When will the events of Final Crisis be talked about in the ongoing series?

I mean I am wondering when will Final Crisis be talked about in Superman or Batman or where do they even take place in the ongoing issues? This is why I liked IC because they used one issue for the ongoing series to tie-in events with IC so that you know they are still being felt. I think Final Crisis should have done the same. I mean you can't just blow up the Daily Planet and leave Lois left for dead and not at least talk about in the ongoing Superman comics and I don't think they should wait till the crisis is over before talking about it.

Probably after Final Crisis is over. Until then, it looks like everything is going to be contained within the Final Crisis one-shots and mini-series. DiDio's basically said that he wants to allow each group of comics to do their own thing, hence the Batman RIP event running concurrently to Final Crisis, the upcoming Superman event running through Action Comics, Superman, and Supergirl, the GL-centric Sinestro Corps War a while ago, etc. I think we're going to see a lot of compartmentalization in the DC universe for the time being.

Yeah Final Crisis is playing out more like Seven Soldiers did a self contained maxi-series rather than a long drawn-out ultra-crossover event.

Then my next question is when does this all take place before or after Batman R.I.P. and the Superman event? Also when does Legion of three worlds take place?

No idea. Probably before, since we don't know what the status of Batman will be after RIP. It's hard to imagine such a big storyline affecting him so little that he'd appear to be the same as ever in Final Crisis, if Final Crisis took place after it.

My money would be on Final Crisis takes place before Batman RIP.

Considering Morrison's writing it, you'd think he'd have all that squared away. I wouldn't know, I'm not reading Batman RIP.

But the Superman/Legion stuff takes place after Final Crisis #3. They said that in the first solicit for the mini.

I actually just don't think Morrison is thinking of that - same with Seven Soldiers (before or after IC?) - he's just telling stories and not being editorial about it.

Since it's being somewhat co-plotted with Johns and Rucka, who are more conscientious about those things, I assume its continuity will be more apparent down the road. There are several clues already in books that it has affected -- however peripherally -- like JLA, Birds of Prey, and Teen Titans.

I'm sure there'll be some time period it kinda sorta fits into when all is said and done. If not, Johns'll probably retcon a place for it in a year or two.

A lot of people didn't like that about Countdown, though. DiDio seems to have misinterpreted the reaction as, "screw tie-ins," when the real thrust of it was, "screw tie-ins if they don't tie into something GOOD." Either way, he's decided to go a different route. Certain issues of certain comics which feature younger heroes and characters have sported the Dark Side Club header at the top, which lets you know that they're prequels of a sort to Final Crisis. After that, it's all Final Crisis and related minis and one-shots.

I'm not too keen on it, myself. Something as big as Final Crisis should spill over into a few other titles, at least. As it stands, Batman RIP feels like a bigger event because it's encompassing all of the Batman titles, whereas Final Crisis is just limited to a few fleeting minis and one-shots. Of course, so many of DC's books are just now pulling themselves out of the crappy mire that OYL left them in that tie-ins might not have been the best idea anyway.

That's kind of why I like it.

I want the DC books to stand on their own before worrying about corssing over every few months. I'm happy right now to not have tie ins everywhere.

I think they need to clean house on individual books better before tying them in as well, but I also think that just means they didn't really need a major, universe-spanning event like Final Crisis right this minute. They created a no-win situation: FC can't tie into the normal titles because they're too busy rebuilding themselves, but without tie-ins FC loses a lot of the scope it deserves.

I think that's the fallibility of them planning this such a long time ago (two years or more maybe?). I guess they had envisioned after OYL they would be done tiding now but that's not the case and they've invested so much time into it that it has to be done now.

Yeah, their sales are tanking hard. Events are basically the only way they stand a chance of keeping up with Marvel.

But I don't think an event necessarily needs to have hella tie-ins in order to feel like an important part of the universe. Look at Identity Crisis, which imo was the event that shaped and was shaped by the DCU in its surrounding years -- I don't really know how to put that better -- and yet was very self-contained.

That's a bit of a different animal. That was one incident with one group. The central conflict of Final Crisis seems much more far-reaching. The only problem is that it doesn't really reach anywhere, which makes FC feel kind of bottled up and awkward.

Final crisis really should have been held back. Who cares about the fate of the universe(again) when the solo stories of the other heroes is far more interesting. I care less about final crisis and more about the multicolored lanterns. Though i think a tie may be the fact that currently a lot of the heroes are getting their "new origins".
