and it offers far more interactive features. Plus, its 50gb discs instead of 9gb discs. You may not want to upgrade or see it as a necessity, but denying the facts is being ignorant. Anything uncompressed or less compressed is better. Considering a blu-ray player costs $85 now, and blu-rays can be bought at the same price as dvds i see no reason not to upgrade. Not trying to be mean or sound like a blu-ray snob as I still buy dvds, but when people try to say something isn't better when it clearly is it irritates me. Facts are facts. If its about not wanting to replace your current setup I understand. If it isnt broke dont fix it. When it goes out though you might as well upgrade. DVD wil be replaced whether its by blu-ray or the next format, but blu-ray is here to stay.

I love that steelbook. There are no HMV stores in the states is there?

the 13th can't get here soon enough! lol

I thought they were giving away a JIM reprint there for a second! That would have been weird. They should be packaging it with a few great entry issues. Thor vol 3. #1. by JMS, Thor: The Mighty Avenger #1 by Roger Langridge, a decent Loki story and something by Simonson. Batman Begins did that here in the UK.

The blood red cover is kind of ugly though

I'm getting the best one or the one with all versions of media in it.
I might get another version depending on what's given out in it, or with it.
